Boring day in Cloudsdale

Blue Jay steadily trotted through Cloudsdale. She had recently finished moving clouds around the sky over Ponyville, and wasn't sure what to do. Going home had little appeal, there was nothing to do there but sleep and eat. She considered going to the library and getting a new book, but she was looking for something a little more... exciting. Jay passed by the buildings of Cloudsdale and hoped she would come across something to do. She sat on a nearby bench and pondered on what she would do next.

The day was beautiful to say the least. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky, save for the city made of clouds, which also made clouds. (Cloudception?) The air was breezy and just the right amount of cool. Everything was quite peaceful... until two pegasi came thundering down from the horizon. "I'm gonna get there first!" The first one shouted to his partner.

"Not if I can help it!" The pegasus beside the first one shouted back. As they were bearing down on the city of clouds, a sudden gust of wind had caused turbulence for the second pegasus and ended up crashing into his partner, and then both of them lost all form of control and spiraled towards the street. BAM! The two tumbled along for quite a fair distance, stopping a few steps away from a lone pegasus mare.

"I won! You owe me your next cider, Midnight!" The one with the protective glasses said, being the first one up.

"What do you mean!? I clearly hit the ground a full hoof before you did! Dare, you're the one who owes me a cider!" The dark blue pegasi with sunglasses retorted.

"How about another race then? Double or nothing?"

Meet Dare Devil, and Midnight Spirit.

Blue Jay nearly fell over when two pegasi thundered past her. They stopped a few feet from the cloud bench she was sitting on. They were definitely taller then her and were both stallions. The event had left her out of breath and confused about what just happened before her. They were within earshot, and seemed to be discussing who won the race. She regained her balance and cautiously came up to the two pegasi.
"Excuse me.." she nervously began, "my name's Blue Jay. I was wondering if you two knew of anything a bored pegasus like me could do?" She gave a nervous smile and hoped they could think of something.

Dare Devil was still arguing with Midnight about the race when a mare trotted up to them and asked if they had any ideas what a bored pegasi could do. The two looked at each other, then to the mare, then back again. No words were said, only nods and a few discreet body signals.

When they decided to speak, there wasn't any hesitation, or doubt in their voices. "How about a race?" Dare began, followed by Midnight. "Yeah! Nothing like a good race to drop the boredom. My name is Midnight Spirit, and this queer one here is Dare Devil." He pointed to the white pegasus.

"Wait, I'm the queer one? Ha!, in my opinion, the gentlecolt with the tinted glasses looks much more queer to me." Dare Devil plopped his pair of protective glasses on his head, expecting a half-witted comeback. "So, about that race. You up for it?"

Blue Jay froze. She hadn't expected a race.
Panicked, she replied, "Sure!" and quickly regretted it. Flustered, she quickly added, "Uh I mean... But... Er, where's the finish line?"
Red with embarrassment, she pondered for an excuse for her embarrassment. In fact, she even knew how to kill her boredom.
Relax Jay, she thought to herself, after this is all over, you'll take a nice, long trip to the spa in Ponyville.

Blue Jay flew side-by-side with the one called Dare Devil. The dark blue one was in the lead.
"No, to be quite honest with you. I just didn't want to be rude and say no, but it's nice to meet you," she smiled back. "So, what part of Cloudsdale do you live in?" From what Jay could see, the factory was getting closer, and Midnight Spirit was gradually slowing down. She quickened her pace, but stayed by Dare Devil. The wind was blowing toward the factory, which sped them all up.
