First Timer

Lucky entered the tavern quietly and looked around. She had always known about this place but never bothered to visit, but she felt as though some time out would be good for her, and maybe she would finally be able to meet some other ponies instead of staying cooped up in her house all day. She walked over to the bar and sat down, but didn't say anything. She just sat at the bar like a statue.

Life walked into the well known tavern and took his regular seat. He ordered a glass of wine in an elegant glass and looked over to see the pony next to him sitting there in complete silence. "You alright?" He asked looking a little concerned.

"Hmm?" She turned to look at him. "Oh, erm, yeah I'm alright. It's just my first time coming to this place." She looked down and then back at Life, not really knowing what to do or say.

"Oh well welcome!" Smiling. His wine had arrived and he picked it up with his wing and brought it to his lips to take a sip. "What would you like to drink? It's on me" He said still smiling.

"Thanks, but I think I'll just have some water. I'm not much of a drinker to be honest." She focused most of her attention on him.

"Haha, well okay if thats what you want..." He put a bit on the table and asked for some water. "So, what brings you here?"

"Well I moved into town a few days ago. Mostly to settle down and try to make a permanent place for myself." She took a sip of her water. "I've had a lot of trouble finding a decent place. Maybe it's because of how picky I can be, or something along those lines. What about you?"

"oh, I need to relax ALOT" He said stretching. "See, I work at the Hospital... aaannndddd there are a lot of patients..."

"I can't even begin to imagine how stressful a job like that could be. But why are there so many patients? This town doesn't seem like it has any problems. I assumed the worst that could happen to you is if you were to run into something."

"Well this hospital is the only know hospital around so EVERYPONY goes there..." He swallowed the rest of his wine in one gulp.

"The only one? What about Canterlot? Or Trottingham? Or Manehattan? Shouldn't one of those cities have a hospital too?"

"I'm not sure, but I haven't heard of one in Canterlot or Manehattan... Well enough about me. So what is your skill?"

"Well I'm a mechanic for the most part, but I also do a lot of carpentry work too." she took another sip of her water. "That's pretty much been my passion since I was a foal to be honest."

"Really? huh that strange.... No offense or anything!" Life said rubbing the back of his head.

"How is it strange?" she tilted her head slightly.

"That as a filly you like that sorta stuff you know? I mean that's not your most common likings..." This time he was blushing, most probably the alcohol.

"Well I guess that's true. I mean, most of my friends had found out their talents were a bit more fitting for their age. I remember Annabelle's talent was gardening or something. I guess I was a bit of a tomboy or something back then." She took another sip and finished her water. "So is there anything exciting going on around here, any special events planned?"

"Not that I know of... I'm stuck in the hell hole for most of my time, I only get off work once a week. And so I come here to drink myself away..." He said half smiling, half saddened.

"Dang, I could never deal with that. Being away from home so much working all day would be a nightmare for me." She paused for a moment. "What about relatives? Do you have any friends or family"

"friends? Yeah sure i have a couple. You could say that. As for family or relatives? Nope, none. Its just me, myself, and I" he put down a couple more bits for something stronger to drink. "Do you have family?" he asked grim-faced.

She looked down at the floor. "No. I don't even know where my parents are to be honest." She looked back at him. "When I was younger, a wildfire came through my home. I guess you can make a decent picture of what happened from there."
