Lunch Chasing

Spring Shower flew alongside Thunderclap into the marketplace in Ponyville, "the Apple Family makes some of the best fritters," Spring told Thunder as she lead Thunder towards Applejack's stand.

"Two apple fritters please" Spring said as she put some bits into the tin and took the fritters that were given to her. She picked up each fritter with a hoof and offered one to Thunderclap.

"So what brings you to Ponyville?" she asked him.

Thunderclap smiled and thanked Spring for the food. "What brings me here? Well I'm a wanderer, and I just wandered here." He said. He then took a bite out of his apple fritter. It was incredibly delicious. He loved the food in this town. "Well, the ponies here in the town were so nice to me and so full of life, I can't bring myself to wander away. I got a good friend, and a good house. I can't just leave now." He said. "And what about you? What brought you to Ponyville?"He asked.

"Well I grew up in Cloudsdale but always loved the green earth and sunshine that came down to it," she explained, "don't get me wrong, I love Cloudsdale, its where I grew up and all-- but theres just something about being down here-- its totally different."

She took a bite of her fritter and rolled her eyes back and raised her head, "Mmm! Applejack makes the best fritters!" she said as she took another bite with a big smile on her face.

"I'm glad to hear you like Ponyville," she smiled at Thunderclap, "It's nice meeting new friends who are going to stay around for a while"

Thunderclap nodded in agreement. "Ya, these fritters are amazing." He said between mouthfuls. Soon he was out of fritter. He always was a fast eater. "Ya, I can see myself staying here for quite a while." He said. His neck was getting a little sore from looking down to talk to Spring Shower. "I mean, compared to my old hometown, I have better food, more time to spend with friends or in leisure, and more ponies to help." Thunderclap kicked his lips for any stray crumbs. "Oh ya, one thing you need to know about me is I love to help other ponies. It makes me feel good."

"Well helping other ponies is a great hobby to have!" Spring Shower said, "theres lots of helpful ponies around here, you'll never find yourself short of help," she said.

"Hey!" Spring said jumping infront of Thunder with a smile on her face, "Have you ever played Air Hockey?" she asked, "I know you're not from Cloudsdale-- but its a great game that pegasi play all the time!" she said standing infront of him.

Thunderclap shook his head. "Nope never played air hockey. There wasn't much time to play, and there were only 3 pegasi my age in my village, including me. But I would love to learn how to play!" He was kind of excited. Not only would he learn a new game, but a game that used flying. "Would you teach me?" He asked.

Spring grinned and patted Thunder on the shoulder, "I'll do you one better than teach you--" she winked, "tomorrow night the Cloudsdale Cumulus are taking on the Manehatten Maelstroms and I was planning on going..." she said, curious if Thunderclap would pick up on what she was getting at.

"If you'd like, you can go with me to the game and you can see a real game first hand," Spring said, anticipating Thunders response, "you know-- if you want to go to the game and alll..."

Thunderclap perked up. "Of course I would like to go! See what seems like a fun game, spend some time with a new friend." He placed his fore leg on Spring Shower's shoulder. "You know, I'm glad that jay was messing around with clouds. Otherwise, we may not have met." He winked at her and smiled. "Although I'm kinda afraid of what may happen to that poor jay. From what you said, that Fluttershy sounds absolutely terrifying. I'm glad I haven't seen her." He shuddered at the thought, imagining a pony even bigger than him with a mean nasty face, a dirty unkempt mane and tail, and missing teeth.

"Cool!" Spring Shower beamed, "meet me in town square tomorrow night at 5 tomorrow evening and we'll head up to Cloudsdale for the game!" she said happily.

Spring blinked in a bit of surprise, "Fluttershy..." she bit her lip as her face turned to that of amusement, "terrifying...?" she asked before breaking into a fit of laughter.

