First day

Darkstorm sat on his couch, in his new humble home. He sat their and admired this new place to live. He looked around and felt good about his surroundings. It had been such a long journey from Cloudsdale, but he knew it was worth it. Here in Ponyville he could relax and hang out with new ponies. Speaking of which... he thought, he wondered who his neighbors were. Were they nice? Out-going? Friendly? He certainly hoped so.

It made Fireseeker slightly uncomfortable going around the houses, knocking on everypony's front door when he hardly knew any of them and ask for ink. However, he hadn't planned on going to the market today but he needed to finish and post his article today.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, he thought to himself as he trotted up to the front door of a house. Hopefully someone would be home, unlike the first two houses.

He raised his hoof and knocked on the door three times.

Darkstorm heard some knocking. Three knocks to be specific. What perfect timing! he thought as he suspected a neighbor welcoming themselves. He went to the door and opened it with some enthusiasm to find a pony that looked desperate.

"Hi there." Darkstorm said, smiling at the new face. "You live around here?" he asked. Trying to get to know this pony.

"Hi. Yeah, I live nearby actually," Fireseeker replied, smiling back at the pony.

Like himself, he was a pegasus, with a jet black coat. His mane was different shades of blue and his eyes a bright orangey red.

He introduced himself, holding out a hoof to shake. "I'm Fireseeker."

"Darkstorm." He introduced himself, returning the favor and sticking out his hoof and accepting Fireseeker's welcome.

He looked at Fireseeker, and asked, "So why did you stop by?"

He wondered if Fireseeker was looking for something, or if he was just introducing himself.

"Yeah, I am actually," he said, rubbing a hoof over the back of neck in an embarrassed manner. "I hate to be so forward about it, but you wouldn't happen to have any ink I can borrow would you?"

Fireseeker decided to explain himself to make him seem less insane than this situation probably made him look. "You see, I'm writing an article for work that I need to post by today and I ran out of ink..."

"Umm, I don't believe I have any ink with me. Sorry, I just moved in." Darkstorm said, and it was true. He just moved in and had no ink whatsoever. And he didn't even know where to get ink in this town... He needed to be shown around town... Or explore...

Fireseeker nodded understandingly.

"Ah, ok. Don't worry about it."

His eyes noticed Darkstorm's fiery cutie mark and he smirked, turning slightly so his own a mark was more visible.

"I see we both have something in common then. What's yours for?"

He laughed."I like to race. I don't have a huge long history. I got my cutie mark early, when I won my first major competition." He finished. "I've won a few, I don't normally like to brag though."

"What about you?" he asked, noticing Fireseeker's cutie mark for the first time.

"Wow, pretty cool," admired Fireseeker, letting out an impressed whistle. "More exciting than my story."

He looked at his cutie mark of a quill leaving a trail of fire.

"I wrote about an...experience I had when I was young, and earned it. I'm sure it represents the inspiration and passion of what I write. Went travelling across Equestria, experiencing life and writing about it."

"I think that's cool! I always thought my story was boring as well!" Darkstorm said, smiling. Fireseeker seemed like a cool pony to hang out with.

"Oops. How rude of me. Would you like to come in?" Darkstorm said, just now realizing that they were still talking at his door.

Regretfully, Fireseeker shook his head.

"I would love to but I really have to get some ink and get this article written. Don't want to be tardy with my work."

He caught a glimpse of the Ponyville clock tower and winced.

"Speaking of which, I better hurry," Fireseeker said, smiling. "It was nice meeting you Darkstorm. Maybe I'll see you around town..."
