| There was nothing quite like the hive of scum and villainy that was Manehattan. No other city had been corrupted by greed and tainted by lust as much as the jungle of concrete and steel that I lived in. Still, ponies dragged themselves out of bed each morning to face their days choked by smog and soot, knowing that this is where they will perish, but hoping that a golden heart would shine through.
It first began whilst I was sipping a cup of tea. Other investigators swore by coffee but they usually cursed the brew in the same breath. I prefer my pick me up not fill me with equal parts joy and rage. It was the sound of the sirens that first came to my attention. In this place, there could be no good news coming from a sign like that.
---
They say you money couldn't buy you happiness, and the look of terror on the stallion's deceased face heavily supported this. A rich, famous, pony. Influential. Important. Flying high, burning bright, before being cruelly cut down in his prime. Death comes to us all, the rich and the poor.
But it didn't come to him quickly. No, the reaper hesitated in his final blow to allow the stallion his final words. A list of names, one of which was surprisingly mine. It was because of this that I was now on this boat with a curious collection of ponies. We were all going to the stallion's island mansion to get to the bottom of this gruesome killing. Was the murderer among us? I cast a glance over my companions.
Any one of them could be a killer... | |

| The last thing Star expected on a morning like this was to get a note. Sure, she was a renowned forensic detective, but her services were generally consulted by phone, not by letter. Leaning against the door frame of her humble abode as she sipped her milk tea, she slit open the letter cleanly and unfolded the contents. "Hm... A murder..." she read aloud, curiosity already piqued. "Interesting... Jacques Trottingsted? Seems like an open and shut case to me. Whoever killed this guy obviously knew their anatomy. Wounds to the stomach mean a drawn out, painful death..." Shrugging, she set down her mug and pulled on her coat, checking the time as she slipped on her saddle bag. "I got tons of time to get down to the dock." With that, she set off towards her destination - Pearl Harbour, named after it's flourishing pearling industry.
Reaching the bay with steady time, Star was surprised to find a boat ready and waiting. There were a few ponies on it already, all of them seeming just as confused as herself. It appeared that she was the last one. Climbing aboard, she felt the boat jolt as they set off for their mystery destination. Something bad was going to happen today. She could just feel it. | |

| Sunny Days thought this was the happiest day of her life. Her boss, the head newspaper reporter, had just called her. He said she would be the pony to observe and take notes of the crime scene, and overall investigation. She couldn't possibly explain why SHE would be the one to do this. All Sunny ever did was interview ponies for her little newspaper article. Either way, she was ecstatic. She gulped down her coffee and put on her saddle bag. She looked in the bathroom mirror to make sure her mane was decent. She was going to be working alongside an infamous forensic detective! She was the first one to get on the boat. When everyone was there, she could hardly contain herself. Sunny was sure that this was going to be the best story she had ever written up.

| Working late one night on some paperwork Rez got a call from his captain saying that he was needed at the trottingsted manor .of course i was thinking it was maybe some stolen items ubtill he told me how urgent it was. if its that urgent then it wouldnt be about an item because they have the money to replace things .this caught my attention besides it would feel good to get out from behind the desk.
When rez got to the docks he saw that there were alreay a few ponys on the boat a journalist and a very reknowned forensics expert. wow this must be serieouse he thought to himself. | |

