Bonding over Baked Goods (open/ Logik)

Clockwork lead Logik to her favorite place, Sugar Cube's. she went in and order her usual bakers dozen of today's special cupcakes and went to a table and waited.

"well Logik, it is kinda of a surprise you never been here before, its one of the main bakeries in town."

((That is quite an ingenious title :P))

Logik looked around curiously as the two ponies entered Sugar Cube Corner. The place was quite...colorful, in his opinion. Looking towards the front of the small establishment he could see that the owners of the bakery were quite adept at making and selling a variety of baked goods, specifically sweet ones. And, judging from the relatively large amount of other ponies around, their skill was quite well known throughout the nearby area. He followed Clockwork as the mare ordered a dozen cupcakes and took a seat at a nearby table, sitting opposite her.

"Well Logik, it is kinda of a surprise you never been here before, it's one of the main bakeries in town."

He shrugged. "Well, I've only just arrived in Ponyville. I can remember noticing this bakery, though I can't say I've ever really payed much interest to it."

Clockwork smiled and looked around with a happy sigh before asking him an obvious question.

"so if you are new to town, mind sharing were you are from?"

She asked as a hyper active pony hopped to her table and delivered the cupcakes before returning to the back kitchen. Clockwork smiled and took a bite our of one of the cupcakes, looking satisfied.

"mm, seems like today's special is cinnamon apple. anyway, the short time you spent here in town, what is your opinion?"

So if you are new to town, mind sharing were you are from?"

"Um, yes. I'm from Canterlot..."

As he replied, an apparently hyperactive pony came by to drop off Clockwork's order, leaving once again nearly before they came. Logik looked after the pony. Strange... He returned his gaze to the cupcakes that had been placed in front of him, picking one up with his magic.

"Mm, seems like today's special is cinnamon apple. Anyway, the short time you spent here in town, what is your opinion?"

"Well, it's...different..." He took a small bite of the cupcake and blinked. "Wow. This is good."

"well I imagine, so. the apples are locally grown at Sweet Apples Acres. many ponies say its one of the best apple orchards in Equestria."

-she seemed to digest half the cupcake while talking, she must have been eating and talking to manage this, obviously she had practice doing so due to the little deformity during her little speech. she looked to the counter and ordered a cake shake (milkshake with cake in it) and turned backed to Logik.-

"how is Canterlot by the by? is it as beautiful as the souls of it inhabitants?"

Due to her tone, she meant this in a bad way. she must have had a bad experience there.

"Well I imagine, so. The apples are locally grown at Sweet Apples Acres. Many ponies say it's one of the best apple orchards in Equestria."

Logik nods to this slowly, watching Clockwork as she somehow managed to speak while swallowing her food at the same time. He wasn't quite sure how she did this, but due to his early life spent in Canterlot, he was somewhat displeased at the sight. He tried not to show his thoughts though, as he believed he still needed to get accustomed to the relative lack of manners found in Ponyville. Relative to his old home, anyways.

The mare ordered a 'cake shake' from a pony behind the nearby counter, and then spoke once again. "How is Canterlot by the by? Is it as beautiful as the souls of its inhabitants?"

Logik easily depicted her tone in the comment. There was no confusion on her implication. "Um...well, the city in itself is quite...nice. The inhabitants...many times, not so much..."

"tell me about it"

She tossed him one of her cupcakes and smiled as her drink came, taking a sip of it with a smile as she seemed to relaxed a bit from her tense-ness on the subject of canterlot. she obviously had some unique story related to Canterlot for an earth pony like her to hate Canterlot. It may be a bad subject to talk about, but no doubt an interesting one. with a small sigh she looked to him with a small grin as if about to change the subject.

"so why is someone who is interesting and spell crafting here in Ponyville?"

Logik was somewhat curious as to why this mare was so tense on the subject of Canterlot, but he did not speak anything of it. He would hate to accidentally provoke her, or worse. He instinctively moved back as the mare tossed a cupcake to him, but then quickly recovered from his flinch and caught it with his magic. The mare spoke.

"So why is someone who is interesting in spell crafting here in Ponyville?"

Logik hesitated a second before answering this question, but then decided that it would do no harm to tell Clockwork his story. "Well, I came here for the peace and quiet that I have heard this town has an abundance of, to get away from some...undesirable ponies in my life... You see...I am quite talented in what I do, very skilled at the craft." Logik realized that he might sound as if he was bragging, which he had not meant to do. He hoped the mare wouldn't think anything of it. "However, because of that, back in Canterlot many people pushed me to do things with my life that I didn't want to do. I wanted the freedom to go my own way, and so I came here."

