Adventure in the Everfree

"Well, let's hope we find what you're hoping to find." Vastile look calm and passive, but underneath the glasses, his eyes were sharp and attentive, looking at the tree line and staying alert, if anything were to present itself.

"What might have been left behind, when our dear NightMare Moon left home, eh? Hopefully nothing that can harm anypony..." Vastile's mind was spinning in order to recall all that had been written and said about NightMare Moon and Princess Luna.

"Either way... I think caution is the word of the day... At least, when it comes to The Everfree Forest."

"Well of course. It's not like I'd enter the forest unprepared." Stormy rolled her eyes, "I can deal with monsters. I'm not helpless ya know." she snapped, checking her book again.

"It says the fog should clear up before we get there." she said as the fog began to float away, "So we're getting closer."

Vastile smiled at her little outburst. He can tell that she was capable. Vastile was speaking more to himself than her, anyway.

As they walked a bit more, Vastile began to send his floater to areas that interested him. The random Post, waving bush, or swift motion. This was his way of entertaining himself, as well as check certain places.

Vastile pulled out a book from his case and scratched a few quick lines on it, then quickly tossed it back into it's place. "Ee-yup. This is going to give me a few ideas for old Whizzy and myself."

"Ideas? Such as?" Stormy asked, curious. Vastile and this "Whizbang" intrigued her, though normally she wouldn't care for such meaningless toys. But their inventions sounded cool, and she couldn't help but ask.

"oh, hold that thought." she said as they stepped out of the fog. Across a rickety bridge stood the ruins of a once great castle, and Stormy stared at it. She took out her journal and began sketching a quick drawing of it.

"Bridges... They never last long in places like these." Vastile sighed and looked at Storm.

"Wings... You've got this." Vastile took of his case and stuck most of his body inside, rummaging around for something to help.

Vastile leaned back. "Well... I don't really have anything in here to help me get across that bridge."


Vastile took a long look at the bridge and began to think of a few plans. "Well. I'm just gonna run really fast at it."

Stormy laughed, "I'm sure it's well made. I mean, it's survived, what, a thousand years here?" she grinned, unfolding her wings and heading to the sky. She flew silently to the other side, landing lightly on the soft ground and waiting for Vastile.

"I wonder what we'll find." she said excitedly to him, "I hope we uncover something."

"It may have survived a thousand years, but who knows when it was last used..." Vastile hoisted his cast up and onto his back and poised for a good run.

"1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... I'm stalling..." Vastile sighed and began to run as fast as he could over the bridge. He was half-way across, when a board gave way and sent him through the bridge.

Vastile feel for a moment. His case snagged onto the ropes of the bridge, as the broken boards feel into the water far below.

His mind emptied and he became utterly focused. He flipped upside down and startled his case, opening it slightly to get something from inside.

"Give me... A minute... I'll be over... there soon." Vastile pulled out a trombone and was sticking it on top of the bridges ropes. He then detached his case and hung from his Trombone. Swinging, he managed to make it to the other side and climb up, but as he went to grab his Trombone, it fell into the water."

"Aww... That was a good Trombone... Also, I almost died... But, that Trombone..."

Vastile turned around and got his things together, he took out his book, and wrote 4 words inside, "Get a New Trombone..."

Stormy had to suppress another laugh as he used his trombone to pull himself up. "Well that's certainly a way to get across."

Turning to the castle, she stopped to take a breath. This was the place she'd been looking for since she moved to Ponyville. The place shrouded in mystery that held dark secrets, the only reason she'd been able to find it was because her friend had been there and given her directions.

"This is it." she whispered, taking a step through the wrecked doorway. A cloud of bats woke up, startled, and flew over her head and outside. Sounds resonated throughout the ruins, and creaking noises came from upstairs. "Wow." was all Stormy could say.

Vastile watched on and looked at the top of the castle. "Huh..."

He really wasn't sure what could be inside. It was either nothing or nothing friendly...

"Well then, Let's take a look." Vastile started for the entrance.

Stormy's lips turned up in a smile as she twirled around in the foyer. Her yellow eyes searched every little corner, and her ears listened for every sound.

"This is amazing." she stated, coming out of her daze as she began to rush around. She darted about the whole room, looking for anything useful to her research. She picked up old vases, studied the bookcase, even picked up the dusty rugs in search of any kind of trigger. There had to be a secret room, or something. Otherwise her work was for nothing.
