Here at Last

Sky stepped off of the train, and promptly shields her eyes with her hoof. Celestia hadn't slacked off. Or maybe it was the fact that she slept for half the ride. Either way, she was in a town she knew next to nothing about. She proceeded to sit on a nearby bench.
Maybe if I sit here for a while, someone will come by and show me around. For a little while. I'm sure I can find my way around on my own if need be.

Shinygear sat on a bench at the train station waiting for somepony that he knew probably wasn't coming today. His little sister. He still enjoyed sitting on that same bench each day, pretending the train would stop in front of him and his 12-year-old favorite little unicorn would hop off. Shiny sighed.

Sky looked over all of the ponies. she was looking for one that seemed trustworthy. Already, she likes this place more than Canterlot.
At least it's less likely for you to get mugged...
Her eyes soon befell a maroon unicorn with a gear cutie mark
Mechanics? Then he must be helpful.
For some reason she felt compelled to trust this stallion. He had an air of helpfulness, and care.
Here goes nothing.
"Um, excuse me mister, but uh, can I ask you a favor?"

Shinygear looked up the young filly and smiled. "Sure. What can I do?" he asked. He nothing to do but wait, so something as simple as helping a young one out in a busy train station could possibly get his mind off things.

Sky shuffled her wings slightly, somewhat annoyed at herself for having to ask for help like this.
"Um, I was wondering if maybe you could, um... m-maybe help me find my way around town?", she asked

Shinygear stood up. "Sure! I have nothing to do at the moment, so why not?" He smiled as he picked up his saddlebag and slung it over his back.

Sky smiled brightly.Back in Canterlot, nopony would have even considered her question. And now this stallion, a complete stranger, no less.
"Thank you so much!", she said. She could look for her brother later, right now she would need to get acquainted with the town. After all, she planned on living here as long as her brother was.

Shinygear started trotting along. "By the way, my name is Shinygear. Pleased to make your acquaintance." Shiny bowed jokingly. This young filly seemed to be around the same age as his sister. 'they seem like they could be good friends...' he thought to himself.

Sky smiled. She wondered if the rest of the town was as friendly as Shinygear.
"It's nice to meet you, Shinygear! My name's Sky. Sky High", she said as she trotted beside the stallion. Oddly enough, he reminded her of her own brother. What with the trust and friendliness. But with the thought of her brother came a fear.
How in the world am I going to convince him to let me stay... eh. I'm sure he'll just accept that I'm not leaving unless he is. I mean, it's not he can just send me on my way home. Can he?, the filly thought as she began to lose herself to the questions she asked herself.

Shinygear looked down at Sky. "Just out of curiousity, are you looking for somepony? You have a perplexed looking face on." he laughed lightly.

Sky quickly snapped out of thought.
"Oh, um, what? Oh! Yes, actually. My big brother was moved from Canterlot to here by his bosses. He's a guards-pony.", she explained, no longer afraid to speak her past to Shinygear. "I'm... really not supposed to be here, but he's been more of a parent to me than my actually parents."
"Couple o' Canterlot snobs...", she muttered under her breath.

"I see...hm, I think I know of a few guardponies, but...wait...you said he was your brother, right? His name couldn't possibly be Noble Shield, could it?" Shiny said, grinning. He had met Noble just recently, and so the name was still fresh in his mind.
((dang, mixing RP's has always been hard for me!))

Sky's smile widened at the mention of her brother's name
"You've met him!?", she "asked".
"Oh, please please please tell me that you met him on one of his patrols!"

((You get used to it. Let's say that this takes place, maybe a little under a day since Shinygear met Noble, maybe?))

((alright!))

"Yeah, I met him yesterday in town square!" Shiny replied, glad he could help. "I don't know where he is now of course..." he said, frowning.

Sky smiled even brighter.
"Well, it doesn't matter now! If you can take me to where you met him on patrol, I can wait there, and he'll come to me!"
Sky let out a squee of excitement and quickened her pace. "What are ya waiting for, Shiny? Come on, let's go!"

Shinygear laughed. "Alright, I'm coming!" he said as he ran after her towards town square. 'Yep, this filly reminds me of my sister...'
