Trouble

Seledora tried to scamper up and run but managed to land on her face again. She instantly regretted wearing the stupid cloak. The two ponies looked down at her.
She stood up, shaking, and looking pointedly at the ground addressed them "I'm okay. I was just... just...." she trailed off. She thought telling them she was just coming out to talk to the plants would sound insane. " ...I was just, gathering seeds?" she finished, rather lamely.

The look of skepticism from both ponies made her sigh. She dropped her hood and let her messy mane fall out. "I was talking to the trees. Most ponies think I'm crazy for it, so I don't let anyone know." she said.

Flitter Gray had never met a pony like this one. And the talking to the trees thing sounded interesting. He looked the young mare over. The messy mane and tail were a huge contrast to her painted coat.
"Uh. Well, that's........interestin?" said Flitter Gray, looking at Lucky with a perplexed look on his face.

Talking to trees? It was strange, but knowing unicorns and their hocus pocus magic tricks, it may not be as strange as he thought. "I guess that makes sense? I mean, if you think about it unicorns are... really... magic-y... you know?" He drove his hoof to his face for coming up with such a weak word. "And besides, being weird sure adds color to everypony's boring life."

Seledora thought for a second. What would mama say? what would she tell me to do?
"Um. Its cold out tonight, isn't it?" she said.
She knew it was a lame grab, but she needed something to say. These were some of the first ponies she'd met. The first she'd met while alone. She was incredibly nervous and had no idea what else to say.

"Well, you are a filly and it is very late. Do you know how to get home?" asked Flitter Gray.
The night was getting strangely cold. It wasn't even close to fall yet. He looked up and around. Nothing was moving. Was this normal, or was he just thinking too much?

"It's not that particularly cold out, a bit warm. I dunno, maybe it's just cause I'm more accustomed to cold weather. Oh how I missed the crisp air at night. So miss, do you have a name?" He distracted himself with a question, before he decides to go back home from nostalgia.

"Oh. um.... I'm Seledora. I've only lived here for about two years. I... I don't leave the house much." she whispered toward the regal looking Earth Pony.

She turned to the tall pegasus and said "My parents don't really give me a curfew. They know I won't get lost. Because of my power........" she trailed off, having obviously said more than she actually intended.

The mention of the fillies 'powers' intrigued Flitter Gray, though he didn't say anything. He looked at the filly a little harder in the gloom. What he had taken for stripes, he now saw were actually dyed in. The horn should have given away that she wasn't a Zebra, but he hadn't actually thought about it.

"Why wouldn't your folks give a youngun like you a curfew?" he asked.

The moon was rising now, making things a little easier to see.

"Selendora?" He repeated "That's a peculiar name. I like it. It's unique" Lucky looked at the moon for a moment and estimated that it was only a few hours until midnight. "Seems like it's a little late for someone your age to be walking around, curfew or no curfew. We'll take you back to your mom. She must be worried right now. Sound good to you, Selendora?"

"Well, she did say she don't have a curfew, but it is kind dangerous to wander around at night. If you got hurt no one would be awake to help you out." said Flitter Gray trying to appeal to both sides of the discussion.

Flitter Gray never knew with this kind of situation. He didn't want to be overbearing but he didn't want to be a complete idiot, which he managed to do on far to regular an occasion.

"Oh. Um. Well, I guess I was done out here tonight any how. I'd be glad to be taken home, but it looks to be out of your way." she replied, rubbing her hooves.

The night air was calm and she could feel the magic all around her but she didn't dare try to tap it with others around. She never knew what would happen and in rare cases, dreadful things have happened.

"Don't worry about it, we're glad to help. And Flitter is right, if we'd leave you out here, who knows what could happen. And I'm sure as hay I wont be able to put it behind me if something should happen to you. Oh, how rude of me, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name's Lucky Shot, and I'm the best shooter here in Ponyville, hahaha." Lucky offered his hand for a hoofshake.

"And I'm Flitter Gray. Some folks call me Gray, but what ever floats your boat. I'm not usually a pony of many words, but I try." he said bowing his head to the filly Unicorn.

Seledora shook Lucky's hoof and said "Hello." then she turned to Flitter Gray.
"You don't mind if I call you Gray?" she asked.

They began walking toward Seledora's house, near the edge of Ponyville.

"Sooooo. What were you two doing out here so late? Did something bad happen?" she tried to start another conversation.

Lucky nodded. "I was in the Everfree forest to collect herbs for a few friends of mine, then saw Flitter here in a trench. Helped him out of there then went back to Ponyville. In a nutshell, thats what happened."

Flitter Gray laughed.
"That sure is a simpler way of sayin' it. I was gonna say I'd been out gatherin' herbs when I had managed to nearly destroy my wing on the side of a canyon and would had died if not for Lucky shot here. I'm a lucky colt for that, thank Celestia."