The Unicorn took a bite of the cupcake he had been given. "And...you? For what reason would you be here?"

" Ah, well unlike you, I was ridiculed for my talent and potential back home. so I hopped on my scooter at a young age and set up shop here. i started out making toys and music boxes, but now I can create anything i feel like."

she described to him her less than detailed history on how she got here and began to drink her shake, waiting for a reply from Logik, wondering if he has a follow up question

"Ah, well unlike you, I was ridiculed for my talent and potential back home. so I hopped on my scooter at a young age and set up shop here. I started out making toys and music boxes, but now I can create anything I feel like."

"Ah, I see." Logik took a bite from his cupcake. "Are you well known in the area? From what I've seen, it seems that you are quite skilled at what you do, though I wouldn't call myself an expert in the field by far."

"more like my work is. Not many Ponies actually know me, but they know my work. anyway Logik, since were talking about careers, what have you done in your line of work so far?"

she asked with a calm tone as she pulls out a bag with some bits in it, getting her payment ready for her food.

"Ah. I see..."

"Anyway Logik, since were talking about careers, what have you done in your line of work so far?"

"My line of work? Well..." He finished his cupcake, picking up another one. These really were good. Much different from the pastries found in Canterlot, for sure. "I would say that I usually just try out things that...well that I believe may be useful. It can be anything really. Back in Canterlot, though, I suppose some of my more well known works were when I was experimenting with cross-dimensional bipolar magic, and my work with non-elemental destruction magic drew relative attention as well. I don't care for the attention myself, though. I just do what I feel I want to do, and if I help somepony along the way, then that only makes it better..."

"sounds like what you are doing would cause more harm then good."

she stated and pulled out what can only be described as a mechanical Bird. she began to wind it up as she began to talk once again.

" But like i believe i said before, don't trust magic. at least if a machine fails, i can repair it and no one gets hurt or the fabric of space collapsing."

with the end of the sentence, she let the bird go and it made a metallic chirp and began to fly around the place, chirping until it returned to their table, still having enough wind for another few laps.

"now, if your done eating, I'll pay the bill and we can just talk a little more here or perhaps if your on a schedule, say out a dews and see each other on a less busy time. speaking of, feel free to stop by my place with that gem, I should get a prototype done by the end of next week."

"But like I believe I said before, I don't trust magic. At least if a machine fails, I can repair it and no one gets hurt or the fabric of space collapsing."

Logik nods to this. "I suppose that is true. I would never attempt such an unstable spell without the proper precautions, though. Although I suppose there is always a danger..."

The Unicorn watched as the mare pulled out a mechanical bird, winding it and then sending it off to fly around the pair, chirping as it did so. He observed the small 'creature' the whole way, up until it landed on the table they sat in once again.

"Now, if you're done eating, I'll pay the bill and we can just talk a little more here or perhaps if your on a schedule, say out a dews and see each other on a less busy time. Speaking of, feel free to stop by my place with that gem, I should get a prototype done by the end of next week."

Logik looked down at the table surface. Indeed, all of the cupcakes that had been given were now gone. Well, that was certainly quick... "I suppose that payment may be in order. I would like to insist that I pay the expenses, though." That was the proper thing to do, after all. "And I don't believe I have any pressing matters to attend to at this moment, so if you would like we can most likely come by my home and retrieve the gem right now. That is, only if you would want to do so."

"Well this project benefits you as much as it entertains me. you will have to lead the way though as I don't know were you live."

Clockwork packed up the bird and went to the counter to pay for her food and seeming to place an order for more sweets to be delivered.

"so, shall we head off?"

Logik nods. "Very well."

The Unicorn stands up and slowly walks to the building entrance, waiting for his new acquaintance to finish up what she attends to at the counter. Within a minute or two she returns, apparently ready to leave.

"So, shall we head off?"

Logik nods once again. "Indeed we shall."

The Unicorn walks out of the building with Clockwork following close behind, and he proceeds to lead the mare through the streets of Ponyville towards his current home. Within only a few minutes the pair arrives at his home, located a bit of ways away from the town center and looking just as average as any other house on the street.

"Well, there it is..."
