U.A.E Special Task Squad Base and Operations (Friendly)

After the Changeling Invasion, the Unicorn Elite of Canterlot have decided that Equestria needs a more unified form of protection, and have therefore issued a draft, forcing all Pegasi and Earth Ponies between the ages of 18 and 30 to enlist in the newly formed United Army of Equestria. Unicorns, known to be the higher class of ponies, are exempt from the draft due to inequality among the ponies and corruption amongst the Unicorn Elite. Rumor has it that the Unicorns are planning on forcing through a law which requires 5 years of military service from each Earth Pony and Pegasus. Many Earth Ponies and Pegasi have accepted this and joined the UAE.

However, a pocket of resistance has formed to rebel against the proclamation, and to prevent the new law from being realized. Hiding from the UAE's watchful eye in their underground bunker, the Resistance is made up of Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and even Unicorns who are outraged at the Unicorn Elite's abuse of power, and exclusion of their own race in the draft. In retaliation, the Unicorn Elite have put together a small squad from the U.A.E, whose purpose is to track down and neutralize the rebels.

You are the Special Task Squad of the United Army of Equestria. You have resources, and the freedom of movement to help you in the fight, in addition to your nigh impenetrable fortress. Your ultimate goal? To neutralize and capture all of the rebels, allowing Equestria to become the military power it's supposed to be.

You may kill anypony, but ask permission of them first. Refrain from excessive violence and gore. Ask permission before maiming or killing anypony (besides NPCs) in the chat box first.

This side seems empty and Tornado Wing might get lonely. Put Fireseeker up for this side.

This all seems pretty interesting, I think I'll try this out.

Put up Onyx on this side as combat specialist, if you may.

Tornado Wing stalked down the corridor, her mind occupied with thoughts of the meeting she had just attended. She had suspected she would hold a high position in the Army; after all, she had been among the first to join. However, this… squad they were suggesting she lead sounded like a unique challenge.

Turning down a side passage ending in an iron door, she thought, ‘this team had better be top-notch. Those rebels sound like they mean business, and I’ll need the best to stop them.’

Stopping before the cold door, she took a deep breath, adjusting the decorative red armor given to her from the council. The UAE symbol on the front denoted where her loyalties lie, and the black border around it was to be unique to her squad. After all, much of what they did involved stealth and shadows. Steeling herself, Tornado opened the door, behind which was her new team.

Fireseeker hated doubt, specifically when it was him doubting himself.

He wasn't sure about the whole UAE drafting but was certain that it was all for a good cause. How good exactly he didn't know...

Still, he had no time to worry about such things. Inside the control room, Fireseeker sat at his desk, sorting out the last of the rebel reports. He had been quickly chosen as part of this special team because of his skills at reports and general speed, setting him in Reconnaissance.

Fireseeker turned as he heard the door open and watched a pegasus mare stride in. Just from looking at her, she was clearly in charge. Not knowing her title, he gave her a salute.

Onyx opened one of his eyes as he heard a heavy door open, seeing a mare in their squad's customary uniform enter the squad "HQ" upon doing so.

The unicorn had been sitting still on a small couch in one of the corners of the room the past half-hour or so and performing an unknown magical spell: his horn wasn't glowing, but a small blue hovering ball of light, notably unstable-looking, was hovering in front of him, emanating a very faint buzzing sound. From the corner of his vision he could see the other ponies in the room get up and give her a sharp salute. Onyx didn't bother doing the same, however, as he had never seen the point of the gesture, and found it to be a waste of time.

Thunder Bird woke up in his dorm room, to the sound of a shrill alarm clock. The dorm, was a very dull room, the only thing livening up the place was a picture of himself and his parents. Oh right! Today was the day of the meeting or whatever. Thunder Bird really didn't care for these, but at least he could have some kind of interaction with other ponies.

