A Bee Catastrophe

Country Song, an adult stallion with a light green mane, a hat similar to to another pony's and a vest walked towards a table next to Honey Buzz and her friend at sat down ready to order.

"Waitress, ah'm ready ta 'rder" Said Country song with his very thick and noticeable Southern Accent as he placed the case his guitar was in behind him. The waitress walked over to Country and asked what him what he would like.

"Yes, ah would like, the Appleloosa-Style Cider an' tha'll be it." He said. He then picked up his guitar out of his case and took out a piece of paper with it. He began to sing part of a song to himself loud enough so that only neighboring tables could hear him along with strumming his guitar a little a some parts.

"Winters getting colder, Summer gettin warmer
Tidal wave comin' cross the Mexicoltan border
Why buy a gallon o' cider, it's cheaper by the barrel
Just don't get busted singing Warming Carols"

After he was done singing he wrote down the words to the song he sang on the paper.

" ah yes, you certainly are interested in your bees but no shame in that and i find it very interesting, you give them more life than any text i have read on the subject." Heartspan replied " As far as dreams go i have many many of them and i plan to full fill at least some, the dragons stuff maybe is too much."

he watched a traveler walk in carrying a guitar case. the pony tool a seat at a near by table as heartspan yawned into one of his hooves.

" Then again maybe i will take up your advice and full fill all my many dreams." he said with a warm smile tucking the coldness in his spirit further away. " i will say you are some good company my bee loving new friend. So, i am glad i have taken up some of your free time."

In that moment their food arrived and as if on cue the traveler began to play the guitar he had earlier pulled from his case. heartspan listened to the song but he was not a fan of country music himself and was left feeling rather annoyed though he kept it to himself as he began to eat his pancakes. The flavor bringing with it a warm reminiscent feeling as well as a pang of unforgettably deep sorrow that seemed to match well the words of the strangers song.

Country Song turned around and asked the ponies behind him," 'Scuse me. But is mah music botherin' yah?"

The waitress came over with Country Song's order.

"Thank yah." He said to the waitress. "Mah name's Country Song and ah'm a Country Music Singer. What's ya'll's two names?" He asked the two ponies.

(Sorry if it's short. It's late atm of me typing it).

Honey Buzz paused and turned around to look at Country Song. She smiled, a bite of pancake in her mouth. She swallowed quickly before replying.

"I'm Honey Buzz. If you couldn't tell by my name, I love bees." She turned her head a bit to take another bite and then looked back at the stallion. "I thought your music was nice."

Just then, Beeatrice flew from Honey's mane and began buzzing noisily about the stallion's head. Honey Buzz's eyes widened and she reached out to grab the bee but couldn't get to her. Beeatrice flew around and around the stallion, completely oblivious to Honey's attempts to stop her.

"Oh my goodness! Beeatrice, get back here!"

The bee ignored her and flew over to Heartspan, through his mane, and then back over to Country Song in a split second. Honey covered her eyes, fearful of the commotion Beeatrice would likely cause.

“ 'Scuse me. But is mah music botherin' yah?" …..the stranger began

Heartspan ate carefully as the stranger introduced himself as 'Countrysong” It seemed a fitting name for a wandering guitarist as far as heart was concerned. He watched as honey buzz introduced herself, offering a small smile of his own but no name to go alongside it.

Truth be told, heartspan was not all bothered. The genre was trash as far as he thought but the pony had talent and talent can never be looked down on. Not to mention it mirrored his current inner mood and this was acceptable as far as he felt. He lifted a fork full of pancake to his mouth pausing as beeatrice darted out from her shelter among Honey's tresses. He slid the warm and tasty piece of food into his mouth as the bee darted this way and that. Beeatrice seemed to have taken a liking to Countrysong as she floated this way and that, all around the musician. All the while honey attempted to snatch the little creature.

"Oh my goodness! Beeatrice, get back here!" …..honeybuzz exclaimed in concern.

Heart simply smiled and took another bite of his food. He had formed an instant liking of the little bee ever since he had run into it earlier in the morning and found the antics quite delightful even when beeatrice darted through his own disheveled mane.

However beeatrice was not so welcome a sight, and as honey covered her eyes in concern heart could see patrons beginning to react. Some shrieked in surprise, others glowered in anger, and some ponies just didn't care one bit. He heard the couple in the table behind him exclaim some form of swear before grabbing their plates and dashing to another more bee free part of the diner.

Heart allowed just a touch of magic to flow into his horn. A very feeble blue and violet light flickering for just a moment as his spell focused. He laced his power into his words and calmly addressed beeatrice.

“ Come along now Beeatrice, fun's over.” he whispered and within the instant beeatrice flew over and landed on his shoulder.

His eyes found an angry waitress sauntering over and he looked at honey.

“ eyes open new friend, I believe we will getting a scolding withing the moment. ” he said politely before looking at Country song “ Sorry about the interruption Countrysong, My name is heartspan.”

