First Timer In Canterlot!

Silent lazily trotted down the main street of Canterlot With his eyes blazing with something although he couldn't tell what it was. He looked around taking in all the sights and smells of the big time city, he was told this is where you get when you reach the top. He took a deep breath and slowly let it out. So much to do and see but he didn't know where to start.

Oh wow, Canterlot is so big I might get lost! He thought while chuckling.

It's been a very boring day for Blind Side. She had some time off from guard duty, so she had no idea what to do with herself. Normally, she'd be trotting around in her vest and goggles, but today felt like the kind of day to go without. the up-side was that other ponies could easily tell she was blind. Her cloudy grey eyes made sure of that.

As she trotted along, her mind wandered to thoughts of past friends. where were they now? Did they remember her? Her thought process was interrupted by suddenly bumping into another pony. Jumping back a little, Blind Side quickly starts the apologies. "I'm very sorry I bumped into you! I'm normally a lot better at hearing other ponies, but I was a bit distracted. I apologize." She said, bracing for the lectures she usually gets from the snobby ponies.

Silent jumped back startled then helped the pony up. From what it looked like she was saying something but he couldn't lip read well enough to know what it was. A small sigh rushed out of him and he pointed to his hears and made the pthbbth sound then signed,

"Hello, my name is Silent Whistle." He then Bowed and continued, "What is your name?" He then face-hooved knowing that she probably didn't understand sign language... if only he still had that notepad and pen Warm Threads had given him.

Blind sat there slightly confused. she couldn't hear the pony saying anything. only a sigh and what sounded like a rasberry. "H-Hello? Are you ok?" She asked, waiting for any kind of words at all.

"Blind Side!" Lunar Star exclaimed as she poofed between the two. Blind Side yelped at the surprise. It would seem her old friend has learned a new trick. "Ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh! I haven't seen you in ages!" Lunar Star said, happily bouncing in place. Quickly realizing there's another pony here, She quickly turns around smiles Warmly. She was about to speak when she remembered seeing the stallion point to his ears as she was about to teleport over. She knew a little sign language. she had read multiple books on it anyway. "Hi, My name is Lunar Star. You can't speak?" She signed. The last question was pretty useless, but that's pretty much what Lunar specializes in.

"Lunar? Is that you?" Blind Side asked curiously. "who else is here?"

Failing to hold back the laughter, Lunar keeps signing to the stallion. "Excuse her. she is blind." She signed, still laughing.

Silent shook his head sadly and signed, 'I can't hear a thing since I had my ear drums removed and finally someone knows sign!' He then bowed and greeted her back, 'My name is Silent Whistle and I was just looking for a place to call home and set up my restaurant. It's nice to meet you Miss Lunar.'

Once Silent found out she was blind he let out a slight chuckle. Well this conversation would have gone no where in a hurry if she hadn't come along. 'Can you also tell the blind pony it was nice to meet her too and apologize for my lack of being able to hear her.'

Blind could Hear Lunar laughing, but she was still really unsure about what was going on. "Oh, Blind! You bumped into a Stallion who can't hear or speak! Could you imagine you two trying to talk to each other?" She said, bursting out into more laughter. "oh. That explains a lot." Blind Side said, clearing her throat. Since Lunar knew she was blind, Blind Side didn't really concentrate on where her head was facing. but since the Stallion was there, She made sure to keep her head pointed in the right direction with her eyes open.

Lunar signed back "It's nice to meet you as well, Silent Whistle!" She was grinning like a filly as she signed this. "Her name is Blind Side, by the way. I forgot to mention that." Turning back to Blind, She was enjoying being the translator for the two. "His name is Silent Whistle. He also says that it's nice to meet you!" "It's nice to meet him as well." Blind said, Smiling.

'Ah, well tell Miss Blind Side that I'm looking for a place to call home and set up my restaurant... But' Silent looked around for a bit then signed 'I'm lost... Yeah this first timer in Such a big city gets turned around quiet a lot. It feels as if I've been trotting in circles trying to find a bank to switch out my currencies.'

He chuckled as he pulled out crystalized bits. 'I'm not sure these would get me anywhere around here but they do make for an interesting party trick even though when everypony's a crystal they all can do it.'

