A box in the middle of the street

Honey Sprinkles was laying inside the box, saddened, and still crying. She shivered, and quietly peeked over the edge, looking for someone to follow. She sighed, and laid down again, placing her snout on her hooves. "Aww, now 'ah won'd fahnd sahmone to play with" (Aww, now I won't find someone to play with) she mumbled, blabbering inside tears and sobs. Her eyes slowly directed around Ponyville, and smiled at it's bright colors. She smiled a bit, and cleaned her cheeks. "Waahh, id'z so colorful" (Whoah, it's so colorful) she laughed.

Gust exited the entertainment store, carrying with him a brand new computer, this one apparently one of the newest pieces of technology on the market, called a 'labtop'. He thought it looked pretty nice, so the Unicorn had decided to buy it in order to see if he could use it to upgrade his current DJ setup. Definitely more mobile, if nothing else.

As the stallion walked back towards his home, he saw a box near the fountain at Ponyville's town square, and as he came closer he could see that a filly was inside it, apparently going through emotions quickly and talking to herself. Well that's not really normal... Gust approached the small pony, speaking as he drew near.

"Hey, do you need some help?"

As soon as Honey Sprinkles heard a voice, her reddish eyes swiftly went to the voice. A pony, with a horn, carrying a flat, strange thing. Her eyes adored the magical aura surrounding both the pony's horn and the flat thing. Her grin grew, and quickly stood up, showing her head from the box. "Haayy! I am Honey Sprinkles" she said. Her cheeks squeezed in a soft pink. She hadn't seen any ponies in quite a while, after that other pony left her. Maybe she was just a bit lost in thoughts anyway?

"Haayy! I am Honey Sprinkles."

Gust grinned when the filly introduced herself. Cute. "Nice to meet you, Honey! I'm Gust, Thunder Gust." He looks around for a moment. "Hey, your parents anywhere nearby?"

She grinned. "Haaii Gu-st.. Guu-st... Gust, Gust! Yay!" she cheered, then giggled a bit, snorting, before she heard him question about her parents. She blinked, her smile slowly vanishing. "My mom said she had to go to the Everfree Forest to deal with some animals, but she never returned. I guess she is still talking to them. I'm waiting in this box so surprise her when she returns!" she said, her voice sounding quite cheerful, still, with a hint of worry. Her eyes blinked, reflecting hope and loyalty.

The Everfree? Oh no... Why this? Gust felt the need to tell this filly that her mom might not be returning to her, but he simply didn't have the heart to do that. His grin wavered slightly, but he made sure not to seem distressed to the filly.

"Alright, awesome! But are you really gonna wait in that box for her?"

The filly blinked, and just peeked a smile. Her stomach rumbled just as she wanted to say something, and flickered her ears. She poked her stomach, and tilted her head. "Maybe, but I don't know if my stomach agrees to that" she said. She stood up from the little box, and pulled out a little teddy bear toy from it. She placed it on her back, and smiled. "I guess my mommy can wait?" she stated, her pupils growing.

The filly's stomach rumbled as she began to speak. "Maybe, but I don't know if my stomach agrees to that."

"Seems like that."

The filly pulled a teddy bear out of the box and then hopped out of it, placing the toy on her back. She seemed so nice and innocent, and she would have to deal with this... Poor kid...

"I guess my mommy can wait?"

Gust nodded. "I'm sure she can. It's not like you're gonna be gone forever, after all. You want me to get you some food?"

Streamlined Imagination was not in a good mood, to say the least. Once again, one of his inventions had failed to work right as he needed to demonstrate it, resulting in him not making a single sale. "Stupid piece of junk..." He grumbled, looking at the strange timepiece he wore on a chain around his neck. He levitated it up using his magic to see, or rather scowl at it. As he was walking along, his temper snapped and he pulled it off his neck and threw it at the ground, smashing it and sending little bits of clockwork everywhere. "Stupid... Piece... Of... Junk!" He shouted, jumping up and down on the clockworks. Once his anger subsided, he was quickly overwashedwith sadness, and collapsed onto the street, sobbing from behind his sunglasses, his white coat sticking out from the road.

"I'm sure she can. It's not like you're gonna be gone forever, after all. You want me to get you some food?"

Honey Sprinkles, when hearing 'food', she squeezed her cheeks. "Yeeessss, honey twufflez!! Honey twufflez!" she mumbled, jumping side to side. Her ears flickered, as she heard a faint yelling sound from quite a distance, and turned over. She saw a large pony with a horn, sobbing into the street. She frowned, and trotted over. "Hay! Don't ye say bad words like that!" she yelled, her face looking quite adorable while angry. "Your mommy would be angry if she heard that!" she stated, sitting on her flank, and picking her teddy bear.

