Batgear...

Renaultar knocked on Blue's door. He had dropped off his armor a while ago and figured he would come back now and see what Blue had cooked up. He brought a small sum of bits too since he figured that this stuff wasn't entirely free. The old goat was retired after all.

Soon came the clatter of locks and latches being undone and the slow movement of a stubborn deadbolt. Blue poked his head out the door and opened it fully at seeing the familiar face.

"Came by to check on your new armor? Of course I can't count on you to come just as a social visit."

"Oh, i guess the last one after the hospital was just for the free drink and eating?" Renaultar chuckled. "Maybe this time ill ask for a place to sleep and bathe. Can i come in?"

He glanced behind himself, checking again to make sure he wasn't followed.

"Take the elevator up to the fourth floor, then take the stairs down to here. When you leave go back up and call the elevator." He steps out of the way for Renaultar to move in.

"And as I recall your previous two visits have been for business."

Renaultar sighed with a smile. "I would claim you never visit me, but i have yet to tell you where i live." He walked in, looking much better now that his recovery was about finished. He took more caution with how he maneuvered around the furniture this time and not make a fool of himself.

"So how have you been old goat? The life of retirement just bursting with adventure?"

Blue nods, making his way toward his study, the door of which has a strange full face mask hanging from it.

"Oh yes, quite exciting. I've made a lot more excursions into the slums and industrial district to get cheap metal from the scrapyards and junk dealers. I fought off three thugs just yesterday, and two two days ago. It's quite adventurous."

Renaultar was pretty surprised to hear that. "Sweet Celesita. You need to tell me next time. No telling if one day you will get more than you can chew. You stupid goat." He sighed. Chances were he would still go it alone. As much as Renaultar didn't want to admit it, he felt like beating up some 'bad guys' ever since he had been stuck at home.

Blue turns his head, grinning while giving Renaultar a 'I told you so' look.

"I told you I can fight."

He then pushes the door open to reveal his neat and tidy work area. The far wall is made up of one large book case filled to the brim with journals and papers, both published and personal. The other across from it has metal bits and components neatly arranged in bins. And sandwiched between both walls is a thick, crude dining room table, design and research notes are spread around it like napkins next to dishes made from scrap, prototypes, and miscellaneous unused materials. Renaultar's upgraded barding makes up the centerpiece in the middle of the faux dinner. It is visibly bigger and much less form fitting than it was previously and the insides are lined with cloth.

"Well here's your new armor. I expanded it, reinforced it, lined the insides with rubber to absorb blunt shock and covered that with cloth. It's heavier but is far more comfortable and... Hm... protection worthy, let's go with that."

Renaultar couldn't help but smile at the sight of it. "Wow. That pretty impressive. The weight shouldn't be too hard on me. But now it looks like its made for a beating." He inspected it more closely and flipped some parts about with a hoof. "You weren't kidding about this stuff. I really do owe you Blue. I can't wait to try it on."

He brushes a hoof on his chest. "Well I do take pride in my work."

"Pride goes a long way. Can you help me get this on?" He said laying the first piece over his back. He was tempted to do the helmet first, but that was best saved for last. Tradition and all. He was honestly very excited about this.

Blue gets up and lifts the armor with his hooves and mouth over Renaultar's back and helps to pull his tail through the back none too gently.

"There... That should keep you warmer than just metal. How's it feel?"

Renaultar winced and squirmed a little as his tail was pulled. It was not a pleasent feeling when not expected. "Don't yank the tail. It fragile! Heh. And this is pretty comfy. This will be a nice layer for the winter." He said testing it with a hoof.

Blue takes two more pieces of metal and ducks his head under Renny's chest from the side to pull the straps now circling his forelegs and pulls away to drop his boots onto the ground.

"I also took the liberty to make you some leg guards as well."

Renaultar was even more happy about that. While he thought he was looking rather 'decked out' this would surely give him some more survival and intimidation. "Do the boots work with tramplers? Sharp horseshoe weights attacked for painful bucking. Usually they are optional."

Blue goes over to his desk by the door, shifting through papers.

"I didn't change the original design of them, just enlarged them, so they should."

Renaultar looked over himself and smiled. "Squire! Take the honor of donning my helmet upon me!" He said with a laugh, sticking his head out as one would to be knighted.

Blue responds with a kick to his armored rump powerful enough to jolt him and potentially knock him forward on his face.

Renaultar nearly did just that. He barely recovered but was happy it did not really hurt. He knew that saying that would get him some flak but he laughed heartily. "Oh Blue, your are just too much fun." He said before took the helmet and put it on himself.

It was such a nice relief to be back in armor for him. Before the incident he wore it all the time save at home or in bed. Being off work and having busted up armor made him feel rather vulnerable for a long time.

"You have no idea how complete this stuff makes me feel."

Blue responds again by turning with an invoice in his mouth, listing various fees landing at a grand total of 200 bits.

"You can show your appreciation by making my bank account feel complete."

Renaultar's smile quickly faded at the three digit number starring him in the face. There were several quiet moments that went by.

"...200 hundred bits!? Are you mad? I could almost buy a house with that!....Granted it would be a shack with critters in the slums, but still a house." He looked to Blue hoping it was a joke but frowned. ".....How about i give you 50 for today, and the rest i can cover later...."

Blue meets his eyes evenly, showing it's clearly not a joke and places the piece of paper on the paper. "Yes, 200 bits... Wait.." He does a doubletake. "200... no that's, ahem... for somepony else." He picks it back up and files it away quickly, then returns with another listed at 75 bits.

Renaultar let out a loud sigh of relief. "Oh by Celestia's beard, thank goodness. 75 i can do. I don't have it all on me now, but i can do 50 right now." He said putting his coin purse on the table.

"I figured you would go senile sooner or later."

Blue sets it down on the table and scoffs. "Senile? Hardly. I expect you to go senile before me. After all, if you don't use it, you lose it and I can't think of when you've used your mind."

Renaultar held out a hoof and opened his mouth to counter him, but he was quiet. Several times he tried to think of something witty to say back but could not think of anything. All the more ironic on the end.

"...You are really lucky i enjoy your company so much."
