| Well. It had certainly been a long way they had walked from the Industrial District to the Market District. It had surprised Special Delivery that the town managed to even be this large. His hooves ached lightly, which was annoying, especially since he usually spent a lot more time on his hooves while working. Also, his stomach grumbled like a distant thunderstorm, also aching a little, and his throat felt like it was covered with sand.
He looked around the Market District, finally spotting the place they had been looking for since escaping the thugs in the alleyway. The place was called Hot Shot, and even if it seemed like a place were the youngsters barely reached their legal drinking age gathered, he pointed at the place. "First pub I have seen here. Would this be the place?"

| Tinker shrugged and said, "Sounds good enough t' me. Ah ain't tried it before, muhself. Ah'm jus' glad Ah know where th' hay we are again. That's always a good thing, ya know? Anywho, let's get on in there, see what kinda place it is."
He headed towards the pub, looking for a good place to park his cart while they rested from their endeavor.
OOC: Sounds good to me. Open 'er up! :D Not that you're not fun, but playing with other ponies sounds good. XD

| As they entered the place, Special Delivery already got a nice feeling about it. It was lit enough, nicely vacant, but not deserted either - also clean and there was a delicious sweet smell of beverages in the air.
"Wow..." he said, "I thought this would be quite different place, by the name of it... But well, you don't judge the book by its covers." As if Spec knew anything about books. Propably the last book he had read was titled "Run, Spot, Run!" and even that one had a bookmark somewhere in the middle, despite the book being mostly a picture book.

| Tinker grinned as he followed Special in, looking around and taking in the sights and smells of the place. "Ah know what ya mean, mah friend!" replied the handypony as they entered the pub, "Ah definitely wasn't expectin' someplace like THIS t' have th' name 'Hot Shots'. Ah, well. Ah guess th' owner's special talent is runnin' taverns, not namin' 'em, yeah?"
He looked around for a good seat, maybe even one at the bar. He really wasn't all that concerned about WHERE he sat, just so long as there was a spot for him to plonk his plot down for a bit.

| For a moment, Spec's mind drifted to wonder, what kind of a pony would be a pony, who's special talent lied only in naming things. Then he shook his head a little and continued to find a good place to sit down. There was a couple of free stools at the side of the bar desk and he hastened his steps to get them reserved.
As he plopped down on a seat, Special Delivery sighed and took his time to observe around the place. It had a nice atmosphere and most importantly, there was a menu of drinks available nearby. He took his time to observe that sight for a moment.
"I owe you one, wasn't that so?" he then asked.

| Tinker plonked his plot down at the bar next to Spec, smiling broadly as he did so. While Spec was absorbing the atmosphere, Tinker was looking at a menu. While the decor was nice and all, he really needed something to drink. He also often found that pub decor was generally best examined when one already had some quantity of the pub's product running through one's system.
When Spec asked his question, Tinker nodded, grinning as he joked, "Eeeyup. You buy th' first round, Ah buy th' second. That was our gentlestallions' agreement, an' Ah plan on stickin' to it. Ah'm likin' th' looks o' their apple cider. Never was one fer fancy mixed drinks an' such. Lucky you, Ah'm a cheap date, hehe."

| She parked her cart outside the Hot Shots, and made certain everything inside it was covered, then walked slowly into the little pub, her hooves clicking softly. She had a blanket over her back which concealed her flanks, but what was visible of her was pure white. She approached the bar, and softly ordered simple apple juice, placing her bits on the counter as she waited. A white unicorn, with a soft voice. She had spotted both Tinker and Special Delivery, but she didn't approach too closely. | |

| Tinker waved at the white unicorn who seemed apprehensive, and patted the empty seat next to him as he said with a friendly smile, "Howdy, miss! C'mon, have a seat, stay a while! Don't worry, Ah don't bite. An' if muh friend tries, you'll have me between y'all jus' in case."
After all, the handypony thought, the more the merrier. And it wasn't like they'd reserved those spots or anything. Of course, he understood if she was a bit... wary of strange ponies, especially in this town.

| Ghost came over, since Tinker had invited her, and said softly "Thank you. I go by Ghost. Can you tell me anything much about this town? Perhaps where one might sell a few trinkets for some bits?" | |

| Special Delivery ordered an apple cider for the green pony, and while they were at the ciders, he ordered himself a cider as well, just one made from pears, as he was more of a perry kind of pony. He was about to mention this to the pony next to him, but - to his surprise - noticed Tinker had already gotten more company.
Spec blew out a long whistling sound to emphasize his amazement. "You already got a date, you sly dog, you." he said, smirking, then giving a gentle push at Tinker on the green pony's side. But of course, then he stopped joking, as it seemed the mare was about and around for some business only and not out for seeking company. About the trinkets, he was not sure, as they were not in his own main focus at all.
"Gosh, sorry, miss", he said to the white one, "I am not too familiar with things like that. I suppose that if you can't find it in here - this district of the city - you can't find it anywhere." Then he leaned closer and whispered like in the stageplays - so that everyone could hear - "Just don't go to the back alleys. They are a dangerous place!"

