The Pasts Frozen Heart

Hi everypony now as this is a retry at an old RP i did a month or so back involving my oc Crystal Belle and her wintery curse that sadly died before its time, but I think it had potential to become something really fun so I decided to give it another shot.

The first Blizzard of the year was always unpredictable,sometimes it was gentle and calm at lest as far as blizzards go to harsh and unforgiving. This year's was of the unforgiving sort something no pony had seen in decades, the kind of storm that would easily kill you from the cold, the kind that would make you scramble for any sort of shelter you could find.

This kind of blizzard was very unnatural and only could be made with a amount of dark magic not many possessed in this day and age and this was the kind of blizzard that Crystal Belle was flying in right at this very moment.

Well flying wasn't really the word for it...More like being tossed and whipped around like a toy being fought over by two foals

The storm wasn't supposed to be this harsh no not even close of this Crystal knew and yet here she was struggling to right herself in the monstrous winds her muscles in her wings and her back screamed for her to stop and let them rest something that hadn't happened since her first winter storm.

But she refused for she knew if she stopped now she would surely die if she fell from this height so she pressed on even as her feathers were being bent and broken by the wind she searched.Her eyes searching for a light or any sign of shelter and just when she was about to give up her wings buckling and hr just about to accept her fate she saw it a light so dim and small she could of missed it but to her it was a welcome sight like Celestia's sun it self was guiding her to safety.

So deciding to give one last try putting her very life on the line as she put the last of her strength in her wings and pushed forward each trust bringing her closer to safety finally she hit the ground her hooves buckling threatening to give out.

They almost did but still she pressed on step by step she took until she reach the door of what looked to be an inn of sorts. With a shaking hoof and a grunt she pushed at the door, before the winds took the task off her hooves making it slam open with a loud bang bathing her in the warm light and revealing the damage the storm had done.

Her make and coat was covered in frost and ice crystals were snow had melted and then refrozen her wings hung at her sides as she was unable to life them,having been pushed past her limits for the first time in years and even now broken and lose feathers fell like snow littered the ground as she walked in and closed the door with a bit of struggle.

Switchblade was relaxing in the inn, a large winter cloak over him and a steaming hot drink in front of him 'how can it be this cold?' he thought to himself.

He then heard the door open and he turned to see who it was, the mare he saw looked more like a snowmare, quickly he got off his stool and took his cloak off and offered it to her "You look like you need it more than I do."

Blown Speaker, who was upstairs at the time, came down the stairs.

 "Somepony here?" He asked as he made his way down.

Crystal warped herself into the cloak already feeling herself start to defrost. "T-Thank y-you" She stutters through chattering teeth before walking over to a table near a roaring fire. But as the cold subsided the pain took over. Every muscle from the tip of her wings to the tip of her tail all screamed out all at once that almost made her collapse once again. After a moment or two she looked around and noticed only a pony or two was in the building besides herself, strange giving the weather outside. "W-Where is everypony?" She asked still shivering somewhat.

Leaf Gardens had been sleeping soundly in her room. it had seemed like a good time to doze off - it was a tranquil, snowy day, and not much noise was being made downstairs.

Until the blizzard came. She had left her windows open for ventilation, and the sheer cold jerked her awake. Rubbing her eyes, she dragged herself out of bed and shut her windows. Along with locking them tightly. And grumbling vulgarities at it. Satisfied that the wind wouldn't force them open, she walked downstairs for some hot chocolate or a small snack. As soon as she reached the bottom, she looked around, eyes immediately landing on a pegasus by the fire. At first she wondered what her mind found so significant about that one pony, but she quickly guessed - either her very subtle shivering, the snow in her wings, or the feathers the same colour of her wings littering the ground near the door.

Realising she had been standing there staring at the pegasus for several minutes, Leafy got herself a bowl of hot soup and sat down nearby, though she couldn't help but stare at the mare.

Switchblade nodded "We all need to band together in weather like this, I have warmed up so I gave you my cloak, as to the location of others; I have no idea, hopefully inside a different building and not outside."

Speaker, noting that he wasn't heard, decided to go check on the kitchen, making sure that dinner would be on time, before heading back out to the common room.

((Whelp, about 2 months of not posting here has messed up my post-order-sense. I'm not sure whether it's Sweet Dream's turn to post or mine, but the last post was 3 days ago, so...))

