Subject: Running jumping and bouncing like a champ Thu May 30, 2013 6:01 am

Sugar Rush was performing, doing whatever the other ponies told her to do on stage for bits. A pegasus challenged her to bring a scarf no matter where she was to put it. "What that's it huh?, you don't know who you're talking to do you?," she said with a confident grin.

The pegasus grinned and put the scarf on the clock of ponyville tower, "You just try and get it." the pegasus said with a sheepish look, "nice choice, take a look at this." she smiled before she started to climb the tower.

The pegasus's jaw dropped as Sugar reached the scarf in only a few minutes, Sugar waved the scarf in the air victoriously before she jumped of the tower and dived into a rather large pile of leaves, (shameless AC referens) "Here you go sweetie, and I think I've earned a reward?." she teased the pegasus who happily payed Sugar for her performance.

After the show she bought a muffin and relaxed on a nearby bench.

Ember was in a good mood. Then again, when wasn't she? Whistling a cheery tune to herself as she trotted down the street at a brisk pace, she literally radiated happiness, and nothing could dampen her spirits. Some of the ponies she passed gave her weird stares, while others shot her a smile. Of course, those who were nice to her deserved friendliness in return, and so Ember didn't hesitate in the slightest to beam right back at them.

She bounced towards the park. pausing at the entrance only to buy a fresh, shiny apple that she took one humongous bite out of before continuing on her way. She munched in time to her hoof steps, the crunching sound taking a rhythm as she walked along. Glancing about, she spotted a white mare sitting on a bench eating a muffin, and decided to go over and say hi. "Hey there! My name's Apricot Ember, but you can Just call me Ember! What's yours?" she asked, grinning widely as her white teeth glittered in the sun.

"I'm Sugar Rush but you can just call me Sugar." she said with a big smile before continuing "I've haven't seen you in town before, are you new?." she asked as she offered a hoofshake.

Ember smiled shaking the hoof vigorously. "Sugar... Sugar Rush..." she said, testing out the name and how it rolled off her tongue. "I like it!" she promptly declared, grinning again and taking another bite of her apple.

"Oh, I'm anyfing but new." she mumbled, the words deforming in her mouth and coming out a little garbled due to the food that was currently being chewed. Swallowing with a gulp, Ember sat down next to Sugar, pony tail bouncing. "So, what do you do for a living? Make sugar cubes or something?" she asked, motioning to Sugar's cutie mark.

"No I sadly don't work with those wonderful delicious tasty, and yummy sugar cubes," her eyes sparkled as she said the last part, then she shaked her head to snap out of her sugar related daydream, and continued,

"Anyhoof i'm a street performer , I usually dance, and balance objects on my nose, though I do take requests from the crowd," she smirked a bit and continued,

"Actually just a few minutes ago I climbed ponyville tower all the way up to the clock and brought a scarf back down," she chuckled, " you see this pegasus thought she had me, she dared me to get the scarf no matter where she were to put it, I said sure do your worst and she put the scarf on the tower's clock, little did she know i'm an awesome acrobatic master at this kind of stuff, so I climbed the tower in no time, you should have seen her face." she said before eating the rest of her sugary muffin.

Ember giggled at the dazed look that Sugar had on her face. It was funny, really, but judging from her name and her star struck look, Ember assumed that she had a soft spot for anything. high in the sugary substance. She could relater.

"Anyhoof I'm a street performer ... the crowd."

She smiled wide at this. "A street performer? Neat-o! So am I actually." she said, gesturing to her horn. "Obviously, not in the same sense as you."

"Actually just a few minutes ago ... you should have seen her face."

Ember's eyes widened as the story progressed, til they were roughly the size of saucers. "Wow! That's absolutely amazing!" she exclaimed, waving her hooves around with vigor as she spoke. Suddenly, her ears drooped, and her face became crestfallen. "I wish I could do stuff as cool as that. All I can do is some rubbish stuff."

how come I have never seen you before?. she asked with wide eyes.