"Yeeessss, honey twufflez!! Honey twufflez!"

Honey twufflez? Oh, honey truffles. The filly started jumping from side to side in her excitement, and Gust couldn't help but grin even more at the sight. He heard a nearby crash, and then the sound of a pony yelling at someone or something. The Unicorn turned to face the sound, and saw a Unicorn collapse onto the street, starting to sob. Small metal pieces of clockwork could be seen littering the street near him. Honey trotted over to the pony, and Gust followed her at a slow walk, somewhat curious as to what might have happened, seeing as the pony didn't seem like the type to cry over a broken piece of equipment.

"Hay! Don't ye say bad words like that! Your mommy would be angry if she heard that!"

Gust was slightly worried about the broken pony and how he might respond to Honey, but he doubted that anything bad would happen. Regardless, the Stallion spoke to the Unicorn. "Hey bro, you alright?"

Streamlined looked up for a moment, seeing that the 'scolding' for the shouting came from an innocent little filly. Instead of getting up and screaming at the filly like some did, he simply ignored her; she'd loose interest in him soon anyway. Everyone did. He was partially surprised when someone asked him if he was ok. Figuring he should be polite to the people who had noticed him, he shook his head, but didnt look up.
"M-my invention... *sniff* ... Wouldn't sell, it didnt work... *sob* I'm gonna run out of money again soon... *whimper* ... And it's not even my money!" After the last word, he broke into a fit of sobbing again. He couldn't earn his own living, because his inventions would constantly fail at the critical moment, if they even got that far. He'd been borrowing money off a friend of his, but by this point he knew he wouldn't be able to pay him back. Streamlined, in his own mind was simply a failure. Nothing more.

Honey Sprinkles was still a bit concerned about this pony's reaction. She stared at his 'junk' on the ground, and trotted closer. She poked one of those things, and blinked, then looked back at the pony. "Practice makes the master" she mumbled, sitting down.

Her eyes blinked again, endlessly staring at the stranger, offering a friendly smile.

"M-my invention... *sniff* ... Wouldn't sell, it didn't work... *sob* I'm gonna run out of money again soon... *whimper* ... And it's not even my money!"

Honey poked one of the pieces of the pony's invention and mumbled something before sitting down and giving the hopeless stallion a friendly smile. Gust responded differently. An expression that most closely resembled anger appeared on Unicorn's face, and he spoke to the other pony in a tone that matched it.

"Oh no you don't! How dare you give up on all your dreams and hard work! All that time that you put into making that invention will be completely wasted! Do you have any idea how many ponies have done amazing things or become known throughout history after they failed miserably day after day!?"

"What practice! I've had the same results for the past six years! Failure! Caught fire! Even the occasional explosion! I cant work upon what no-longer exists!" he said, throwing his hooves into the air. "I'm a failure! I've even copied out of books to-the-letter, and gotten the same failed results. I'm probably cursed. What's the point in dreams if you can never achieve them for one reason or another..." he put his hooves back onto his face, and resumed his sobbing. It was fairly obvious already, however, that he was starting to ease up.

Apple Orcherd trotted up behind the pony overhearing all of what he had said.

"Why don't you get a helper sir? I mean that would make it easier for you and your inventions."

She smiled she probably startled all of them. Apple trotted up to the box seeing the little filly and looks at the stallion

"Who's this cute filly?"

She gave the filly a toy pony, surely there was a reason she as in a box. She also thought it was cute that the filly looked a little bit like Apple Orcherd.

Honey Sprinkles eyed over to a new pony with feathered wings. She squeezed a grin, and grabbed the toy. "Hey there! I'm Honey Sprinkles!" She said, hopping side to side, looking at the new pony with a wonderful grin.

Gust was about to say something else to the pony, but before he did he noticed a different mare approach them: a young Pegasus mare, probably only a few years younger than him from the looks of it. A moment of observing her and he noticed something. Wait, haven't I seen her before? Huh...

"Why don't you get a helper, sir? I mean, that would make it easier for you and your inventions." The young mare trotted over to Honey Sprinkles, giving her a toy pony after a second of observation. "Who's this cute filly?"

"Hey there! I'm Honey Sprinkles!"

Gust turned his attention back to the stallion on the ground in front of him. "Yeah, and how do you know you're failing? Maybe you should try something with fire and explosions, then. I don't believe anyone ever fails, they just try to get different results from what their getting. And that belief hasn't been proven wrong yet, so you shouldn't be no different."
