PostSubject: A day off in the town.   A day off in the town. I_icon_minitimeSun Sep 16, 2012 5:12 pm

Refreshed and restored, Makeover had woken up early - it was her natural way, anyway. Silently, she entered the bathroom, to get a shower and maybe apply some remedies for her face.
She brushed her teeth, then the hair, which actually needed a little more work than just brushing. After that, she turned the cloud shower on, stepping to the rain of cold water.

Even if she had tried to be as silent as possible, there, as the cool water caressed her skin, Makeover completely managed to forget it was an early morning and that she had a visitor staying over. There just was some mornings, when a pony needed to have a little sing-song.
She hummed the tune a little, while soaping her body with a floral scented soap, then getting on a roll:

"I hear the ticking of the clock,
I'm lying here the room's pitch dark.
I wonder where you are tonight,
No answer on the telephone,
And the night goes by so very slow,
O-ooh, I hope that it won't end though...
Alone!

'Till now I always got by on my own,
I never really cared until I met you!
And now it chills me to the bone-eeee!
How do I get you alone?
How do I get you alone?

You don't know how long I have wanted,
to touch your lips and hold you tight, oh-ohh!
You don't know how long I have waited...
And I was gonna tell you tonight!
But the secret is still my own
And my love for you is still unknown,
Alone!

'Till now I always got by on my own,
I never really cared until I met you!
And now it chills me to the bone...
How do I get you alone?
How do I get you alone?"

Makeover's voice was, naturally, untrained for this kind of a ballad, but she mainly had a ballistic attitude what it came to singing and making music. Attitude helped a lot, when one did not have a lot of skills. Also, her singing was interrupted by some random gurgles and bubbles, as she was still washing herself. Actually, it was a kind of a miracle she had not managed to get any soap or shampoo in her eyes, while wailing trough the lyrics of the song.

Arpeggio had slept quite peacefully, and was only beginning to wake up when Makeover had... he was honestly more of a night owl. When she began singing, though, the brown pegasus stirred more, yawning and rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

He listened to his host singing, smiling. 'She has a beautiful voice...'

When finished with the shower, Makeover dried herself with a soft towel, then wrapping herself to a silky bathrobe. Now feeling even more refreshed, she stretched properly and then exited the bathroom.
She noticed her guest was awake, so she said, "Good morning, sunshine! Did I wake you up?"

Arpeggio smiled, yawning widely. It could've almost been seen as cute. "Mmm... I was already kinda awake when I heard you singing... you have a beautiful voice."

He smiled warmly at her.

"Ahh, I don't think it... It is kind of untrained, unrefined. I can't reach too high notes, I um... And I sound kinda goofy in my own ears..." Makeover said, her cheeks getting a faint rosy hue. Still, she smiled at the compliment, they usually were the best way to get to her heart.

Makeover fumbled with the belt of the robe, then admitting the situation with the food, "I am afraid I don't have much breakfast stuffs around the house. I could buy you a breakfast at local café or something?"

He continued to smile. "You don't need to be able to reach very high notes to be a good singer, and you have quite a bit of raw ability with it, I think." He slowly got up out of the bed, stretching out.

"It's alright, Makeover. You don't need to buy me anything. I have some bits on me." He blushed a little as his stomach growled. "I am rather hungry, though... do you know a good place?"

Makeover shrugged a little, walking to the room and making her sofabed to a tidier assembly. "Well, I only know the jazz bar properly, but I doubt that cocktail cherries work as a breakfast. Though there at least used to be a nice place somewhere near it, if I recall correctly."

She finished tidying up and then went to her cabinet to take out some clothing. This time, a scarf should just do, as it seemed it was going to be a warm day anyway. She wore some gem studs to her ears, looking at herself with a small hoofheld mirror. "Hmm. I feel like going au naturelle today. No make-up."

Then turning to look at her guest, she laughed a little. "Raw ability, really? Surely I cannot be as good, as ponies with natural special talent, but it sure would be fun to learn." she then admitted, as she had thought of applying to a music academy at younger age - though it had not ended well - academies were mainly for ponies with their special talents in music industry.

The stallion winced a little, rubbing his stomach as it growled again. "HEheh... alright, we'll check it out... and I agree; I think you look lovely, makeup or no."

He smiled. "Would I lie to you? Sure, it may not show on your flank, but I'd dare say you have the ability." He began to think a bit. 'I've always wanted to teach someone... He went into the bathroom area, combing his mane a little into a nice coif before heading back into the main area.

As she had finished dressing up, she patiently waited for her guest to return from the bathroom. "Ready then?" she asked, still quite flustered at the compliments the stallion dropped here and there.
"To be honest, I am STARVING." she then admitted, even if it was not ladylike to express hunger or hog food. But then again, she was not from the high end of the society, so who gave a buck?

"Then we're in the same boat." He returned, gently folding a large wing over her side. "Shall we, milady?" He smiled warmly at her. "I could use some coffee, as well..."

He decided he'd follow her lead; he hadn't been to Cloudsdale in a while so he figured she was the better choice to lead.

"Heh, I am more of a tea pony. I don't like the bitterness of coffee." Makeover mentioned as they exited her apartment.