| Tinker smirked, "Ain't that th' truth. Yeah, this here'd be th' market district, so iffin' yer gonna set up shop someplace, this'd be th' place t' do it. Ah'd avoid th' worse parts o' town, though. There's some real unsavory types in this here town."
He then scratched his chin with a hoof in thought for a moment, and thensaid, "O' course, Ah guess it depends on what yer sellin', really. Anyhow, y'all mus' be from out of town, too, eh? Otherwise Ah figger you wouldn't be askin'. Th' name's Tinker, by the way, an' muh friend here is Special Delivery. We're jus' a couple of regular guys havin' a drink after a bit of a rough day."

| Ghost nodded, and said "Oh yes. I'm definitely from out of town. I'm a traveling artist. I, ah, don't usually settle into one place for more than a few days at most. I will stay out of the alleyways. I don't normally go into tight spaces, my cart won't fit there." | |

| Special Delivery sighed a little, and sat back on his stool as the ordered drinks were given to them. Two similar pints, with the only difference being the shade of the fluids inside them.
"What kind of artist?" he asked the newcomer, being polite. Actually, Spec did not quite understand art - at least that modern kind - but some paintings had nice colours and all that stuff. But to be completely honest, he found artists a little ... useless, in a way, but that was just because he had grown up in a place, where hard, physical work was more appreciated.

| Ghost arched her neck, and said "I sculpt stones. And make jewelry, but mostly I do stone sculptures and statues. My cart outside has all my work in it." | |

| Tinker smiled and said, "That sounds nice. Ah ain't much good at that kinda stuff. Ah mostly jus' do odd jobs. Whatever folks're needin' done, you know?" Art was definitely one of those things that Tinker hadn't really had time to learn. With all the stuff you needed to do a proper job of sculpting or painting, Tinker just didn't have the space in his cart along with his tools and such. Not that he was without any culture. He did have his guitar, after all.
When their drinks came, Tinker picked up his mug and held it out towards Special Delivery, grinning as he said, "Cheers! Here's t' bein' alive t' enjoy this drink!"

| Special Delivery tinked his mug to Tinker's mug's edge and then raised it a little, saying: "And hope there will be many more!" After that little toast, he took a proper gulp of the beverage in his pint - not like a girly sip nor a horrendous chug, where most of the drink was all over everyplace else than just in the mouth.
After the gulp, the delivery pony sighed and burped a little. "Right to the spot, and excuse my language." he said, smiling to the cool and tasty drink, then again concentrating on the company he had. The artist made him a little curious - it seemed he had lately met a lot of interesting ponies with interesting careers, Tinker being one of the most ordinary personalities of the range.
"Um, this might sound bold or rude, but is there any possibility we have seen your works somewhere?" he asked the white pony, trying not to sound like an oaf, who never entered art galleries.

| Ghost tilted her head, and nodded, then admitted "It is possible. I travel and sell my pieces to anypony who wishes to purchase them, for what they think my work is worth. They do seem popular with the fillies and colts as I often have small cat and dog figurines, as well as other small animals, and some of the littler gryphons and dragons are popular as well. You're welcome to take a look at my work, if you wish to step outside and see it." | |

| [We have waited for Tinker for quite a long time... I am a little out of ideas at the moment.]
Special Delivery swung his hoof a little. "Maybe a little later on, Miss." he said, then grabbing the pint again. "You see, we are enjoying a little breather after a daring escape from some thugs."

| [Sorry!]
Tinker was silent for a while, listening and nodding as he enjoyed his cider. When Spec mentioned their recent misadventure, and Ghost expressed interest, Tinker chuckled and replied, "Well, now, Ah don't wanna go braggin' none. But if yer wantin' t' listen, Ah guess it wouldn't hurt t' tell ya. Me an' Special Delivery, here, was in th' back alleys when we saw some poor pony gettin' mugged. Not bein' th' sorts with th' common sense Celestia gave a parasprite, we stepped in t' help. After chasin' off th' muggers, th' mugee galloped off without so much as a 'thank you'. Of course, we figgered out why not too much later. Turns out th' muggers was part of a big ol' gang, an' the two ponies we chased off went an' got their friends. It was a purty close escape, Ah think we got out by th' hair on our tails."

| Special Delivery nodded, while ordering another round, and said, "Yeah, that's about how it went."
For a moment, he was silent, then realized it would have been polite to order for this new acquaintance as well. "Miss, you fancy a drink if we two fine gentlecolts pay for it?"

| She arched her neck, and said "Thank you, I would be delighted to have a mug of cider with you. Is life in Manehattan often this exciting?" | |

| Tinker shrugged, "Ah guess. We're jus' travelers ourselves. Ah been through here a couple o' times, but this ain't really home fer me, ya know? Ah'm from out West, where thing's're normally a bit quieter... but can get jus' as loud real quick. When us Westerners get in a mood t' celebrate, we can get pretty loud!" | |

| "I am about from the same area as this colt." Special Delivery explained, even if his accent was not as thick as Tinker's. He ordered another cider for their new acquaintance, paying for it as well. "About the excitement around Manehattan, I do not know... I s'pose we entered the wrong place." Spec smirked a little embarrassed about it, but then he nodded in agreement to Tinker's words.
"I would say that the thugs around here are not half as tough as they are at home, here there is just more of them. Quality and quantity, yeh?" he then said.

| (OOC It's the Helliday season. Err, holiday, I suppose. Anyway, you're excused ;) )
IC: Ghost nodded, and said "Quality does matter more than quantity, but if there is too much of either, then it can be bad for others. Too many nefariously intentioned colts and fillies will cause trouble, and too good a troublemaker is never a good thing. I would say you two gentlestallions have had quite a day already!"
