Is this the end?

Switchblade walks through the everfree, he tracks his movements carefully, needing to remember the route he took, eventually he arrives at his usual clearing, darkness all around him he sighs, taking off his helmet, setting it down as he unbuckles his armour, it falling next to him as he looks at his blade, plunging it into a tree so the hilt stuck out of a knot in the wood, hidden. "I've lost enough to this role." he sighs, leaning his armour against the tree as he turns, sitting in the clearing.

A young pale blue coated stallion walked into the clearing, his snow white hair blowing in the night breeze. He was clad in ornate steel armour with gold and silver inlay, and a sword of bright crystal was strapped to his side. He slowly walked over to Switch, taking a seat by him and admiring the night sky silently. He knew how this troubled stallion must feel, as he'd felt much the same once.

Switchblade sits there, not seeming to notice the other stallion, as he sits there, not really seeming to do anything, his armour and sword light up in quick flashes, some longer than others in a truly random order as they flash with bursts of light, Switch in a deep state of thought that would require physical interaction to break.

Just gently nudged Switch, ready to talk. Something grasping your thoughts, Master Switch?" Just looked over at him curiously.

"Hardly. Just thinking back through it all. In my career I never let myself get attached; things were easy to continue, I defeated cults, stopped conspiracies and saved cities from darkness countless times. Yet the moment I became attached I ended up with a job, a family of sorts, and then that got me found it seems. It's been close to a year now, no sign of my daughter or my lover. The dark stallion who escaped me with his acolyte has gone back into hiding and that is over. It is all over, and since the darkness has faded, so shall the legends of the fallen soldier. Switchblade will return to his home and continue his life anew. It is the end of a chapter, and as is appropriate, the legacy shall be hidden from public eyes." he sighs

"It does not have to end this way, Swichblade. And the darkness never truly fades, it just waits til stallions like you and I are too old and weak to fight to return. If you wish, I will help you find this stallion. He will not escape both of us." He scanned Switch's face for a reaction.

Switch chuckles calmly "There's no need. I already foiled him. His acolyte doubts him, and she refused to use her power to harm an innocent; she knows who he is now, and he has no power without her, right now he should be nothing but a memory faded by time. I beat him, using the simplest of techniques, making someone see how to fight their own fight. It is what I have spent my life doing; they all fight for themselves; my legacy is invisible, yet all around us." he smiles

"If you're sure." Just slowly got to his feet "Just remember, memories always comeback to haunt you. Nothing ever truly ends Switch, not really." As he began to leave the clearing he call back one last time "And you should know better! As long as there are people who can't fight for themselves, a soldier's job isn't over!"

Switch sighs "Besides, I'm getting too predictable for this game, these new heroes emerging have advanced abilities and powers that I can not match without my team. There is no point in endangering lives by shooting above what I can do. If I am ever needed for whatever weird reason I will return. But for now, I think it best if both my lives relocate a lot further away so nobody is put in danger by having ties to me. If a pony by the name of DJay comes into Ponyville looking for me, send her to this area. She'll know what to do after that, she's a smart mare." He straightens up "Feel free to take the sword if you want, probably won't work efficiently for you since my magic is all but unique, but it's still a symbol of fear in a lot of small criminals' hearts. And most military types will know who it belonged to. Probably not for the best, but hey. So, see you around I guess." he heads to the other side of the clearing, moving away from Ponyville "And I've never been a soldier."

Just shook his head and sighed as he grabbed the sword and headed back to Ponyville. "Looks like I'm the last of the old guard...I will make ready for the next generation." As he neared the edge of the everfree, he looked up at the sky. Nothing ever ends..."

Switch wanders through the forest, he smiles as he picks up a folded piece of paper at the base of a tree, he nods with a smile. He was down, but not out yet, just a case of stepping back and assessing the situation free of distractions, and move to a different job, one he always felt was for him, he grins "Time for teaching." he says calmly to himself, happy to do something good without all the violence, these new heroes had him beat so he knew that the villains would step up too, after all, he couldn't be that powerful or fear inducing in them, right?