With that short introduction out of the way he set down his fork and turned to the oncoming storm of a mare rolling up her uniform sleeves. By the look on her face as she cut through the crowd and the tables it was going to be one buck of a storm.

"Ah've been 'round bees before so I don't mind at all." He said. "An' if we do get scolded than let's hope it ain't severe." He said.

Honey Buzz tentatively removed her hooves from her eyes and glanced up to see Beeatrice on Heart's shoulder and a waitress storming over to their table. Oh no. She squeezed her eyes shut and then popped them open, letting a fake smile land upon her face.

"It's okay, I'm sure we'll be able to deal with it." She said reassuringly, although she was terrified of the pony hurrying up to them. She reached across the table and gently pushed Beeatrice out of sight, into Heartspan's mane.

"Sorry, but I don't want her running off again. She seems to like you." Honey said, leaning back to her side of the table and glancing around, stuffing her mouth with pancakes like nothing had happened. As the waitress got closer, she looked up with a mouth so full that pancakes were hanging out.

"Ohf! Hewo! Ha ood here i' elishus!" She said through the pancakes, knowing it probably didn't make much sense, but just trying to distract the waitress, hoping she would forget. Unfortunately, she knew it wouldn't be resolved that quickly, but she hoped it could be. She hated conflict and she hadn't meant to cause a problem. In fact, it wasn't even really her fault.

But I guess you can't exactly blame a bee.

The waitress arrived in all her fury. She sent a scathing glance at honey buzz talking with her mouth impossibly full.

" Well, it makes sense you lot wouldn't have any manners." the waitress fired " So which one of you brought that filthy insect into MY RESTAURANT'? "

Her gaze seared through heartspan as she looked him over. Then her withering stare turned to honey buzz.

" I knew you lot were trouble from the get go." she said " So fess up before i really lose my patience."

heartspan risked a glance over at Honey. He swallowed hard seeing her mouth so overfull with breakfast cakes.

" Well, i suppose that would be me." he replied " See i am a bee farmer and they just follow along sometimes."

He was surprised at how effortlessly he could lie these days. There had been a time, in what seemed ages ago, when the thought of even a white lie would have been frowned on. These days though, what ever served his purpose seemed a reasonable venture, lying included. The waitress rounded on him and as she opened her mouth the vent her rage he simply cast a spell on her.

Though it was not any ordinary magic. He reached down into the pit of emptiness that lurked deep within and he pulled forth a measure of that darkness and with it he wove a spell. For just a moment his irises gleamed red and a flash of green light passed over his eyes.

He held back the violet flames that threatened to leak out of the corners of his eyes out of a need for secrecy. Then as words began to form on the waitresses lips he released the spell. Her eyes flashed green for just a single heart beat. She stood slack jawed for a moment and then slowly she closed her mouth.

Our meal is on the house.....you are delighted we stopped here...and you must return to the kitchen......

these were the commands heartspan bid her as his dark magic reached deep into the pit of the earth pony mares spirit.

" Er...yes...." she spoke hesitantly as the commands firmly took root in her mind " Sorry for the intrusion, I just wanted to say how delighted i am you all stopped in for breakfast. The meals are on the house of course. I have to ...er...go back to work...."

With out a further word the waitress turned and wandered away as if she were just a little lost in the end vanishing behind the door to the kitchen.

(er...hope this one is ok too ^^ )

"Now that that's done with fer the moment." He said "So what re' ya'll plans fer today?" Country asked the two. "Ah'm havin' a performance later today if ya'll would like to come." He asked the two.

Honey Buzz watched in awe as the mare walked back into the kitchen, confused. "I was just gonna suggest that I report her for yelling at a customer. I wonder what came over her."

Honey had never really understood unicorn magic, so the thought of mind control didn't even occur to her. She glanced back at Country song with a smile. "A performance? That sounds like fun." She paused and looked back at Heart.

"Did you want to see my bee farm today or another time?" She asked, taking another bite of her almost finished pancakes. "What time is the performance, Country? I guess it kind of depends on that. I have to run home and drop Beeatrice off, of course, and tend to the bees I didn't get finished, but it shouldn't take me too long."

heartspan finished the last few bites of his meal. Then he carefully wiped his face.

" i think I will have to pass on seeing your performance." he said " i have had little sleep and country music is not really my interest, no offense intended of course." he said to country song as he stood from the booth.

" I believe i will take a tour of your place another time as well miss Honey Buzz. " he said with a slight bow " Unless of course you need help with your chores. i am always willing to lend a hoof."

He removed beeatrice from his mane and sat the little bee on the table.

" best not forget this one, seems she likes to roam about." he offered politely.

"Mah performance is at 4:25 PM Honey." He replied. "Please try and make it if ya can." He said. "Ah'll be askin' fer ponies ta come up and help me as background singers. And Heart it's yer opinion so ah completely understand." He told Heartspan.
