A Flower in the Garden

With a heavy saddlebag on her back and a large headache, Rosella Petals was now in Trottingham. The quaint town had none of the hustle and bustle of the large cities, and none of the excitement of Ponyville. It was a nice change for the depressed pony, one of peace and quiet.

She dropped her bags and reclined on a bench to watch the calm town go by. The river bubbled in the distance, calming and gentle, as the mare sighed. There would be no bad memories in this town. It was perfect for concentration and focus.

The only problem now would be to find lodging, The mare had given most of her current bits to her landlmare in Ponyville, and the rest of her money was in the bank. This town was new, and she wasn't even sure if there was a bank here.

She pulled out a candied daisy and nibbled on it, enjoying the sweet taste of the sugar running down her throat.

Unfortunately, her headache had to do with the fact that she so foolishly gotten extremely drunk the night before, and even though she had taken a sobriety pill, it had not cleansed her system out completely.

There were bad memories in Ponyville. It had been time to move on, and now the crystal mare with an unusually sad demeanor was in a new place.

Belle trotted off the train, and felt the wind as it zoomed away. She looked around, this was a new place and she wasn't sure how she would do here.

She sighed and walked towards Robin Hoof Square. Since she was too busy taking in the crowded buildings, she didn't notice the light, sparkling, mint green pony in front of her, and ran right into her.

"Oh jeez, I'm so sorry!" she hurried to say.

"Oof!" Rosie sputtered as a mare ran into her side, knocking her over.

"It's no problem," she said quickly. "I'm impressed you actually got me off my feet. Most ponies can't. Then again, I'm a bit hungover..."

She stuck out her hoof in greeting, trying to keep the scarf over her scar. "Rosella Petals. What's your name?"

(Yep)

"I'm Belle, its nice to meet you. You're hungover? Why? Do you need help?" the white unicorn asked with concern as she shook the crystal pony's hoof. She wondered why the pony had been drunk, but didn't want to pry. Perhaps the mare would give her something to write about

"No, it's nothing," Rose muttered, shifting into her alternate persona. "I'm fine. Just a bit of hurtful news. Nothing I want to talk about. I'm here in Trottingham to forget, so tell me... are you from around here, or are you a newcomer as well?"

Belle glanced away, thinking of her experience in Ponyville. She sighed contentedly, dazing off into a daydream. She snapped out of it quickly and replied with,
"Well, I've never been here before, I was hoping to find somepony who knew their way around." She shrugged.

"We'll have to find our own way around, I guess," Rose muttered. "There's nopony here. Come on, let's go take a look around town before we die of boredom."

On that happy note, Rose picked up her bag and hauled it off, not really caring where she went.

Rose was the pessimistic side of Rosella. She cried often, was sharp with others, depressed, and angry. Rose had disappeared when Sombra disappeared, but she had returned last night with a bang.

Belle smiled and nodded. This pony seemed......angry?......sad? She wasn't sure. Perhaps she coul help cheer Rosella up.

"Let's go that way, it looks promising." Bell said, pointing in a random direction. She began trotting that way, calling back to Rosella, "so do you have a place to stay yet?"

"I don't," Rose answered. "I just got here myself, and it seems to me like there aren't many inhabitants here in Trottingham. It's nice for what I need to do. Calm, peace, and serenity are all good environmental advantages to this place."

Belle nodded, understanding the need for serenity.

"Okay," she said, walking in silence.

"Um, I understand if you don't want to talk about it, but I'd like to know where you came from?"

"I'm from the Empire," Rose answered, slightly shifting back to Rosie. "It's a nice place, but I like to travel a lot. It's my permanent home, but I find temporary lodging in different places. Anyways, what about you? You seem like you come from somewhere interesting."

"Me?" Belle asked, surprised for some reason, "I don't really have a home. I travel a lot, but I do return to......a place sometimes." she said, not wanting to mention the occurrence in Ponyville. Belle couldn't wait to return, but had a feeling that she shouldn't mention the town.