Leaf Gardens watched the three other ponies, wondering if it would be a good idea to begin a conversation to break the silence, or just to distract herself from the blizzard. None of them seemed to particularly dislike the rest, but her naturally introverted nature wanted to stay where she was, silently enjoying her holiday.

Unfortunately, that was out of the question. It wasn't a terrible inn, no, but with a raging snowstorm outside, what could she do? Most of her stay had been built upon going outdoors, enjoying winter or otherwise not staying in the building for hours. Socialising wasn't exactly her favourite activity, far from it... But it could pass the time much quicker than slowly drinking soup.

"Terrible weather we're having."

She spoke loudly for once, most likely being heard by the ponies in the room. She couldn't think of any other subject matter, and the weather was something ponies brought up often, right? Indeed, considering one of her original intentions was to not think of it, that did sound incredibly foolish. But what was said, was said. No going back.

Crystal smiled a bit, it was terrible weather indeed so she turned and with a small smile she turned towards the mare her purple eyes bright even though looked like she could collapse at any moment." It really is,its kind of strange because it wasn't supposed to even be a blizzard tonight.." This was true in fact not a single blizzard for the next two weeks for what she could recall.

Suddenly something clicked and she scrambles out of her saddle bags emptying them out to make sure she hadn't lost anything. Large chunks of gems and crystal fell out along with a small bag of bits. Scanning over then sighing seeing everything was there, these small shiny rocks were her life blood they help put food in her tiny pony tummy and gave her a warm place to sleep.

She swiped them back into her bags and moved over towards the others deciding to introduce herself "Hi my names Crystal Belle its nice to meet you" She says with a gentle smile but inside she was nervous from being in a group even if it was just a few ponies...it didn't help two were unicorns. Now crystal had no problems with unicorns it was magic they could use, she had a paralyzing fear of magic.


Now outside still a distat away stood a creature made of what looked to be an ashy tar like substance something you could only think of in hellish nightmares. It narrows its eyes giving off a deep growl as it slowly makes its ways towards the lights of the inn, its hoofprints burned and killed small patched of earth tainting them.

Flutters is back, I guess. Haven't done thread rp in a long time, or used this character, but I'll do my best! Expect longer posts from me when I get re-adjusted~<3

Silent Song had been in her room, and while she wanted to investigate the sound of the door earlier, she had decided against it and instead remained, listening to the voices downstairs. She couldn't really make out what they were saying, but she took comfort in knowing she wasn't the only pony in the building. After all, who would want to be alone in the middle of a blizzard? Not her, that's for sure.

Having now become bored of listening to mumbles, she cracked her door, checking the hall, then ambled quietly to the top of the stairs and sat, content that she could listen to the conversation without having to actually talk. Talking was not her strong suit, as it had always been a bit difficult to get the words out of her muzzle in a way that didn't embarass her. For now she'd just listen and wait... And hope nobody spotted her and thought her a creep...

Switchblade looked at the gems "Wow, you have a real eye for quality and beauty alike, Ms Belle." he said in awe "My name is Switchblade, that simple; no last name, just Switchblade." he turned around, seeing a mare watching them "Hey, don't be shy; only the frost bites." he joked.

Speaker approached the group, taking note of the mare at the top of the stairs.

"I am sorry to interrupt but I thought that you would like to know dinner is almost ready," Speaker said, before turning to Belle, " and I don't think I have seen you here before, I'm guessing you walked in from that blizzard, I can get you a room after dinner if you would like?"

"That's great," Leafy said, turning her head towards the purple-coated stallion. She had been too busy watching the mare to notice the others. If a stranger appeared out of nowhere with a bag of valuable gems, anyone would be surprised. "Where'd you get all these?" she asked in curiosity, now looking at the stones laid out on the table. She considered picking one up to examine it - never had she seen such a large collection of jewels - but held back, in case Belle was sensitive about them. Instead she contiued drinking her soup.

Mission failed, Song had been spotted. Obviously she should have stayed further from the ledge. Immediately she found herself at a loss for words, her mind fumbling to find any kind of reply for the comment about frost. Making it the rest of the way down the stairs, she approached the others with cation, sitting still a bit out of the way. "I-I know that... Just wanted to listen is all..." She said, making an attempt at an amiable smile, but not doing too great of a job. Maybe they'd forget she was there and she could just listen from here instead? It still beat being upstairs alone, right?

