Entrance of the arrogant one

"I bet I couldn't. Thing is ponies don't usually live in breweries. I could build the basic...establishment, but the machines are your problem." Said Blackfire, returning to the counter and finishing his water.

"Can I get another glass of water? With a bendy straw? And also, I don't see you building anything. Except for over priced drinks of course." he said, patting the counter, wondering if 'built' is a word that can be applied to a drink.

Shala knew a brewery would take a bit more. She knew ponies that could probably get the rest done.

She glared at him and magicked his glass over to the sink, filling it with water and adding ice before returning it to him.

"You don't want to know the things i have done, lightweight."

"I have a name, barkeep. And I had announced it when I entered this establishment. In case you've forgotten, It's Blackfire. And also, I asked for a straw, a bendy one." he said, pointing to his drink.

Something told Blackfire that this days events would be the foundation of his Ponyville reputation.

Shala glared at him for some time. She really heavily considered doing something to this pony. Unfortunately, she did not own this place. Not yet. Instead, she opted for the nicer course of action and pulled out several dozen straws and dropped them into his glass. All the while she kept glaring at him.

"Now that's what I call service." he said, drinking out of as many straws as he could. Blackfire stopped drinking to take a breath and to speak some more.

"This is the type of service i expect. Very nicely done Barkeep. Water's free right?" he nervously asked.

"Yes..." Shala said, still glaring at him. "...But the straws cost extra. One bit per straw." She smirked at him.

Blackfire stopped drinking and looked at the barkeep, appalled. What kind of world was it where straws costs more than water. It was atrocious. The Barkeep was glaring at him so it was probably best for him not to say anything.

"You gave me too many straws." He let out.

In a certain technical way, it was her fault.

Shala upgraded her smirk to a grin. "Well, i guess i could wave the fee...For some courtesy."

Seeing a pony put into a position to be humbled always made her smile. Maybe she should ask him to get on his knees too. She loved a pony on his knees.

The fee was small, but Blackfire could do a task that could completely eliminate it. Blackfire didn't really like paying a fee that was not his fault (apparently).

"Courtesy eh? I guess I should ask. What kind of courtesy are you looking for, barkeep?" he asked,

Blackfire had been in these situations before. If memory serves he would usually do small jobs, or perhaps a small dance. Of course he was young, and it was his parents...

"My name is Shala to start. When your in this bar, you show some respect or ill poison your drink. You may be paying me for things, but down here you don't just pay with bits. I do you a service, you do me a service. If not, i can promise you that this tavern can spread plenty of rumors and whispers about bad and unwanted ponies that gets to everyponies ears. Ponies like that don't last too long here. Capeshe?"

Shala kept her glare on. She meant every word she said. Sure, poison was a bit far, but she never said it would be deadly. Poison joke, though, was much more potent if ingested.

Blackfire was paying attention to what the barkeep, Shala she was called, was saying. Respect? He had been the kindest of people when he entered the bar. Guess they need some sort of higher level respect. He understood that. Except for that last part, she must've sneezed or something.

"Okay okay. I understand. I will show more respect. That counts as a service, right?" he asked

"Respect from you is required. Respect from me is a courtesy. Now that we 'understand' each other Blackfire, you don't have to worry about those straws. Nor the fries, you lightweight." She went back to her glass polishing.

That was one of the only times she had to lay things out with another in Ponyville. She had done it enough in Manehattan, but that was a different life. She was here to get away from that.

"Very good then. I'm glad to understand." he said, finishing off his beverage.

A thought suddenly entered Blackfire's mind. Some time must've passed since he entered this pub. He looked around for a clock, only to find none.

"Say, what time is it? It must've been hours... possibly days since I came in here."

Shala groaned and faceplanted onto the counter top. The pain of clocks counted off in her head. "Thirty seven minutes and 28 seconds past four....25 minutes and 51 seconds since you last asked." She glared at him and quickly retrieved her bottle of vodka to down a fair amount of liquor.

After gasping for breath and getting a breather after her drink, she looked up to Blackfire. "...Don't....ask me about....time...Just don't...Or I'll hurt you."

"You must have an impeccable sense of time. 25 minutes, huh? I should get going then. It was nicer making your acquaintance. See ya next time." Said Blackfire, chuckling on his way to the door. Apparently, taking about time made her miserable. This could be exploited.

Shala groaned and faceplanted into the bar again. More mentions of time to drive her up the wall. She downed a fair bit more alcohol again and hiccuped. At least now she would be in peace.

Blackfire had fun in the pub. He managed to annoy a couple of people and even make himself a reputation.

"For my first day in Ponyville, I would say it was a success." he said to himself, galloping back to his workplace.
