He is very protective of her and does his best to keep a close eye on her at all times. he has felt betrayed ever since Blue Aster decided to leave the village and move to Ponyville. On another note, he is a slight pacifist, though he isn't above starting a fight if the safety or well being of an innocent pony is on the line.
Likes: He enjoys the peace and quiet of the winter landscape around the village, he takes pride in working the larger fields for the snowfruit crops. He feels calm when he knows that Blue Aster is safe under his supervision, however, if he cannot watch her, he begins to feel irritable and anxious for her safety.
Dislikes: He doesn't like when it gets too hot outside, the heat bothers him and keeps him from focusing. If his sister is beyond his reach, he tends to assume the worst and begins to panic, not much can calm him down aside from him seeing his sister return safely into his sight.
History: Born in the same northern settlement as Blue Aster, Hawthorne grew up as the talk of the town. He was born in a time when most of the families were having fillies rather than colts. He was sheltered greatly by everypony in the village, for a long time, he was kept away from the mares his age because the village elders didn't want him falling in love until a suitable spouse could be chosen for him. Several years later, Blue Aster was born. Sadly, the mother died in childbirth and the father was killed by another villager out of anger for not producing another colt. At this point, Hawthorne considered running away with his baby sister, but decided against it as they wouldn't survive out in the wilderness. They were raised by their aging uncle until they were of age.. That's when Aster left to live in Ponyville. Hawthorne tried to convince her to stay, but to no avail, instead he insisted on going with her. But Aster was tired of being hounded by him and angrily refused, storming off with her belongings.
Three years later, Hawthorne was arranged to be married to a promising mare his age. He despised the idea of being forced to love a pony he hardly knew, so on the eve of the wedding, he ran away from the village, leaving the bride at the altar and trying to find somewhere else to start anew.
It was at this point when his cutie mark appeared: A massive tree resembling his adamance and refusal to sway to the whims of others, he is his own stallion.
Example RP segment: (Tavern Scenario)
Hawthorne trotted into a rustic little town in a lush forested valley, his eyes drawn to the warm glow of candlelight from a bustling tavern in the center of town. He heavily plodded towards the establishment, seeing the wooden sign hanging from a post outside: Greystone Tavern and Inn.
"How quaint.." The massive stallion said softly as he pushed through the gates to the main room, sitting down by the bar and ordering a warmed cider. While he waited for his drink to be prepared, his eyes traveled the room, spotting ponies of all shapes and sizes drinking and taking part in general merriment with their friends. The bartender set down the drink and mentioned there was a set of rooms of less wholesome activities, but Hawthrone didn't inquire more into that prospect. He carefully took his drink and tasted the decadent spiced apple flavor, before taking larger gulps of the golden ichor. His eyes drifted to a lone mare sitting by a window, staring out into the world, he made his way over to give this pony some company, but was blocked by a lanky stallion who glared at him viciously. "You best stay away from her." The stallion snapped. "She's the boss' mare, if he catches you even speaking with her, you'll be dead meat."
"I'll take my chances." Hawthorne said, sitting across from the mare.
"Hello there, miss... Are you ok..?" He asked.
"I'm fine." The mare said. "But you shouldn't be talking to me, I'm taken."
"Taken.. As if you were an object, a trophy?" Hawthorne said, his calm demeanor changing to a slight scowl.
"How crude.""Oi! What're you doin' with my mare?!" A gruff voice snapped from the end of the table, where a dark gray stallion stood, glaring at Hawthorne. "You best be going, if ya know what's good fer you!"
Hawthorne stood up slowly, towering a head over the stallion, staring down at him calmly.
"Ok." He said simply, walking forward, stopping a few hoof-lengths away.
"Hey! What're you standing around fer?! Get lost!" The dark stallion yelled.
"You have some nerve, treating a mare like that." Hawthorne said, looking back slightly and kicking out his hind legs, launching the offending stallion through the large window behind the table. Hawthorne then turned to the other stallions.
"I'm done here." He said before casually trotting out of the tavern with a neutral expression.
