Arrival from the Ends of the Earth

A brilliantly gilded train pulled into the station in Canterlot, the ornate train bearing the sigil of the Vigil family on the front. A pair of aging ponies emerged from the front most car, wearing extravagant Saddle Arabian garments and followed by a throng of armored guards. Shortly behind the guards, emerged a young mare towering just as high as the elderly ponies before her. Her name was Silent Vigil, and she came to train as an Equestrian Royal Guard.

Vengeance stood on a building, wearing a dark coat with a hood.
He watched the family getting out of the train and saw a few guards
Must be someone important, maybe of the royal family? he thought

Silent Vigil lifted her head, looking around warily as she felt she was being watched. The lithe mare felt uneasy as she scanned the buildings around her, spotting a hooded figure atop a nearby building. "Guards!" She exclaimed in a voice quite unfitting of a mare of her figure.

At the sound of gruff call of the young mare, the guards gathered around her, spears levitating in wreaths of magic.

Ven heard her call and disapeared from the edge of the roof, Taking off his coat and hiding his sword.
He went down and walked out of the front door, joining the other group of ponies who watched the family arrive

The guards stayed close to the family, escorting them from the train station to the residential district, keeping an eye out for any would be assailants.

Silent vigil looked back at the crowd, her eyes focusing on a Pegasus stallion that seemed just a little bit out of place.

Vengeance gave her a sight smile before pulling his hoodie over his head and flying off to a mountain in the distance

Silent Vigil narrowed her eyes slightly before entering the mansion ahead of her. Who was that stallion...? And why did he seem to be stalking me? She thought, looking out one of the large windows to the directing the Pegasus flew, her gaze resting upon the mountains in the distance.

Vengeance entered his cabin, taking off his coat. He took his sword and walked outside
He trained on a wooden log he had standing infront of his cabin, he hit it a few times with his sword before looking down at canterlot

Silent Vigil looked around warily, checking to see if her parents were around. When she determined that they had likely gone to sleep, she donned a coat and slipped out of the house, making her way towards the edge of the city. Her gaze was set on the snow capped mountains just north of the Equestrian Capital, the image of the mysterious stallion burned into her mind.

Vengeance sat inside of his cabin, making tea over a fireplace and sharpening his sword
He tought about the rich family that moved in town and the mare he saw

Silent Vigil ventured into the mountains, following a seemingly ancient stone path lined with unusual markers with what appeared to be names carved into them. She took a deep breath and continued up the path, eventually finding a cabin in a grove of bare trees. "Hello..?" She called out in her distinct Saddle Arabian accent.

Vengeance went outside, hearing the voice of a mare. He walked out of the dark and stood infront of her "Greetings" he said with a deep voice

Silent Vigil looked at the Pegasus stallion, surprised to hear a deep voice from a stallion half her size. "You're the stallion that was stalking me." She said, her voice stern. "Why?"

"I saw your armor and equipment, are you here to join the royal guard?" he asked

Silent Vigil stared at him with a stern yet inquisitive look, her gaze resting on the sword strapped at the stallion's shoulder. "Yes. I am." She said, the image of her family's heirloom armor appearing in her mind.

"Why does a fancy rich mare like you wanna be a guard?" he said, chuckling a bit

"It is my duty to my family's history." Silent Vigil remarked. "Every member of my family has been a royal guard or a soldier, even my idiotic brothers..." She added with a scowl at the mention of her brothers.

"Do you have experience in sword fighting?" he asked

"I do. My father trained me as soon as I was able to pick up a sword." Silent Vigil said, looking towards a rack of swords nearby.

Vengeance smiled and pulled out his sword, carving a V in one of the logs he had standing outside
"Swordfighting is like art, elegance and strength at the same time"

Silent Vigil looked at the v carved into the log, she narrowed her eyes slightly. "I see...." She said. "Will you perhaps teach me?"

"I wouldnt mind teaching you, but lets go inside, its getting cold out here"
He said, entering his warm wooden cabin, with a few sword racks and a forge with an anvil next to the fireplace

Silent Vigil stepped inside, ducking under the door and sitting down where she could find room. "Pardon me, but it's quite cramped in here." She said as she lay down, tucking her legs under her. "But I suppose homes here are designed ponies, not for horses like myself."

"Where do you and your family come from?" he asked, sharpening his sword on a stone

"We came from Saddle Arabia, to escape war and persecution." Silent Vigil said. "What of you? Where do you hail from?"
