A Night of Disaster

Icarus Had a habit of looking out his window At night. It helped him see what was going on outside, and it helped him look at the night sky. He loved the night Sky. It made him calm.

But, Something else Piqued is interest tonight. Shala, and Indigo. And, he couldn't be sure in the night, but he thought he saw a bruise or two on both of them.

So, As he learned to do in Manehattan, he snuck outside, and followed the two as well and as quiet as he could.

Soon enough, They went to Shala's house, and Shala went inside, and indigo walked off.

And, that brought Icarus to now. Hoof slightly hovering, stopping him from knocking.

He sighed, and knocked anyway.

"S-Shala? Y-You home?" He asked, Cursing himself for asking an obvious question.

"No!" Came Shala's response. She dragged out a bottle from her cabinet with her mouth and laid on the floor in place to pluck out the cork. A look through the door window would easily show that Shala had a few tears streaming down her face as she began to drink the sweet evil nectar that was contained in the bottle.

A look through the Door Window Iccy did Indeed steal, and another knock came right out. "T-That no w-was answer e-enough. P-Please, l-let me c-come in a-and we'll t-talk...? O-Otherwise, I-I'll s-sit r-right here until y-you d-do." He said, sitting on the porch into still cold Snow.

Shala made no attempt to get up. She chugged a bit more of her liquor before taking a breath to drink even more. After doing this a few times, she replied.

"Go away! I want to be left alone!" She scooted around so that he could not see her black eyed face or some of the cuts and bruises she had.

"A-And T-That's e-exactly W-Why I c-can't." Icarus replied sternly, standing firm. "B-Because y-you're m-my friend, Y-You're h-hurt, A-And c-Chugging a-alcohol l-like t-there's n-no t-tomorrow." He finished, Shivering a bit from the snow.

"Im fixing it with alcohol!" She yelled back. It may as well have been a conversation over a large field with how they were shouting to each other, or at least how she was.

Only halfway through the first bottle. She began to work on finishing it. A faint though occurred to her that she forgot to lock the door on the way in with her thirst for alcohol.

"N-No, Y-You're j-just p-patching it w-with Alcohol." Icarus sighed and leaned against the door, not expecting to fall through it.

Which he did.

And provided his first true good look at Shala. "... S-Shala..."

Shala cringed at seeing Iccy lay eyes on her. She quickly turned away and grabbed her bottle. A few tears threatened to well up in her eyes.

"Iccy...Just leave me alone...Don't come back....." She tried to say sternly, but her voice was squeaking with her emotions on the verge of breaking through. There was so much going on in her head. There was no place she could start if she wanted to. And a fear hung in her. What if she snapped at Iccy too? What if she hurt him? The thoughts only made her start working on her bottle even more.

Icarus wordly stood up. But, instead of heading out the door like Shala wanted, He went over and hugged Shala. Whispering quietly, "I-I refuse t-to leave you a-alone."

Shala felt her anger start to rise up. She wanted to scream at him, tell him to get out of here and out of her life. But when she turned her head to him and saw Icarus, and felt his hug around her, it all came undone.

She sank her head into his shoulder, sobbing out and grabbing Icarus in a near death grip of a hug in return. Again, she had come to cry on Iccy's shoulder, but this time it was more serious than last time. A lot more. Every bit of energy she had was being put into this cry.

Icarus stayed quiet and yet again just let Shala Cry, leaning his head ontop of hers, Just being there For her. Just being a friend.

If Iccy kept quiet and stayed there for her, he would find himself there for a very long time. Nearly an hour would go by before she felt tired and worn out enough from all her sobbing to lightly snore into Iccy's shoulder.

It would only be a short nap for her. Just enough to get her energy and mind back in check.

Iccy smiled softly as Shala started snoring. he gently levitated her to the couch, and curled up nearby, a little tired himself. Alas, he didn't sleep, but he did put a hoof on Shala's.

Shala woke up soon enough. She was slow to open her eyes, first just by squeaking as she stretched her back out. Her eyes opened to see what was on her hoof.

The sight of Iccy made her smile for a moment, but the memories of what happen came back with them. Her smile was quickly a frown that stared off at the floor.

"....Iccy..." She said weakly in acknowledgement. Her stare looked at the floor like a void. not even a hint of emotion showed, yet there was so much of it hidden in there.

Iccy smiled when Shala woke up, but his smile faltered When she frowned and looked back at the floor. "H-Hey S-Shala... S-Sorry f-for not l-listening t-to you..." He said apologetically. "B-But I c-can't l-leave m-my f-friends. Y-You're a-all I got."

Shala kept staring at the ground, keeping a plain face that had given up on caring anymore. One of her hooves dangled from the couch, swinging lazily.

"...I think I'm going to leave Ponyville..."

Icarus Stared blankly. "L-Leave...?" He asked softly, Quietly, Almost unbelieveing.

Shala winced, Iccy's response hitting her harder than she thought. Still, she held fast.

"I...screwed up Iccy. I can't live here. I'm not meant for this. I'm...dangerous." She started to choke on her words. A bite to her lip helped fight back her watering eyes. A few breaths got her to calm down and back to her blank stare.

Iccy's eyes widened, and started watering. "Y-You c-can't g-go... I-I... I-I d-don't... I-I c-can't... N-Not... N-No... N-No, no, n-no..." he sat back, tears starting to fall. He kept repeating no, though it was barley audible.

Shala looked up to Iccy. His reaction was much stronger than she imagined. Now she felt like terrible for telling him. Tears of her own soon followed.

How much more terrible of an impact can i leave? I can't go anywhere without causing somepony some grief.

"Iccy. Please...I'm sorry. Please don't cry. It's better this way. I'm no help here."

Icarus shook his head. "N-No, I-I-It's -hic- N-Not. I-It's n-not b-better a-and you k-know it." He half-lashed out, sniffling. "Y-You t-think t-that if -hic- Y-You go, y-you c-can j-just l-leave e-everything b-behind. I-I... -hic- I-I C-Can't l-let y-you g-go..." He looked at the floor, and gave out a quiet sob. "I-I'd r-raise t-the s-sun f-for you t-to s-stay..."

Shala knew Iccy was a good friend, but she never knew he was so attached to her as a friend. He was trying so hard for her. It was breaking her heart. Tears started to roll down her cheek.

"Iccy...Please...I can't make it work here. Everyone in Ponyville won't look at me the same after..." She winced and bit her lip. "...After i attacked Indigo at the bar."

Icarus blinked a little, but shook his head. "H-He d-didn't s-seem t-to h-have t-that m-much of a p-problem w-with it." He said simply, remembering how Indigo walked her home. "T-There h-h-hic-has t-to be a w-way f-for you t-to s-stay."

Shala kept shaking her head, the tears rolling but no sobs comming out. "No...Most the bar was torn up on the inside, and all the liquor was about destroyed. I am definently fired, if not charged with destruction of property. Possibly charged with being drunk and assaulting another pony. Who would care to have a pony like that in town?...Would Intel even care..."

She put her face down on the couch, letting it wipe away her tears. "I'm a mess Iccy. Every time you come here, all i have for you is pain and tears. I have too many problems."

Icarus Shook his head. "I-I c-could -hic- G-Give you a j-job! A-And... A-And W-We c-can t-talk o-out t-th... T-Talk it o-out w-with I-Indigo! a-And... A-And I c-can Pay f-for the B-Bar! I-I m-mean..." Icarus knew he was grasping at straws by this moment, but he wouldn't, Nay, couldn't Let Shala go.

"L-Let m-me h-help w-with y-your p-problems."
