Iris and Dark Cherry

Iris strolled casually into the tavern, barely batting an eye at the ponies casting glances at her. She walked confidently up to the counter and ordered a cider, dropping three bits on the surface. She leaned against the mahogany wood as she waited for her drink.

She observed the other ponies in the tavern, some were drunk and some were having a laugh with friends. Iris wished her friends had joined her, but, they were busy. Instead, she snatched her drink and trotted to a booth.

Cherry ordered some Cherry cider and took a sip, finding it to her liking. She grins and weaves through the tables looking for a place to sit or somepony she knew (Which was close to no one.) She starts to sit at a booth she thought was empty but sees an Purple pegasus. She blushes and smiles.

"Whoops, haha sorry I thought this was empty! My mistake."

As soon as he had dropped off all of his equipment at his house, Thunder Gust headed straight for the nearest tavern, always happy to have a drink after a long show. As soon as the Unicorn entered the building, he walked towards the bar, welcoming the sight of drunk ponies laughing with others and fulfilling completely stupid but entertaining dares.

He ordered two bottles of whiskey from the bartender, and then Gust walked towards the nearest free booth. Two mares were already sitting there, but that was never a problem for him. The Unicorn approached the booth and spoke once he drew near.

"Hey there! Mind if I join you two?"

Iris grinned mid-sip as a unicorn half-sat at her booth.

"Whoops, haha sorry I thought this was empty! My mistake." the unicorn said.

Iris laughed and motioned for her to sit, "It's fine. You can sit, if you'd like."

The unicorn was very pretty, with a beautiful ruby red mane and stunning midnight blue coat. Iris was nearly mesmerized, but blinked and shook her head. She sipped her cider, licking her lips to keep the taste from disappearing.

"So what's your name?" she asked, stopping herself with the bottle before she said good-looking at the end.


"Hey there! Mind if I join you two?" said a voice coming from a dark blue unicorn.

Iris raised an eyebrow, two ponies in one sitting? That had to be a record, for her at least.

"Sure, you can sit with us, I guess." she replied, glancing at the unicorn who had come first, mentally asking her if it was alright with her.

Cherry shrugs, looking at the purple pegasus and slides over for the unicorn.

"I'm Dark Cherry, what's your guys names?"

"Sure, you can sit with us, I guess."

"I'm Dark Cherry, what're your guys' names?"

Gust sat down next to the mare nearest him, who he now knew was named Dark Cherry. After placing his two drinks on the surface of the table, the Unicorn popped the cap off of his first whiskey bottle and chugged down half of it, placing it down again and speaking once he had done so.

"My name's Thunder Gust, long for Gust." He nodded to the other mare. "And what about you?"

"I'm Iris, short for Iridescent." she stated smoothly, sipping her cider again. "So," she said, turning to Dark Cherry, "what brings you 'round here?"

Iris raised an eyebrow at Gust, looking him up and down, "and the same to you."

Cherry grins.

"Iris is a pretty name. I recently moved in and needed some good unwinding."

She takes a sip of Her Cherry Cider.

"I'm Iris, short for Iridescent. So, what brings you 'round here? And the same to you."

"Iris is a pretty name. I recently moved in and needed some good unwinding."

While the mare sitting next to him spoke, Gust chugged down another good portion of his first whiskey bottle, though this time at a slightly slower pace. The mare finished talking, and the stallion responded to Iris' question.

"I'm in Ponyville because I live here. I'm in the tavern because I love to drink. An' what about you?"

Iris grinned as she took another sip.

"I'm here, because I wanted a drink, and I live just around the corner. Perfect timing." she finished with a wink to Cherry.

She looked at Cherry, waiting for her response to the question.

Cherry grinned and blushed at Iris wink and took another sip, this time a bigger portion. She glances over at the stallion and raises an eyebrow.

"Hey Thunder, I don't think you're suppose to chug whiskey.. or drink two bottles worth."

She cracks up and giggles knowing Thunder was probably going to blackout at some point in the night.

"Hey Thunder, I don't think you're supposed to chug whiskey...or drink two bottles' worth."

Gust put down his first whiskey bottle, which was now empty. He placed it on the table's surface and took a moment to allow the mare to finish her giggling before responding with a grin.

"Yeh? An' why'z dat?"

Iris laughed and took a large swig from her drink.

"So Cherry, do you live around here? I've never seen you before, and I'm sure I would have remembered that meeting." she asked subtly, grinning as she took another sip.

Cherry nods, and looks at Iris, trying to read her face. She was unsure mare was hitting on her or just outgoing.

"I recently moved in, and haven't been out a lot. This is my first down time Ive had."

"So Cherry, do you live around here? I've never seen you before, and I'm sure I would have remembered that meeting."

Gust couldn't help but grin to himself as he popped the cap off of his second bottle. I wonder if she got the hint yet or not... The stallion opened his second bottle and took a sip from it, placing it down onto the surface of the table once again once he had done so. As always: chug the first, sip the second.