As for the questions of gems, Song hadn't been down here to see them. So, when the topic was brought up, she too turned her attention to the pony in question. Maybe this'd be a good story to pass time? Or maybe it'd just scare them... Either way, it'd be a way to forget they're trapped here for now.

Crystal blinks before she chuckled softly "Oh I've just left the Crystal empire, tons of crystal and gems there. They sell them cheaper witch is good for me. I'm a carver gems and crystal is my specialty but i can carver anything from wood to ice..." She says polling out a carving of an alicorn male its body a frosted blue but the horn and wings clear as glass. Its mane and tail an almost white color was jagged as if blown back and frozen in place.

"Its a hard talent to have if you're not a unicorn, to make carvings from hard gems and crystal takes pinpoint focus and its almost impossible to carve with ones hooves but luckily I'm one of those ponies." She says as she pulls out a ruby one that seems to be misshaped and using her hoof she cut a shaving off as thin as paper off like cutting a hot knife though butter.

"Incredible." Switchblade noted the skill required in that kind of craft, preferring to hoof make his items instead of using magic. "Thanks for the heads up." Switchblade said to Speaker before turning to Song again and putting his hoof out "My name's Switchblade, may I be graced by yours?" he asked politely with a touch of elegance in his tone.

"Quite beautiful stones you have there miss, I don't think I know your name miss." Speaker said to Belle, while looking at her gems.

"The Crystal Empire? That's neat, I've never visited it before." Its cold climate was nothing she was used to, and when Leafy did travel it was to warmer locations... this one, of course, being an exception. Still, she hoped to experience the city in future. The crystal ponies were, she read, a sight to marvel at.

She watched silently as the rest introduced themselves. She was no social butterfly, and since everypony was already engaged in conversation, thought not to speak until somepony asked something, or at least when everyone finished chattering. After all, what was the use of speaking when nopony wanted to listen? There was none, she thought as she finished up her soup.

Crystal turns to Blown with a smile "Its crystal belle and thank you I try to find the best I can" She turns to Leaf "Its a beautiful,and I think every pony should go at lest once in their life." Meanwhile outside the creature had reached the inn peering in silently and its mouth turns into a cruel grin before it starts looking for a way in until it started to ram the door with each hit it chipped at the door dissolving it slowly.

Switchblade was looking out the windows when he saw the creature approach, when it started hitting the door, Switchblade sprinted to the door, drawing his sword and bracing himself against the door "Everypony get back!" he yelled through the thudding.

Speaker, not knowing what was behind the door, ran into the back room, where he kept a item to increase his magic in case the inn was ever attacked.

Leaf Gardens, seeing as she was already seated far from the door, stayed where she was, eyeing the window. She wished she could aid in fending the monster off, but she knew without any weapons (excluding her natural strength, but since she was a gardener she didn't train it) she would be useless in a fight. She had never trained in much having to do with physical battle... Excluding maybe biology, which could be used to tell the weak spots of a monster, but she didn't recognise the creature outside.

((Fun fact: Leafy is a skilled archer [somewhat, she's never done moving targets before]))

Crystal charged forwards knocking Switchblade over and tumbling into a nearby wall crystal hit it first feeling pressure on one of her wings fallowed by a sharp pain. She gave a small whimper of pain as the creature bursts through the door bits of tar and rotting door flew all over the room. Now in such a small place the smell of this evil creature was strong it smelled of death and decay. There was a strong feeling in the room that you wouldn't want to touch this creature.

Looking around the room the creature took in every forum its black eye sockets glowed red once they land on Crystal moving forwards its mouth opening wide showing nothing but a dark nothingness. With each step it took its body sifts and bubbles globs of tar falling from it causing bits of the floor to decay.

Switchblade looked at the creature and time slowed to him as he analysed it 'creature made of darkness and death, darkness is linked to isolation and death to cold, an object that is warm and inviting and signifies life is... Fire!' he realised, hoping his hunch might slow the creature down, he used his magic to pick up a flaming branch and brandish it at the creature 'please work.' he thought.

Speaker, having attached the device, ran back out into the main room, only to see the hideousness of the creature, he could fire a magic blast at it, but one pony was too close, trying to fight it with a flaming branch.