| Sylvia Lining stood at a dock, brought by a letter of a familiar colleague. She was enjoying a peaceful vacation in Los Pegasus, being invited by one of her cousins to a celebration for his acceptance into the professional medical world.
It was all going swimmingly, with her newly-graduated cousin having a fit over how many bits he lost during a game of cards. He nearly pummeled the Pegasus who was delivering his letters out of blind fury. In the mass of congratulatory notes was a single letter for Sylvia. But unlike the notes it was delivered with, it bore tragic news. Her old friend, Jacques Trottingsted, had been murdered, and she was being asked to come to his home. Of course, she immediately came. 'Poor, poor Jacques. Such a humble stallion, yet dying such a tragic death.' She thought as she waited.
Meanwhile, a stallion arrived at the dock. This stallion was like any average stallion, a normal burgundy build and a dark brown mane. Burgundy wings adorned his sides. He seemed to be wearing a gray suit, complete with a red tie. He seemed more like a stallion coming to collect a debt than a visitor. With a look of impatience, he raised his hoof to his face, checking the valuable watch. 'I don't have time for this...'
After an hour or two, more ponies came to the bay, and soon they all boarded the boat and began heading towards the island that stood solemnly on the empty sea.
---
Elizabeth Trottingsted stood on the dock of her father's island. Her short, curly, blonde mane flew behind her as the breeze came by, receiving no reaction from the young filly. Her cream-colored hooves sat persistently against the cold breeze, not even flinching as a wave struck the dock, getting numerous drops of water on her lovely red dress. She didn't care anymore. She wanted to find out who took her daddy away from her. And if the killer was really in that boat, she was going to wait until the end of the world for it to arrive.
A tall, gray unicorn stallion stood behind the petite, young filly. Beside him was a tray that held a number of snacks, being held by a soft blue glow of magic. The stallion sighed, watching as the boat drew closer to the dock. He looked down at the tenacious filly, speaking with a calm, professional voice. "Dear mistress, are you sure you do not wish to eat? Would you like to go back inside? It seems as though it is about to rain..."
"Shush, Oliver. I want to see these ponies for myself. I will avenge my father and put the killer to justice, and a little rain won't stop me." The filly retorted, her voice making it clear that he should stop pestering her. Oliver didn't say any more as they continued to wait. | |

| Loyal Mercy, private investigator, cleaner of dirty messes, and tier of loose ends, was on edge. It would make sense if the list of ponies that the late Jacques Trottingsted had listed a number of his close acquaintances on his dying breaths, but the ponies he did summon was just plain strange.
And if this truly was a scheme to reveal his killer, why the theatrics? Why simply not say this pony killed me? Why bring a collection of random ponies to his estate? Did he even know what hit him?
Maybe...maybe he didn't and this was just a way to gather all the ponies he knew that could possibly solve this whodunnit in one place to solve his murder. Loyal, for her part, was surprised that the rich pony had remembered her. Trottingsted just happened to get caught up in a missing pony case that Loyal had to pursue. It turned out to be an unfortunate misunderstanding, but Mercy must have made a greater impression than she thought...
"So," she said to the boat at large, "Any of you folks know why we were brought here?" | |

| Upon first getting on the boat, Star had checked out everyone gathered and made small notes in her head. Black market dealer, Detective, Reporter, Model, and someone else I don't know... She frowned. She could make neither heads or tails of this gathering. Why them? The only one that actually made sense was the detective. She might have understood her own appearance had she known who had contacted her, but there was no contact details, signature, any symbol of ownership on the blunt invitation she had received.
Satisfied by her recent collection of mental information, she turned and focused on the rolling waves, trying to connect the dots as she let her mind free to roam. Of course, she kept a loose track of what kind of lead it was following, but otherwise occupied herself with just enjoying the beauty of the sea meeting the sky. She smiled as she saw a small pod of dolphins happily chattering in the distance as they leapt in and out of the water, their bluey-grey bodies glistening in the sun.
Star was soon snapped out of her reverie, however, by the detective speaking up. she was surprised to find that she, the only one who probably had a reason to be there, seemed to be just as clueless as the rest of them. She shook her head in response to her question.
"I'm sorry, but I can't help you there. All I got was a note this morning with no identification at all, instructing me to come to the dock at a specified time. I don't even know the victim." she replied coolly, revealing little in the presence of strangers.

| Sunny Days exciting mood turned into a curious one when she heard the lead investigator speak. Sure, her boss told her to come, but he never told her where he got the source. Maybe, he sent Sunny because he feared of his life if he went. If this suspicion is true, Sunny reminded herself to keep her guard up. And then reality hit her. She would be on an island for who knows how long with the killer. She would have to send a letter to her boss asking who told him to go. After all this, she told the investigator, "My boss called me this morning, ma'am, but I don't know who told him to go, he never told me," Sunny said truthfully. Sunny wished she could be anywhere but here, in a boat going to a remote island with complete strangers.

| "Well knowing how urgent it was it wasnt for a dinner party and not for a simple crime either. no something is up and i think we are all here to figure that out." Rez said looking toward the island and going through his memorys.
"I dont know how many times i was called here because somepony tryed to sneak in and or steal something but i know if that was the case why bring all of us. i know he trusts me and im usually hte one he calls for help with that sort of stuff." He said now looking at the other ponys. | |
