Visiting Home

The moon began to slowly rise as a stallion stepped off the midnight train and onto the platform. A heavy black cloak shielded his form from any eyes that might be watching, all that could be seen were his dark grey hooves. Though his eyes nor face could be seen, a deep sorrow seemed to radiate from his shadowy form. Revenant, a spirit returned from death to claim justice on those who wronged it in life. It was the name this stallion went by, his true name lost to the fog of time. In a way he was a revenant, but he didn't claim justice for his life, no, he sought to find justice for others. He did this so he might redeem himself in his own eyes. He swallowed nervously, taking slow steps towards the archway the led to his old home. As he passed through it and into the city streets, he could only hope that if any familiar faces found him, there would be forgiveness in their eyes. He looked up at the moon and stars, wondering what the world would look like if he were a star peering down upon it.

The mare stepped out of the train slightly hesitantly, unwary of where exactly she was for she had not been here before. If she had been here, she'd had no memories of being here as well. She looked around before taking a few steps forward, curious as to what this place was. She caught sight of the cloaked pony, glancing back before continuing to walk. She stopped momentarily to look at the moon, somewhat mesmerized by it. She'd always loved looking at the moon, it sometimes made her feel calm when she'd fly around at night. Wavering heart, as captivated as she was by the moon, turned her attention elsewhere, continuing onward into the city, taking in every bit of what was in her view as she went along.

Still thinking he was alone Revenant let out a sigh, looking back at the city before him "I'm so, so sorry. I never meant for any of it to happen, I swear..." he began slowly walking into the city once more, hoping no one would notice him

Wavering let out a quiet yawn, finding it to be a little early for her to be tired. She continued onward anyways, occasionally stopping to look around, trying to keep in mind certain places, sort of like land markers, in case she were to get lost at all. She stopped completely as she looked around, wondering where to go from there.

As he walked through the streets haunted by memories long past, he noticed the confused looking mare. He quietly approached her from behind, softly speaking "If you're looking at sights, the Crystal Palace is beatiful under the moon and starlight."

She looked over at him, smiling lightly. "Oh, thank you. It sounds amazing. But I'm not really sure what anything here is though, I've never been here until now.. do you think you can show me around?" She continued glancing around after she got done speaking, continuing to look for places that were easily recognizable.

"Yes...yes, follow me." He continued forwrd, leading her through the winding city streets. "As I'm sure you're aware, this is the Crystal Empire. It's almost as old as Equestria." He allowed himself a small smile as he stopped and sat down. The palace loomed over them it's sapphire towers glinting in the moonlight, as tallest tower seemed to reflect every star in the night sky "This, is the Crystal Palace." His deep voice was quiet, and melancholy

"Thank you." She said as she followed behind him. The Agee of the city had come seemingly as a surprise to her, not so much as to where they were though. She was glad she had at least known about the Crystal Empire even though she'd yet to learn much about it. She nearly bumped into him, lost in though. As she stopped herself, she looked up at the palace, a look of awe was apparent on her face as she took in the view of it all. "It's amazing."

He glanced over at her "If you think it looks amazing from the outside, you should see it from the inside sometime." looked away quickly, using his magic to pull his cloak tighter around him. His magical aura was a dark grey with a faded cerulean tinge

She smiled, "yes, I will have to some time. Soon maybe." She sat down next to him, looking at some of the stars in the sky. "Tonight is nice out, don't you think? Especially somewhere like this, where it makes you feel nice just looking at it.. oh, sorry, I'm rambling."

"No, it's fine. And yes, I suppose tonight would be nice. But I'm afraid my eyes can't see the beauty, for my mind is trapped in memory." He slowly stood up, glancing at the castle one last time before seaking "If I remember correctly, and nothing has changed, a guard patroll will be passing by shortly. I'd rather not be here when thay do." he turned back, trotting into a dark allyway

She looked at him as she was pulled from her daze, her smile fading. She yawned quietly again, standing up afterwards. "Oh, uh.. okay." She had no idea what to say, let alone who he was still. She started walking back into the town, looking back, trying to recall the buildings she'd tried to remember but, sadly, to no avail. "So much for remembering where I've been.." she mumbles to herself.

Several minutes later he came to astop infront of a old warnout tavern "If you have bits, you could rent a room here for the night. It's not the fancyist, but the ponies who run it are good." he smiled at her, his muzzle barely visable under the dark hood

"Just a hunch, but I'm guessing you know your way around here." She chuckled lightly. "I'm sure I have enough bits though, thanks for letting me know. Oh, I almost forgot, I'm wavering heart." She smiled at him. "And thank you again for showing me around earlier."

"What kind of stallion would I be if I didn't help a lost mare? And yes...I used to live here, long ago." He bowed slightly before turning back the the alleyway and walking into the shadows. Before hee vanished completely he said one last thing, just loud eough for her to hear "If our paths cross again, you may call me Revenant."