He set one large crystal down a few feet away from himself then bowed towards it letting a tiny blue energy leak out of his hooves and into the crystal causing it to shoot rainbows everywhere. He then put it back in his pack.

Lunar started passing on the information when the sight of the crystalized bits caught her eyes. She was officially hypnotized. When Silent made one of them shoot rainbows? She was ecstatic! "Ohmygosh! That's so COOL!" She said bouncing around. she had momentarily forgotten Silent couldn't hear her. Blind Giggled at the sound of Lunar so happy. She clearly hadn't changed over the years. Making sure to speak slower, She speaks up. "I know you can't hear me, but it's great to meet you." She said, hoping she was facing the right direction. "Lunar! Translations, remember?" "Oh yeah! hehehe"

Finishing up passing on the information, Lunar smiles like a little filly again. "Ah! Well, I'm a guard. So, if you have any legal troubles, I'll be happy to help." She said, smiling.

(we can just assume Lunar's passing on the info from Blind Side)

Silent saluted Blind then remembered she couldn't see. Dangit why do I keep doing that?? Eh, I probably look like a fool and on top of that being an outsider as well. He then turned his attention to Lunar and smiled seeing that she really enjoyed being a translator.

'Tell Miss Blind Side that I am honored to meet such a royal guard!' It must be amazing to meet royalty and I one day dream of serving dishes to the royals. Oh the joy of waiting for them to take their first bite of my grass cakes and icy freeze delicacies... He snapped back to reality and smiled apologetically.

"it's just my job." Blind Side said, smiling. It was a good thing that Lunar had shown up when she did. This conversation would be nonexistent without her. She should really catch up with her when she gets the chance. it's been years since the two have seen each other.

Instinctively passing on the info now, Lunar ads a question of her own. "What's restaurant going to be called? I would love to come by some time." Then, it hit her. she had forgotten an important detail that Silent had said earlier. "Oh right, you said you were lost?" Lunar had actually spoken that last question as well. "I can help you as best I can. But I'm not sure how much help a blind mare is going to be." Blind Side said, keeping a straight face.

'Well I could use all the help I can get. The restaurant is still a work in progress, I still need to find a vacant building or a vacant spot to build on. And I plan to make it on two floors so it won't take up too much room. It'll have 5 or 8 star food since I was trained by the best crystal chefs... but I'm also looking to learn about food from all over Equestria and try combining cultures to make an absolutely melt in your mouth, chills down your spine food!'

He snapped out of his fantasy and back into reality... Ha, I seem to be doing that a lot now... stupid reality... He thought to himself.

"I'd be happy to help you out as best I can." Blind said. She wasn't sure how she could possibly help, but it was only polite to extend the offer. "I think I saw a place a little like that a couple blocks down." Lunar signed. "I'd be happy to show you if you'd like."

Blind Side obviously had no clue what building she was talking about, but she was glad to follow.

Silent nodded excitedly and signed, 'Oh yes, please! That would be greatly appreciated!' His excitement grew as they drew ever closer to the abandoned building. His mind went wild with fantasies of having a four star restaurant and slowly reconstructing it to meet his dream requirements.

'Do you know if this building is for sale? Or how much it costs?'

Lunar bounced down the street in excitement. There was little else she enjoyed than making other ponies happy. "Yes it is." She signs. pointing to a sign real quick, she continues. "This group appears to be selling it." bouncing in place, Lunar was really excited. She just made a new friend who might be starting a business here! Yay!

Blind Side kept quiet through the whole thing. There was little for her to say. although she did laugh when she heard Lunar's hooves. that mare was certainly filled to the brim with energy.

Silent walked up and wiped away dust from the window. It was perfect for what he needed but now the problem was how to contact them for the price. He then turned back to Lunar and signed, 'How do we contact them and what was this place before? I'll have to do a little crystalline re-construction so it feels more like home.'

He sighed and signed, 'Of course I'd have to have somepony there who can communicate to the construction crew my design when the time comes if you wouldn't mind.' He signed hopeful.

Lunar did a bit of bouncing around at the excitement of making a new friend before attempting to calm herself and making her way to Silent. "I think their office isn't far from here. I can't be sure though. I never had to go see them."