Exiting the dorm room, he made his way down to the corridor that lead to the meeting room. He really had no idea what to expect at this point, probably just somepony yapping on about teamwork or something. He got quite caught up in his thought, and almost walked right into the door. He opened the door, revealing a couple other ponies, none of them he knew to well. He anxiously made his way to the table, expecting something quite boring out of this.

Kid nervously approached the door to the meeting room. Being the youngest member of the U.A.E, he rarely got any respect. Add being an earthpony to the top of that and Kid may as well have been a punching bag. To be brutally honest, he truly did not want to be a part of the U.A.E. However, It was the only way he could avoid being sent back to the Manehatten orphanage... or atleast thats when the recruiting officer told him. Kid then mumbled something about how being in the Everfree would be more fun and less freaky than this as he slowly pushed the door open and quickly slid in, hopefully un-noticed as he prepared for another verbal beat down for coming close to being late.

'This is it?' Tornado thought, entering the room. There were only 5 other ponies she could see, two of which entered right behind her. She would have to talk to the late-comers about punctuality later. What looked to be a black-suited Pegasus in the corner, a soft looking blue Pegasus at one of the 4 desks, a Unicorn on a couch performing what she thought was a spell, a small brown Earth Pony colt 'How odd,' and another Pegasus stallion, this one being white. The 2 Pegasi already in the room saluted her immediately upon her entrance. 'At least they know their place in this squad. The Unicorn, on the other hand...'

The Unicorn just continued what he was doing, seemingly ignoring her presence. This would not do. Perhaps he thought he was above her, being a Unicorn. She would address this later however. Tornado could excuse the other two ponies, since they had entered the room after her. Now, it was time to meet the team.

Walking towards the center of the room, she announced, "Greetings Squad members. As two of you have acknowledged, I am your Squad Leader." Tornado said this with a pointed look towards the Unicorn. "Don't expect any coddling from me just because I'm a mare. I will personally see to it that you are removed from the team if you do not step up to the tasks I assign you. You should each be honored to be here. Each of us was hand chosen by the leaders of the U.A.E and the Unicorn Elite to be here. Our skills have gotten us here, and, should we use those skills our best advantage, I have no doubt the rebels will be crushed quickly."

Taking a quick breath after her long speech, Tornado continued, "Now all of you, gather at the center. Introduce yourselves to me and your teammates, and tell us what you can do."

The jaunty spring to her step indicated that Victoria was pleased to be back within her native element. The civil conflict represented a justification for the manipulation of other ponies, and no other opportunity could excite the silver pegasus more.

In contrast to the entrance of the Squad Leader, however, Victoria approached the room with bated hoofsteps and stood off to the side, respectfully silent.

Though inconspicuous by intention, the mare's features certainly differentiated her from the warriors. She lacked the shining plate that adorned her contemporaries; in its place, she was clad in the subtle things that common ponies appreciated -- a scarf of a conservative color and a cap to match. Approachability was, after all, a vitally important attribute to possess during negotiation.

Situated thus, she immediately began about getting to know the ponies around her; specifically, doing so in her own unique way. Everything from the expression to the posture of each individual, she committed to her vast memory. While her demeanor remained civil, her ears instantly pricked up to catch that which each pony had to say.

With slight awkwardness, Fireseeker approached the centre of the room along with everypony else. He didn't think this was going to be a cozy meet-and-greet session. No, he had already learnt that the UAE liked to keep everything clear, precise and to the point.

One thing that did catch his eye was an pony that had subtly slipped through the door. He was a young earth pony that-
Wait, was that...Kid?

With no time to worry about that now, Fireseeker cleared his throat with a slight ruffle of his wings and spoke loudly.

"Fireseeker, head of STS Reconnaissance."

Upon hearing all of the mare's speech and instructions, Onyx closed his eye once again and waited for a few seconds, the ball in front of him dissapting slowly. He finally got up about halfway through Fireseeker's introduction and approached the circle that had been formed by the other squad members. A pony with a crossbow that he had noticed before introduced himself next.

