Dark Clouds Overhead (Fallout Equestria RP) (1x1)

Tinkerswift lay on the rigid bed in her living quarters, down on the lower level of Stable 193. The unicorn mare groaned softly as she rolled out of bed and shook the dust from her mane, she walked into the restroom beside her quarters and levitated a slightly bent toothbrush towards her. "Ugh... Still no toothpaste.." She mumbled as she set the toothbrush back down beside the steel sink.

Just then, she heard the distinct ringing of her personal intercom, she trotted over to the wall-mounted speaker and pressed a switch on the side. "Tinkerswift!" A gruff voice snapped. "Get down to the reactor level and start the water pumps!" Cogwheel, The aging head engineer yelled.

"Can't you do it yourself, you old geezer?" Tinkerswift replied snidely.

"Not unless you wanna keep your job, missy!" Cogwheel retorted, before hanging up.

Tinkerswift rolled her eyes and put on her utility uniform before heading down to the reactor level, playing some music from her Pip-Buck's radio function. "Same old music.. Every day." She mumbled as she disappeared down the corridor to the water pump rooms.

Vengeance walked through the reactor level, when he spotted Tinkerswift
"Mornin', here are the water pumps right?"

Tinkerswift looked at the new pony. "No, this is the main reactor, the water pumps are over there." She said to the stallion and trotting over to show him the large valves on the pumps.

"Alright, thanks. Im the new engineer" he said

"Well, I won't say I'm a veteran, but I bet Cogwheel is gonna assign me as your mentor." Tinkerswift said as she trotted over to the main reactor room as she caught a strange odor. "Huh... That's strange.."

"Is something wrong?" he asked, stepping behind her

"Do you smell that?" Tinkerswift asked, sniffing around the thick steel door that leads to the main reactor. "Smells like a gas leak..."

He frightened a bit "I know that smell" he said, walking to the door
"This... is not good"

"We should keep back, I'll try and shut down the gas lines." Tinkerswift said as she ran towards the red valve and began turning it with her magic, grunting as she exerted her magical force.

"Need help with that?" he said as he tried moving the valve with his hooves

Tinkerswift nodded and stepped aside, listening as the gas lines rumbled and shut down, halting the pumping of gas throughout the Stable. "Ok... We gotta seal the reactor level and warn the overmare." She added as she heard a loud hissing noise from behind the steel door.

"Alright... what in the world was that?" he said, turning to the door

"We need to get as far away as possible." Tinkerswift said suddenly as she darted away up the stairs to the main level.

Vengeance ran after her as quick as possible

Tinkerswift reached the atrium of the Stable where the Overmare was addressing a group of gathered ponies on the food shortage issues. She looked around frantically, spotting a security guard. She rushed over to the unicorn. "Excuse me.." She breathed heavily. "There's been a gas leak in the reactor level... It's unsafe to-!" She was cut off by a distant boom as the florescent lights overhead flickered and swayed on their cables. "Too late..." She winced as fire alarms began blaring.

"I know its dangerous, but we have to get outta here!" he said

Tinkerswift looked back at Vengeance as the security guard rushed off to help the panicking ponies. "This way!" She said to Vengeance as she ran towards the entrance tier of the Stable.

Vengeance nodded and ran after her

Tinkerswift made it to the upper atrium by the colossal steel door that sealed the stable from the outside. "Ok ok.... Think Swiftie.... Where's that damn control panel...?" She hissed to herself, looking around the room frantically.

"Its over here!" Vengeance called

Tinkerswift nodded and approached the panel, using her magic to try and pull the lever, but a red message flashed on the small screen, demanding a password. "Darn! I forgot about the password.... Uh.... The password is.... Overmare?" She said questioningly.

"Denied." A mechanical voice from the control panel said.

"Friendship?"

"Denied."

"Alicorn?"

"Approved, Beginning unsealing protocol." The mechanical voice blared as a large device swung down from the ceiling and latched onto the sealed door, slowly pulling it open with the screech of metal scraping against metal.

"I didn't expect that to work!" Tinkerswift said, looking back as she saw a fast moving wall of flames barreling down the hall. "Whatever! Let's book it or we're toast!"

"Alright!" he said

Tinkerswift ran out of the huge door as it opened, running as far as she could alongside Vengeance before a massive explosion knocked her off her hooves and sent her colliding with the remains of a concrete wall.

"Ow... I thought of different things when I joined" he said, getting up and shaking the dust off his uniform

Tinkerswift slowly got up, rubbing her head and looking around, her breath caught in her throat as she saw the desolate wasteland stretching for miles around them, the sky covered with black clouds and a sickly green haze. "This... This is all wrong... The Overmare said the surface was a paradise waiting for us!"