In the streets, she turned to look around, then returning to the direction of the club they had spent the last evening. "I hope the place is open already." she muttered, then turning to look at Arpeggio, "Oh, where are my manners...? Did you sleep well, honey?"

It seemed that Makeover was a little scatter-brained this morning, but who could have blamed her? She had a gorgeus visitor with her, they were going to enjoy some breakfast, she had a day off from work... Everything was going nicely and she had this funny and fluttery feeling in her stomach.

Arpeggio followed, keeping his wing over her side. He brushed a little mane out of his eyes that the wind had blown in front of them, looking at her. "Quite well, actually... thank you again for letting me use your bed; you really didn't have to."

He really enjoyed this mare's company; she'd been nothing but kind to him and he always felt warm when he talked to her.

"It was nothing, I will do anything for a friend." Makeover said, beaming in the morning sunlight.

They arrived quickly to the area of bars, restaurants and cafés, and the mare had to stop to take a decent look around. Restaurants, of course, were still closed, but there seemed to be a decent café - although not the one she remembered - open.

"I suppose this would do." she said, walking a little closer to the café and as the delicious smell hit her nose via the open door, she knew this was a good place to eat and relax. There was the smell of fresh coffee, honey, toasted bread and many vegetables. Makeover's mouth started watering and her stomach gave an eager growl.

"Heheh... thanks, Makeover. Means a lot to me." The pegasus blushed slightly (though it wasn't that visible under his dark coat) at her smile.

When they entered the café, Makeover's stomach wasn't the only one; Arpeggio's stomach gave a growl as well at the wonderful smells. "Mmph~ This smells wonderful~ I wonder what they have..." He trotted to a spot where he could look at their menu.

"I would really love a croissant with peach jam..." Makeover mused and looked around for a free table. "Or oatmeal with a pinch of sugar and cinnamon. Oh, I'll go get us a place to sit. It seems kind of busy here."
She went to reserve a table for them and it really seemed it was a busy day for the café, as there was a lot of early pegasi around and about their business.

Makeover sat in the table, looking around the coffee shop. It was busy, many pegasi were having their breakfast before heading to work. She hummed a little, sitting down and relaxing there in the fumes of fresh coffee and baked goods.

"Well, hello there, Birdbones."

Makeover turned to look at some stranger approaching her table. The stranger, stallion, was beefy, dark gray, and a little bit of mean-looking. Makeover looked around, then understanding, that the calling Birdbones was referring to her.

(It's alright.)

Arpeggio had gotten their coffee and food and was heading back when he noticed the stranger.

"What in the world?" He continued to walk, though he had a little bit to go before he reached their table.

"What's the matter, sweetcheeks? Don't like any company?", said the stranger, actually daring to sit down at the table Makeover had reserved for her and her companion.

The mare was not a bit pleased at the pony sitting down, so she got her coldest tone to her voice and said, "I would like you to leave, please. There is no room for you once my companion arrives."

As she said that, Arpeggio arrived at the table, setting the coffee and food down. "Makeover, is this stallion harassing you?"

He looked at the stranger with an analytical expression. "Yes. Apologies, but there really is only room for two at this table."

"Don't bother yourself, Arp-dear." Makeover said swinging her hoof like swatting a fly away. She gave an icy stare at the strange pony at the table, her tone of voice now so cold one could almost sense icicles in the air. She rarely was like this, but now her glare made her really look mean, cold and cruel, as if she had a personal vendetta against the stranger.

The strange pegasus looked up at Arpeggio, then at Makeover, then at other ponies interested in the scene. It seemed that he decided further harrassment was not needed any longer, so he silently got up and left the table.

Makeover allowed her glare to follow the intruder until he had walked outside the coffeeplace. Once the stallion was out, Makeover relaxed and actually broke down to shivers.

Arpeggio noticed, pulling his chair over and sitting next to her, wrapping a large wing around her side. "What's wrong, Makeover? Who was that guy?"

Something about him had rubbed the brown pegasus the wrong way but he couldn't put a hoof on what.

The truth to be told, Makeover was not entirely sure if she had ever met the stranger or not. Back in the day she had had so many 'customers' in the Manehattan spa, she had lost the count. At any rate, the encounter had brought up a lot of bad memories from the past, of the time she had been fooled to work at that place.

She tried her best to fix a smile on her lips, as Arpeggio wrapped his wing around her and asked who the guy was. Cold sweat ran down her spine, as she tried to encourage the stallion to stop worrying,
"It was nopony special, I might've met him in the past, but I really can't remember his name..."

At that moment, she also realized there was no reason to hide the past. There was no point keeping that kind of secrets, if she wanted any kind of relationship ever to work.
She frowned a little, as she decided there should be a time soon to spill the beans.

"Ah... okay. I see." He still kept his wing protectively around her, squeezing her in a gentle hug. "At any rate... I have our food." He smiled warmly, giving the mare her food and coffee, before turning to his.

"Mmm... looks delicious."

A little upset about the incident, Makeover took the food and the coffee, then grabbing a spoon to stir her oatmeal with. She tried her best to cover the feelings of being upset, though she was not completely efficient with it.

Sighing softly, she started to eat, even if she actually did not feel that hungry any more. After that, she sipped the coffee and looked at Arpeggio over her coffee mug.
