Jet's Hope (1x1)

"A-Apples? What's an apple?" Jetstream asked, tilting his head and squirming out of the blanket.

"You.. never saw an apple before?" She asked .. picking him up with the blanket and placing him on her arms.
She took an apple out of her saddlebag, cut it in half and handed it to him
"Try it, Its delicious"

Jetstream stared at the red fruit, cautiously sniffing it before taking a small bite, his eyes glistened a little and he squeaked in surprise. "Y-yummy!"

Tenebris smiled while feeding him with the apple
"I knew you would like it" she giggled

Jetstream continued taking slightly larger bites of the apple and before long, only the core was left. "That was tasty." He squeaked, clapping his little hooves together.""Can I have another, mommy?

"Sure, little sugarcube" she said while taking out another apple and feeding it to him
"Mommy? she asked "I am not your real mother .. but you can call me mommy if you want"

"Aren't you like my mommy now?" He asked with what was likely the first smile he had since his birth. "I want to call you mommy.." he said softly as he ate the second apple.

I love you, my little sweetie" she said, giving him a nuzzle while he is still laying in her arms

Jetstream nuzzled her back softly, closing his eyes. "I love you too mommy."

Tenebris yawned "Hey.. are you tired too? It was a pretty busy day"

"I'm a little sleepy.." He squeaked, looking towards the bed and yawning softly. "Sleepy...." he cooed as he already began to doze off.

Tenebris only had one bed yet, so she lay him down, wrapping him in a pair of blankets to keep him warm. She lays down next to him after giving him a small kiss on the forehead "Good night sweetie" she said, closing her eyes

Jetstream cooed softly and huddled into the blankets. "Good night, mommy..." He whispered softly and drifted off into sleep.

Jet got older and it was time for his first day at school
"Ready for your first day?" Tenebris said, smiling at him

Jet smiled widely, excited and a little bit nervous. "Y-yeah.. But I'm kinda nervous too..." He said in a soft voice, looking on the verge of tears yet again.

"Dont worry sweetie, Im sure you'll make lots of friends" she said, handing him his school bag

Jet smiled and put on his school bag, before trotting off to the school. "S-see you later mom!" He called back before he entered the small schoolhouse.

"Have fun, sweetie!" she called back before walking back home

Jet entered the schoolhouse, sitting down at a desk in the back row. A brown colt looked at him and snickered mischievously, sneaking over and pulling the chair out from under him. "Ah!" Jet squeaked as he fell from where the chair was, hitting he floor.

"Hah! Little baby have a fall?!" The colt jeered, before returning to his seat just as the teacher stepped in.

Tenebris trotted home, not expecting anyone else as she spotted an old friend waiting at her door
"Hey Vengeance!.. gosh its been years!"
"Greetings Tenebris..I was around here so I thought Id go look for you"
"Oh my we have so much to talk about.. come inside! Ill make some tea"

Jetstream sniffled softly and climbed back onto the chair as the teacher began to speak.

"Good morning everypony! Welcome to your first day of school." The fluffy earth pony mare said. "My name is Blue Aster, but you all can call me Ms. Aster." She said with a smile. "So, we will begin with names, everypony, come up one by one and introduce yourselves to the rest of the class."

As the young ponies in the class introduced themselves, Jetstream felt increasingly nervous until the teacher called on him. "You there, please introduce yourself."

Jetstream climbed down from his seat and trotted slowly to the front of the class. "h-hi everypony...." He said in a soft voice. "My name is Jetstream and I'm..." he trailed off as he noticed the glare of the colt from earlier.

"A freak!" The rude colt interjected, causing the class to burst into laughter.

Jetstream squeaked and fell from the chair, hitting the floor and beginning to cry, Ms. Aster comforted him and shot a glare at the colt. "Hickory! You'll stay after class."

Tenebris and Vengeance were sitting inside, drinking tea and talking.
"Well Tenebris what were you doing since we last met?"
"I adopted a poor little foal a few years ago, he is a half changeling.. just like your father was.. Today is his first day of school"
"Congratulations, I cant wait to see him" he said, unfolding his wings