"What's the place?" Blind Side stepped in. after Lunar told her the name of the group, Blind Side's ears perked up. Se was finally useful! "I know exactly where that place is. I was called to a robbery there last week."

'Well thank you very much for your help I'll try and contact them!' His eyes widened when Lunar told him what Blind had said. 'Oh gosh, a robbery??!! Will my shop be okay? Oh wow I'm sure the crystals I'd use to re-build the place could go up in value once vandalized... Am I really making the right decision in building here?'

He said starting to lose his crystalline sheen as the worry grew.

Lunar was just as intent with learning the outcome to this as Silent was.

"Calm down. That was the first in a while. it's been even longer since a robbery occurred near here." Blind Said with a smile. She really hadn't intended for that small fact to get him so worried. Noticing Silent's crystal glow diminishing, Lunar was getting worried. "Are you ok?" she signed. "you aren't very shiny anymore."

Silent perked up letting the blue light consume him once more to return to his purely crystalline state. 'Oh, no, I'm just fine, thanks for asking. Just used to being around ponies who are filled with light and love all the time," He chuckled, "I guess I'm still getting used to life outside of the empire, it's so edgy and awesome!"

He said getting excited a little.

Lunar bounced as Silent's crystalline glow returned. One could easily say that Lunar was easily impressed. Then it hit her. "Did I tell you that silent is a crystal pony, Side?" Blind's useless eyes opened a little wider at this. This was certainly a pleasant surprise. She had heard of the Crystal ponies, but she never imagined she'd meet one. "No, you didn't. That's pretty cool." Blind said, still trotting slowly towards the office. She'd have to ask some questions later when it's more appropriate.

Silent quietly followed Blind towards the office preparing his sales/buyer's strategy. His excitement was at it's peak When they were finally in front of it. 'Okay... um... right' He thought quietly preparing his speech. 'Okay I think I'm ready! He thought as he pushed the door open.

He couldn't believe it was finally time to make his dream come true at last! He'd finally own his own crystal slice of heaven. Now for a name...

Lunar bounced in excitement as a few sparks came from her horn. she was really excited for Silent. He seemed to really want this. "Good luck!" Lunar yelled as Silent pushed the door open. she had forgotten he can't hear. Typical Lunar. Blind Side just assumed that Lunar was signing everything. "Yes, best of luck, Silent." Blind Side said with that in mind.

Silent's heart was racing a mile a minute as Lunar pushed open the door. He cleared his throat and stepped through the door then went right up to a pony in a blue suit. Upon hearing hoof steps the pony looked up and said, "Hi, may we help you?" Silent then shook his head and pointed to his ears trying to tell them he couldn't hear them.

Finally one got the hint and called in a translator. When the translator greeted him with a warming smile his unease lifted and he started signing. 'Um, hi, my name is Silent Whistle and I was wondering if that building around the corner was still for sale. If it is then I would like to purchase it to turn it into an five star restaurant with a whole new construction design.'

The pony's ears perked up as a smile stretched across his elderly features as he signed back, 'of course it's still for sale, we were planning on just tearing it down but at the right price we will see. How much do you plan to pay?'

Silent then pulled out his 100 crystalized bits and handed them over to the shocked gentle ponies. "T-t-that would be a fortune in Canterlot! SOLD!" The elderly pony handed the deed to the building and shooed Silent away while counting his bits. Silent walked out of the office with a huge smile on his face then pushed open the door to Lunar and Blind while showing the deed to Lunar. 'It's mine!' He signed.

Lunar Stood on the tip of her hooves when Silent came back out. She was really excited to hear how it turned out. When he signed that he got it, she couldn't hold in her excitement anymore. Leaping towards Silent, She gives him a big hug. She was so happy for him! Blind stood there, a little confused. Silent was clearly back and Lunar was obviously excited about something. "Lunar! Translations!" Lunar was bouncing around the room at this point. Her horn letting off small little magical sparks. Stopping where she was, She wears the perfect 'embarrassed' face. "Whoopsie, Sorry! Yeah, He got the place!"

Just like that, Blind understood what had happened. it was just like Lunar to forget about the important things in the excitement. "That's great! Congratulations Silent."
