Basil Dusk

As a child Basil Dusk had it made pretty well for him. His mother [Play Writer] and father [Pastry Chef] both were happy and well to do, spoiling their little foal as often as possible.
As he grew he developed quite a bad disposition towards his classmates and strangers. Through his difficulty to socialize he found others avoiding him, however he did have one friend that wedged their way into his life despite all of that. Diamond Dust insisted on being friends with Basil Dusk to ensure the fact that one day she'd be able to plan his wedding. After getting close enough to him she invited him to her home, where he was given the opportunity to help her father cook dinner and learned how to set the table; in turn he earned his cutie mark.
Growing older, eventually his disposition softened and he began to focus on cooking and studying business, hoping one day to own his own restaurant.

Rain was pounding down on the earth, filling up gutters and pouring off shingles in tiny waterfalls. There were the soft rumbles of thunder in the distance that warned of heavier weather to come.
'It seems like going out today was a bad idea' , Basil Dusk thought. He silently scolded himself, eyes scanning the area around in search for shelter from the blistering cold water that threatened him. A light flickered slightly, illuminating a tavern's sign just enough for him to catch it. Although a tavern was not the first thing that came to mind, it was right there. And so he went.
The air inside the building was damp and musty, the smell of a cluster of hot, wet bodies mingling. The overlay of an Apple Cider scent made the experience even worse. He noticed the stared that were aimed his way, though he did not meet them. Silently, he made his way over to an empty seat. It was going to be a long wait before he was able to go home safely, even longer when he had to listen to the noisy crowd around him. Scrunching his face up, the male glared bitterly at the ponies around him.
" At least it's dry " he muttered to himself before beginning a long stare off with the pattern on the wood table in front of him.
