" />
Gender: Female
Species: Earth pony
Mane: Deep blue in a short cut and fringe.
Tail: Ankle length, natural, also a deep blue that it Sometimes cropped short.
Eyes: Emerald green.
Body: Stocky but not short.
Cutie Mark: The clock and stem of a Moon dandelion in long grass
Age (Baby, adult): Adult
Influences: Her parents own a florist shop so naturally she knew many things about flowers before she'd even left for school. She doesn't have any siblings, which works out just fine for her. She doesn't have an idol as such but she does have a soft spot for Princess Luna, grateful in a way for the night time that allows her special flowers to bloom. She isn't sure what she would do if she met the princess exactly, most likely be to nervous to move.
Personality: In a good mood Midnight is a good listener and very attentive to ponies she likes, easygoing with a small group but quickly becoming more introverted with larger numbers. By her cart she smiles and acts in a friendly manner, holding up signs to call attention to her flowers, sometimes adding small dances to it when she's particularly happy. She often wonders if she'd be brave enough to chance taking some of her flowers to Canterlot, but has yet to work up the nerve and figure out how to transport her plants over such a distance.
On her own she's almost happy go lucky, confident and with a keen sense of self. She is willing to help, but not going out of her way to do so. Maybe it's a little selfish but with a town full of ponies better suited to certain tasks she really can't see why ponies would think that. Midnight is a loner most of the time but amicable when with familiar faces. In her element it's like a completely different pony, around her precious flowers she could be as giddy as a filly and excitable to boot, yet tender and nurturing to every plant she finds that bloom during her favourite time of day.
Her work usually means she is up at odd hours and her dislikes for mornings came along with her job, being awake in the morning means either she hasn't slept yet or has been woken up far too early and can be very irritable when woken up. Not that she’d do much about it but will glare at anyone foolish enough to interrupt sleep.
Likes: She likes nature, animals and night time strolls. Midnight enjoys the quiet of her home and has grown used to the otherwise creepy and scary sounds that sometimes crop up in places there. Sugary treats, but then who doesn't?
Dislikes: Midnight is uneasy around crowded spaces, very loud sudden noises, and mornings. Nor Yappy ponies that go on without preamble. Heights terrify this little earth pony.
History: Midnight had been an odd little filly, blank flank and hadn't said a work in all her years of schooling. Her parents worried that something might be wrong with her and tried everything to get her to talk, but she never said a word. She understood them well enough; she did as she was told without argument.
Needless to say she was teased for it on occasion which put her off trying to make friends at first but quickly saw that not all ponies were like that. She stayed with the ones who didn't mind her quietness, they made things so much brighter and her school years passed without anything worse than the infrequent taunts but they too died out soon enough.
Her cutie mark appeared while on a walk through the Everfree forest, stumbling upon a small patch of blue/green looking plants. They didn't seem to be doing too well so she started making it her daily routine to visit the flowers and water them when it got too dry and finding different plant foods to use. By chance one night she'd missed the daily walk so set off a little later, navigating the woods in the dark, but she'd walked so often there she could have made it blindfolded. What she saw amazed her, these flowers bloomed at night, looking pale and stunningly beautiful under the moonlight. Her flank tingled and she found one of the blooms there, the same pale and dark colours she'd just seen.
Example RP segment: (Refer to post below)
After making up at noon and making a quick trip to the grove and selecting several flowers that looked ready to bloom later that evening, Midnight placed them very carefully into pots and put them on the old cart she'd salvaged a while back. It was old and needed a new lick of paint but it got the job done. She slipped into the harness and navigated her way into Ponyville. It was pretty busy, being lunch time, not her favourite time of day but it was the best time to start selling her rare blooms.
She trotted towards the market square but stopped dead in her tracks, almost knocking into a small figure. She blinked down at the little filly sitting on the road looking terribly upset, eyes and nose running and sniffling loudly. She really had no idea what to do here; she didn't exactly spend a lot of time with colts and fillies, especially not crying ones. She looked around hoping to find another mare looking for the small pony. No one seemed to be looking for anything and most would just walk passed. She looked down at the filly again and was caught by the massive watery eyes and trembling lip. Darn it all, Midnight wasn't heartless but she would have preferred to not deal with this, it was weird. She sighed and pulled her cart up behind the filly and backed out of the harness and sat with the little pony. She wanted to ask where the filly was supposed to be but, she didn't exactly have that ability. So instead she smiled, hoping it would cheer up the little one. At least the sniffling had stopped.
Thinking about what to do Midnight struck the most heroic pose she could think of. Puffing out her chest with a serious look on her face and raised a hoof up to her head and looked around, making it over the top and amusing the little Filly who was now giggling at this mare's antics. Soon the two of them were scanning the crowd together, the little filly on Midnight's back so she could see over people's heads.
The lunch crowd began thinning out and the filly was getting upset again, and Midnight was getting tired of waiting, not that she'd just leave the little one there that would be cruel. Out of nowhere somepony shouted from across the street. "MY BABY!" It spooked Midnight who spun around to see who had shouted, and watched the little filly jump down and run towards her mother who was coming at the two of them at a gallop. Midnight sat in relief and smiled at the reunion, the mare smiled back and walked with her daughter to the cart. "Thank you, I thought I'd lost my little one, how can I repay you?" For a second Midnight looked back at her cart full of flowers but looked back at the mare and shook her head, not really needing anything at the moment. The mother looked a little confused but happily walked past Midnight to the cart and selected a few of the flowers, reading the tag underneath the pot. Paying a little more than was necessary but Midnight couldn't refuse. She waved off the two ponies glad that the little one was found and not crying anymore.