"Wow! That's absolutely amazing!" Ember exclaimed "Ah that's nothing I do that kind of stuff all the time." Sugar said before she saw that Embers expression had changed. "I wish I could do stuff as cool as that. All I can do is some rubbish stuff." she said in a sad tone, before Sugar gave her a light pat on the shoulder, and said, Aw don't be like that i'm sure whatever you do in your shows is just as if not more amazing."Then she got an idea and smiled, "And it's not even that hard to learn the basics, I could teach you how to climb on top of that building in no time!." she said with joy, thinking about how cool it would be to have someone to run and climb with.

Ember's face became even sadder, and her whole body seemed to slump noticeably. "Wow. Lucky." she murmured, tapping a hoof on the chair awkwardly. Feeling a light pat on her shoulder, Ember smiled a little bit. "Nah, It's ok."

"Aw don't be like that ... that building in no time!"

She looked up, staring straight into Sugar's eyes. "Really..? You think I'd be able to do it?" she asked, the beginnings of a smile forming on her lips. "Well, my mum did always say I had a good sense of balance..." she mumbled thoughtfully, placing a hoof to her chin for only a brief second before she made up her mind. Her ears sprang right back up and the smile turned into a full-blown grin as she leaped off the chair and landed in front of Sugar. "Well? What are we waiting for? Let's go!"

"Not so fast sweetie, let's see what you can do first though." Sugar and put a hoof on her chin while thinking about were to start ,before jumping up and down with a (in her mind) great idea."I know you can start by trying to climb to the top of that tree over there!." she said as her hoof pointed to an average tree.

Ember grinned, this sounding like a challenge to her. And she never backed down from challenges. Rubbing her hooves, she glanced over to where Sugar was pointing, a pine meeting her eyes. Nodding, she judged the height of the tree. She'd always wanted to try climbing trees, but her fear of heights stopped her. Maybe it was time to confront that fear. Bouncing over, she looked up at the first branch, leaping and missing. "Darn it!" Leaping again, her hooves brushed the branch, and she grappled at it before hauling herself up. The first branch was always the hardest. From there, the branches were much closer, and she swung from branch to branch slowly but steadily when she reached the top. "High enough?!' she asked, swinging precariously as the wind blew the top. Gulping, Ember made the mistake of looking down, and she froze up in terror.

"That's pretty good for a newbie!," she then saw how scared she was and decided to give her a break. "Erm can you get down from there?, or do you need help?." she said with a slightly worried look.

Ember swallowed, the heartbeat pounding in her ears blocking out any outside noises. The world spun below her, and she closed her eyes tightly, beginning to shuffle back the way she had come. Her hoof slipped off the branch, and she almost screamed as she lost her grip for a couple of seconds but clambered back up, lowering herself down and down until there wasn't another branch below her. Taking a deep breath, Ember launched herself off and landed on all fours, legs wobbling a little before she flopped onto the ground with a sigh of relief.

"Afraid of heights are ya?." she said trying not to laugh before she continued, "Don't worry I won't judge, I don't like to admit it but I have some fears too." she said before she giggled a bit. "Though heights aren't one of them as you might have guessed." she said before trying to think of something else they could try.

"You don't happen to know how to do a back flip do you?." she said before doing a back flip like it was nothing.

"Yea, evidently." Ember stuttered, a weak smile forming her face. It was mainly the shock of it actually. Once she'd had all four hooves on the ground again, it didn't seem so bad. Standing up, she brushed off her hooves and faced Sugar again.

"Don't worry I won't judge ... as you might have guessed."

She smiled. "Thanks. But I'm working hard on getting over it." she said, her mind focused on trying to figure out what the seemingly fearless Sugar could be scared of. "What are you scared of?" she asked, head cocked as she waited for an answer.

"You don't happen to know how to do a back flip do you?"

Ember sighed, and shook her head. "No. No-one ever taught me, and I'm kind of scared to try." she laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly with a hoof.

"What are you scared of?" she sighed in defeat."I'm afraid of....spiders." she said with her head down before she jumped up again.

