Looking to meet some ponies

Shadow Jet is walking around the Ponyville town square looking around to meet some new ponies

Switchblade casually strolls into the town square, he sees a pony looking a bit bored, so decides to introduce himself, "hello there" he says.

Jet hearing someone talking to him turns and sees a unicorn and says "Hi." After a few seconds of silence he sighs and says "Do you need something?"

Switchblade smiles warmly and hops next to Jet and clears his mind for a second, then pausing to wind up a pocketwatch, he looks at it for a second and remembers what he was doing "I don't need anything myself, no, I was wondering whether you would need somepony to talk to." he says at last

"You can say that again." Jet chuckles and looks up seeing the sun was shaded from a nearby building so he flicks his head up the shades so that they are on top of his head

"Pretty rocking shades" Switchblade says as he turns a cog on his work goggles forcing the glass to slide up, "real nice day today, real nice."

Jet nods his silvery eyes seeming all knowing "Thanks the were from my parents." Jet takes a deep breath "I will have to agree with you. Anyway my name is Shadow Jet but I just go by Jet."

Switchblade smiled at jet "Nice to meet you Jet, my name is Switchblade, I am the cogsmith round here" he said merrily before closing the left goggle shade to hide his scarred eye.

Jet chuckles "I don't have a fancy title like that Cogsmith Switchblade. I am just a simple Pegasus racer."

Switchblade thinks about a suitable response before bursting out laughing and saying "probably a whole lot better paid than me"

Shadow Jet grins and says "I only earn how much I bet and sometimes I don't earn anything."

Switchblade smiled and flicked out a curved scimitar sword with a ornate military symbol on it "This is my second job, patrolling the streets to protect citizens, can you see the Insignia?" Switchblade accidentally knocks his work goggles off his head "blast, the glass is bust" he exclaimed, stowing them to the side of him.

Jet nods "That is a pretty good blade and yes that is a symbol I haven't seen it in a while."

Switchblade looks at jet slightly confused " what do you mean you haven't seen this symbol in a while? It was standard issue for guards to display!"

Jet squints at it "Oh I must be thinking of a different insignia."

Switchblade hums an old tune to himself and looks at his broken goggles "I can cover my wounded eye up for you if you'd prefer that instead of attracting your line of sight" he said

Jet shrugs "Ehhh I am fine I had the same problem plus the sun blinding me before I started wearing my shades and goggles when flying or walking."

Switchblade looked around him "So why in Equestria would you live somewhere like this when there is no racing arena to be seen?"

Jet shrugs again "I don't know maybe I can start saving to start construction for one."

Switchblade nods in acknowledgement"Y'know, I've never seen a Pegasus race before, where's your next race?"

Jet thinks "I don't have one cause I haven't been challenged or have challenged any pony."

Switchblade considers the statement for a moment "So the races work on a challenge basis instead of a timetable, I suppose"

Jet nods his head "Well that is how I do it."

Switchblade flicks his pocket watch open and checks the time, he looks back at Jet "So do you wear any special equipment for racing?"

Jet thinks again and says "Just this vest and...." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his goggles "These. I wear for luck to not go blind and because my father gave them to me before I left home."
