Personality: Lacking the privilege of speech, Divertimento often struggles to convey his thoughts and opinions. However, his demeanor and frequent gesturing indicate that he is of moderate intentions, as well as docile by nature. As another supplementary mode of expression, he is unusually physical, albeit gently so. Inwardly, Divertimento is fearful and suspicious of others; and as such, can become overprotective of his best friend, Rhapsody.
Likes: His Viola, performing with Rhapsody, practicing, classical music, successfully articulating his point, nighttime
Dislikes: Strangers, confusion, loud noises, long monologues
History: As a foal, Divertimento refused to communicate with others. His parents were left to conclude that he has been born with the inability to recognize and interpret speech. Nonetheless, they loved their son; his mother, singing him to sleep each night with soothing lullabies.

On one night in particular, frustrated and teary-eyed, his mother lamented that she would never be able to tell little Divertimento how much she loved him. Miraculously, he answered her; selecting and reciprocating the sweetest words from her own lullabies. Overjoyed, his parents promptly arranged for his musical education at the Crystal Empire’s Musical Academy for Gifted Fillies and Colts. There, he would meet and befriend Rhapsody.

The Crystal Empire was soon overwhelmed by King Sombra and his ensuing reign of terror. During this time, Divertimento regressed to his totally inert state.

When the curse was ultimately lifted, Divertimento resolved to travel Equestria with Rhapsody and share their musical talent with everypony.

Prompt Reponse

A colt is bullying a filly in the Manehattan street. When you OC looks to him, he turns to your OC and snaps, “What’re you looking at?” Given your OC’s personality, compose a brief narrative in which your OC identifies and addresses the situation.

The sound of distant bickering alarmed Divertimento. As he peered around the corner into the dimness of an alley, he spotted the colt in the act of harassing a small filly. Instinctively, Divertimento detached from the corner and stood at the alleyway entrance, casting a spindly shadow which attracted the attention of the colt.

“What’re you looking at?” He hissed.

Naturally, Divertimento did not reply; nor, in the excitement of the moment, did he remember to act at all.

The colt paused for a moment, taken aback by the awkward stillness. “Sooo…” he resumed cautiously. “Were you going to do something, or–?”

Divertimento suddenly and haphazardly darted into the fray; unsure of what would happen, but fortunately deterring the colt nonetheless.

The colt fled, though the filly who remained seemed more dismayed than appreciative. Eagerly, she too departed, leaving Divertimento to reflect on what had been a rather absurd situation.
