Improved chat box?

As our chat box stands, its integrated, and works with the memberlist of forum members already registered with color codes and all. Everything is all set up, including moderators and some basic commands like clearing chat. The very existence of it has ensured this forum grew and became what it is now.

Things that would be nice to have are maybe being able to create private chat windows in it, have sound notifications, and not time out every 15 frigging minutes.

Setting up a new better one would be nice, but it takes time and energy, not to mention it would no longer be in sync with our member base. But it would allow rooms to be made for other groups of members to have their own chat rooms, roleplay or not.

What do you guys think? Do we need it? Or is it good as is?

Some choices might be to try IRC chat. Please give suggestions to what chatboxes you think would help.

I wouldn't mind an IRC-type chat; at least for a trial, anyway. I agree that a new chat box would be ideal.

Chatango does all of that if we need it. Only problem is making another account to log in with it.