"But anyhoof back to back flips. it's easy enough you tend to nail it after the first fifty times trying it. after that it's easy!." she said while bouncing around in circles.

"Of course it might hurt a little when you fail a back flip but that's part of the fun!." she said with a big grin.

Spiders? Ember had not expected that. "But... Spiders are cute with their cute, widdle beady eyes and their furry eight legs!" she chirruped, bouncing up and down on the spot.

"But anyhoof back to back flips ... After that it's easy!"

Ember laughed. "After the first fifty times, sure." she said, mentally remembering how all the fillies at her school had back flipped and performed somersaults and such with ease. She'd always envied them. Always.

"Of course ... part of the fun!"

Ember smiled. "Guess so." she grinned, rubbing her hooves. The more Sugar talked, the more confident she felt. "So, how does one go about this Backflip?"

"But... Spiders are cute...." Sugar shivered at the thought of her worst fear. "Eew don't describe those ... "cute" things." she said doing air quotes at the "cute" part before returning to the subject of back flips.

"Well it's easy enough to do a back flip, just take a really good look at what I'm doing." she said as she prepared for a back flip, and did it again with no sweat.

"Now you try it." she said with a big smile.

Ember nodded, eyes focused on Sugar's every move as she fluently bent her body backwards, planting her hooves on the ground before her back legs reached the Earth, "Woah..." she breathed, in awe at the skill and grace that Sugar had.

"Now you try it."

Swallowing audibly, Ember tried to copy Sugar and failed miserably, landing hard on the floor before bursting into laughter at her own mediocrity. "Oh my Celestia that was terrible!" she laughed, before hauling herself up for a second try. The second attempt went much like the first. "Well, third time lucky!" Ember chirped, her spirits not dampened in the slightest. This time, she actually managed to perform a backflip. It was a bit dodgy, and she started to sway at the end, but at least she landed on all four hooves (albeit a little wobbly). "WOO! I did it!" she cheered, bouncing in circles around Sugar.

"YES YOU DID IT!, THAT WAS GREAT!." Sugar exclaimed before proceeding to do a triple front flip in celebration, before hugging Ember.

"You see?, you can totally do some cool stuff!," she said with a big smile (as usual) before continuing, "I wonder what else we can do?," she sat down with a hoof on her chin wailing her arms like a mad pony, "I KNOW!, you can try to balance objects on you head," she said with wide eyes looking at Ember.

Ember flushed a little, shaking her head. "Oh, no it wasn't. Not compared to what you can do." she said, dismissing the topic with a wave of her hoof. She didn't like to dwell on her accomplishments, since she knew there was always some pony better then her and she should respect that.

"I wonder what else we can do? I KNOW! You can try to balance objects on your head."

Ember frowned. "I've seen people do that, but... Oh well, what have I got to lose?" she asked, shrugging and grinning. "What should I balance first?" she asked, looking around to see if there was anything nearby she could use to try.

Ember squeaked in surprise and dived out of the way, hooves over her head. "NOOO! MY PRECIOUS BRAIN!" she laughed, rolling about with her hooves flailing in the air. "I'm going to DIE because you're SO heavy!" she moaned, her words interspersed with laughter.

Sugar laughed at Ember's reaction. "No I'm not, I have had plenty of ponies on my head before." she said with a big smile "Maybe we should start with you balancing on my head!." she said as she rushed over to Ember, and got ready for her to stand on her head.

Ember froze mid-roll, hooves still in the air. "Wait, what? Me, stand on your head?" she asked, confused. "Wouldn't that hurt?" she could even begin to imagine what it would be like to have another pony's hooves all over your face while you had to support them. Sitting up, she furrowed her brows, honestly confused. "Shouldn't I stand on your shoulders? Not your head?" she asked, recalling all the times she had seen circus acrobats do amazing balancing acts.

Sugar sighed "OK fine just my shoulders." she said disappointed at Ember's lack of faith in Sugar before she got in a ever so slightly different pose.