Iris glanced at Gust, wondering why he was drinking so much. She shrugged and downed the rest of her cider in one gulp.

"Excuse me for a second." she said as she stood up and ordered another drink, cider again. She returne to the table and slid smoothly into the booth. She raised the bottle to he lips and took a long drink. She set the drink onto the table.

"So Cherry," she winked again, "Gust, what do you do aroun here?"

Cherry blushes and looks away until deciding to meet her eyes. She puts on a strong demeanor and locks eyes with Iris, giving her a grin.

"I don't have a job, yet. I just graduated in College learning business before I moved here. If all goes well I may take over my family's Cherry business."

"So, Cherry, Gust, what do you do around here?"

Iris winked once again at Cherry when she spoke her name, and the mare next to him had to turn away for a second before responding, blushing quite a lot. Gust himself thought that her reaction was pretty cute, but his thoughts didn't come close to matching those of Iris'. With a grin, Cherry responded to the other pony's question.

"I don't have a job, yet. I just graduated in College learning business before I moved here. If all goes well I may take over my family's Cherry business."

"Good tu hear. Hope'lly that all goes well for you. An' I myself am a DJ and music producer. Stage name DJ Rainbass. An' how 'bout you, Iris?"

Iris took another sip of cider before responding.

"Well, that's nice Cherry, you're a DJ Gust? That's interesting." she said, noting his slurred and badly pronounced words, "I think you may have had enough to drink." she added to Gust.

"As for what I do, I do shows of a sort. I fly, much like the Wonderbolts, only I fly solo." she explained, wooshing her hoof into the air, pretending it was a flying pony, "You should come see one of my shows," she said to Cherry, grinning a half-smile, "I also work up at the cloud factory sometimes."

She took a rather long drink from her cider and slammed it on the table. "Empty already." she sighed, somewhat disappointed.

Cherry grins and nods.

"I love seeing flying shows, I personally always wanted to fly but.. ya know."

She taps her horn and finishes her drink.

"Empty already."

"I can buy another one if you want? It'll be free."

She smiles at Iris.

"Well that's nice, Cherry, you're a DJ, Gust? That's interesting... I think you may have had enough to drink."

Gust put down his bottle as he ended another sip, and responded with a grin. "Wut, me? Nah. Hav'n don 'nythin' stupid yet, an' tha's halve the point."

"As for what I do, I do shows of a sort. I fly, much like the Wonderbolts, only I fly solo. You should come see one of my shows. I also work up at the cloud factory sometimes."

Iris slammed her glass onto the table, sighing with disappointment while doing so. "Empty already."

Gust's grin grew a bit wider when she said this. He was about to say something about her earlier comment on how he might be drinking too much, but thought better of it. The Unicorn still found it funny that she was headed down the same path as him, though.

"I can buy another one if you want. It'll be free."

Iris glanced at the already-drunk Gust, and raised an eyebrow. Turning to Cherry, she said "nah, I can get myself another one, and one for yourself." she finished with a sly smile.

She stood in one fluid motion and walked to the counter, ordering a bottle of whiskey and three shot glasses. She returned to the table, pouring the three ponies a shot glass full of whiskey. She tossed the liquid down her throat and put even more alcohol in it. Before drinking, she said "a toast, to Gust and," yet another wink, "to Cherry." Then she drank her shot.

Cherry couldn't help laughing at Gust's attempts at speech.

"Hey, ya migh' be abl' to fin' a spell to do hat...that...somewhere. Dat'd be fun."

Cherry thought for a second.

"I think those are butterfly wings or something..."

She grabs one of the shot glasses and winks at Iris.

"Cheers."

She downs the shot and sets it down, feeling the whiskey warm her body. Blushing she looks up at Iris.

"So.. you got a special pony?"

"I think those are butterfly wings or something..."

Gust shrugged. "Di'n't say ah was 'n expert at magek."

At that moment, Iris stood up from her seat, walking over to the bar counter once she had done so. The mare came back a few moments later with three shot glasses and bottle of whiskey that differentiated from his own. She placed the small glasses onto the surface of the table and filled each one with the liquid that she had brought along. The pony then sat down, and, after gulping down an initial shot, lifted up her second glass and spoke.

"A toast, to Gust, and to Cherry."

The mare gulped down her whiskey, and Cherry followed suit ((or is it suite?)). Gust swallowed his own with the two mares as well. This whiskey was slightly less potent than that which he had been drinking earlier, but that was fine. It was the sentiments that mattered, rather than alcohol contained in the drink.

"So.. you got a special pony?"

Gust grinned to himself. There we go. Return the favor. The stallion took another sip of his own whiskey, leaning back comfortably in his chair thing.

Iris smirked and leaned back in her chair finally, the mare is catching on

Still smirking, she replied with "As it so happens, I do not. Why do you ask?"

She stared at Cherry curiously, but looked away before it got creepy.
Iris flipped her man out of her face before chugging another shot.