"Thunderclap..." Spring said, trying to calm her laughter before putting her hoof on Thunders shoulder to show him something. Fluttershy was speaking very softly as some ponies were cutting ahead of her in line to buy some pears, "See that terryfying yellow pegasus over there... thats Fluttershy..." Spring said before bursting into laughter again.

Thunderclap was shocked. "That's Fluttershy?!" He asked in disbelief. "I don't see how anypony would be afraid of her. Or any bird for that matter." He chuckled. "Well it seems like I was very mistaken." Thunderclap was slightly embarrassed. He decided to quickly change the subject.

"So, um we meet at 5 here? OK, I can manage that." He said. He looked around. "So, wanna go do something?" He asked.

Spring Shower continued to laugh, "Oh, trust me, the Bluejay had a reason to be concerned," she said as she began to walk through the marketplace again, encouraging Thunderclap to come with her.

"Cool, its a date!" she said with a smile, but the smile quickly disappeared, "I mean-- to hang out, not a date date just a hang out friends deal..." she said nervously backtracking.

Spring turned her face away with a bit of a blush on her face from her embarrassment, "So-- uh-- something to do-- any place in town you wanna go see?" she said, looking towards the ground.

Thunderclap laughed. He found it kind of cute how flustered the little pony got. He put one hoof on Spring Shower's shoulder. "Hey, don't worry. I know what you meant." He then lowered his head to be more on her level. "Don't worry, I'm not going to judge you."

Thunderclap then continued. "And as for places I wanna go, well like I said I'm brand new to this town. I've only been to a few places, Sugarcube Corner, the spa, and the tavern, so anywhere you wanna take me is cool. I really just want to see the whole town. You know, get some idea of what is here."

Spring Shower laughed again as Thunderclap said the various places he had been so far, "You? a big pony like yourself? went to the spa?" she said with a smirk on her face, "I'd never have pictured you as the spa type-- I've never even been to the spa before." she laughed.

"Tell ya what, Thunder, how about I just give you a tour of the town" Spring said as she took flight flying a few feet over Thunderclap.

Thunderclap got defensive. "I didn't want to go to the spa!" He exclaimed. "I was dragged there against my will. Iquite hate the idea of the spa, having total strangers feeling you up." Thunderclap shuddered at the thought. "Not my idea of rest and relaxation."

Thunderclap listened to Spring's proposal. "Well I don't mind being shown around town. That is, if it is all right with you. I'd hate to be distracting you from other plans or duties you may have." Thunderclap then flew as well, elevating a few feet higher than Spring Shower.

Spring Shower smiled and started flying around Thunder "Oooh I bet you loved getting a facial-- a massage-- a hooficure---" she giggled as she teased the bigger pony, "Did you put those little cucumbers on your eyes and everything?" she laughed.

"I dont mind at all-- its easy to do a fly over and point out the important stuff," Spring said to Thunder.

Thunderclap narrowed his eyes. "The only thing I really enjoyed was the hot tub
But if you have been wandering from town to town for a year you would take any opportunity to sit in hot water,be it a hot tub or a mountain spring. Relaxes the muscles." His eyes then widened. "Wait, those cucumbers were supposed to go on my eyes? I thought they were a snack."

He then smiled. "Well if you don't mind showing me around, I'll take you up on that offer." He flew straight up and did a barrel roll. "So, shall we head?" He asked.

"I've never even been in a hot tub before..." Spring Shower said, looking up some thinking about what the experience would be like, "So what mare dragged you off to the spa, anyway? did you happen to run across Rarity or something?" She said with a little laugh.

"I'm pretty sure the cucumbers go on the eyes," she laughed.

Thunderclap shook his head. "Wasn't a mare. It was my roommate Arpeggio. He thought I could use the treatment. I was in pretty rough shape after my wandering." He then flew a loop. "And I don't care if they were supposed to go on my eyes. Where I came from, wasting food on something silly like that was just terrible."

"And who is this Rarity? I've never met her. Not surprising, I haven't lived here long."
