Tea and thoughts

Arpeggio entered the store, looking around; his face was still etched with nervous and worried thought. He walked up to make an order, but wasn't quite sure what to get.

Floralbloom was sitting in the store, her face slightly dirty from the garden work she'd done this morning. Carefully sipping a herbal blend of some sort, she spied Arpeggio from the corner of her eye, and noticed his expression. "Hey, are you okay?" She called over to the pegasus.

He turned towards the unicorn after ordering a calming blend of tea. "Ehh... if I said 'yes', I'd be lying..."

Floralbloom nodded, setting down her cup. "I hate to pry but, perhaps I can help you? You can trust me I promise," She tilted her head in concern.

He smiled slightly. "Thank you..." He took a drink of his tea when it arrived. "...Well... I'm in a position where... I'm feeling something more than just friendship for a good friend of mine... but I'm worried that if I reveal that, that it'll kill our friendship..."

Floral nodded slowly as he spoke, "Well, that is a bit of a predicament!" She thought for a moment. "Have you noticed any signs that they might feel the same too? After all if you two are such good friends perhaps you both have feelings," She reasoned.

"...That's something else I need to say to them..." He sighed. "I'm just afraid that what happened so many times when I was younger will happen again..."

He took another sip of his tea. "I don't know... if he is aware of how I feel, he hasn't shown it..."

"Oh you poor dear!" She exclaimed sympathetically, "Love is such a testing emotion," Floral shook her head, using her magic to stirr the contents of her cup with a spoon.

"Perhaps you should make him aware then, it won't do you any good to keep these feelings bottled up, after all. Maybe you should explain it gradually, or make subtle signs he might pick up on." The unicorn suggested.

"He's in Cloudsdale right now with a friend... they're watching an Air Hockey game." He sighed. "...I'm planning to come out to him that I'm a fencebucker when he returns..."

"Hey, don't look so sad! You never know what will happen, fate has a funny way of dealing with things. He won't mind, I'm sure, if you're such great friends, and if he doesn't like who you are then he isn't worth your time quite frankly." She nodded to her own words.

He smiled a little more. "Thanks for your encouraging words... I needed that." He took another drink of his tea. "I'm Arpeggio, by the way."

"I can't bear to see somepony upset," She said adding sugar lumps to her drink. "Floralbloom, or just Floral for short. Nice to meet you Arpeggio." She smiled.

"You're very kind. It's nice to meet you too, Floral. Thanks for the advice; I'll come out to him first... then see what happens from there..." He smiled back.

"It's no problem at all, if anything else happens you should come talk to me about it. My ear is always open to somepony in need." Floralbloom said sipping the last of her drink. "So what is your special somepony like?"

*He blushed a little* "Well... he's my roommate right now; I met him on his first day in town. His name's Thunderclap; he's a royal-blue Pegasus, big like me, with a bright yellow mane and tail..."

"We haven't been roommates for very long... but we're really close friends. He's... really handsome; he didn't have a very easy foalhood, working hard pretty much all his life... and it shows; he's..." *He blushed a little more* "Really well-built..."

"He's also one of the kindest stallions I've ever met. He does whatever he can to help others that need it..."

"I'm actually a little surprised you haven't commented on my being a fencebucker... most ponies do if I tell them."

"Hehe, I can see why you're quite smitten for him then," She giggled. "So it seems he's got looks and personality all in one pegasus package, you sure hooked a good one."

Floralbloom tilted her head, "Why would I comment on it, you're a pony just like everyone else. Doesn't matter to me which side of the fence you prefer." She bobbed her head.

He blushed a bit. "Thanks... I really like him. And I'm really glad you think that way; I wish more ponies were as openminded as you... Cloudsdale is kinda split on that... some families there are really conservative about that while others are more openminded... I wish more were the latter."

He finished the last drink of his tea, going over and giving Floral a hug. "Thanks again, Floral. I'll be sure to tell you how it went, okay?" He paid for his tea and trotted out, heading home.

Floralbloom returned again in the evening after another heavy load of gardening, finding the place very relaxing. She ordered her normal herbal tea and sat down, lost in her own thoughts as usual.

Arpeggio re-entered the store, seeing Floral there, he turns, talking to his friend and goes, sitting down next to her and ordering a lighter, fruity tea.

"Hey..."

Floralbloom was snapped out of her thoughts, "Oh, hello Arpeggio." She greeted the pegasus. "Any luck?"

"Ehh... kinda." "He didn't shoot me down, at least... though it did get rather emotional... why don't you just ask him?"

Thunderclap walked into the Tea shop. He wasmn't feeling thirsty, so he decided not to order anything. He watched Arpeggio sit beside another pony. "Hey this one of your friends?" He asked. "Hi, I'm Thunderclap!"

"Wait, luck?" He turned to Arpeggio, "You went around telling other ponies about that?"

Floralbloom noticed who Thunderclap was once he walked into the shop, the royal blue gave it away. "Hello Thunderclap, I'm Floralbloom, or just Floral for short." She greeted the pegasus with a dip of her head.
"Oh no, I'm the only pony he told, or atleast I pryed it out of him since he looked kind of down." Floral explained.

"Yeah... she's the only one who I've told. I came here while you were at the Air Hockey game; she talked to me... wasn't for her, I would never have worked up the courage to confess to you." *he took a sip of his tea*

Thunderclap grinned. "So you're that easy to get information out of, eh? So I can get you to tell me all of your deep, dark, secrets?" He then laughed. "I kid, of course. Well I thank you, Floral, for helping out my friend. That was a really kind thing you did.