"Shadow Whisper. Hired mercenary, tracker, sharpshooter."

I wouldn't have expected there to be hired guns in an elite squad. No matter. The mercenary stepped back, and then Onyx decided to step forward next. Without a single hint of emotion, he spoke.

"My name is Onyx, and I am the the designated combat specialist of this team." Combat Specialist, I'll never like that title.

He stepped back once again to allow the next squad member to introduce themselves, observing the others as he listened and acknowledged.

Tornado listened to the three ponies name themselves and describe their talents. And she had to admit, she was pleased with them so far. They seemed to know how things worked in the U.A.E, and would be key players in the conflicts to come; of this she was certain.

Turning slightly, she glanced at the mare who walked in after all the others. 'No pony here was chosen based on their punctuality I see,' thought Tornado wryly. But the Pegasus mare did not look like a warrior. 'Ah, yes, they did give me a dossier on a communications pony. That must be her.' She would have to thoroughly look over those dossiers when she retired back to her room for the night.

Giving a nod towards the three ponies who had already spoken, she said, "Good. I see the U.A.E has so far assembled a well balanced team. I expect the best from you all."

Addressing the three ponies who had arrived late, Tornado Wing asked, "Now what are your names and talents? What will you be contributing to this S.T.S?"

"Greetings Squad members. As two of you have acknowledged, I am your Squad Leader."

Before even giving another breath or thought, Kid quickly gave the squad leader a quick and practiced salute.

"Fireseeker, head of STS Reconnaissance."

"Shadow Whisper. Hired mercenary, tracker, sharpshooter."

"My name is Onyx, and I am the the designated combat specialist of this team."

Ugh, short and to the point, it was the same with everypony who was a part of the U.A.E. Nopony had time to become friends, nopony seemed to care about one another. Even worse is how shady a mercenary is, truly a bad decision on the U.A.E's side. How could...

"Fireseeker, head of STS Reconnaissance."

Kid stopped in his mental rant as he thought carefully over the name Fireseeker; he was positive he had met somepony with that same name. Perhaps it was just a same name sorta situation, however he did look awfully familiar...It may possibly be the same Fireseeker from before.


Kid looked around at the others, seeing as how nopony else was making a move to introduce themselves, he decided to step up. Despite still being nervous about being the only earth pony and being so much younger than the others, he decided to push it down and replace it with a trained disciplined personality.

"Before any remarks are made about my age, height or weight I would like to quickly make it clear that I was not put here due to a parent being a brass or to cater to civilian distractions." Kid said in a clear voice, looking everypony dead in the eye, despite the repercussions it may have. "I would like to inform you all that I am to be either a deep cover or sleeper agent for this squad. I will be refraining from informing any of you my name at this point in time."

Kid then bowed his head, stepped back and sat attentively waiting for the next pony to inform the squad.

The mare glanced at the colt, intrigued by his boldness. She swore that she could decipher the presence of character beneath his pragmatic facade. As if to offer her approval, Victoria gently approached him and touched his shoulder with her hoof.

She then responded in an equally articulate fashion. “I am Victoria – at your service, ma’am,” she chimed in, curtsying even in recognition of the probability that the unicorn cared little for the petty gestures which were the arsenal of the diplomat. “I have been tasked to be your communications correspondent. ‘Zat is, I will be overseeing information-based endeavors; being the maintenance of relations with our superiors, mediation between our opponents and ourselves, and the issuance of propaganda to the public,” added the mare.

There was a distinct Prench flavor to her tone and a spirit in her expression; the latter, however, being nothing more than an instrument of persuasion. Impossible to discern were the true demonic sentiments which she harbored within.

Fireseeker was now more than certain that the colt was Kid. When the introduction were over he'd have to have a word with him. Despite his speech, Fireseeker knew the colt was only young and being in a war was just...unthinkable...

The rest of the team seemed to be quite diverse in their skills and roles which made Fireseeker a little happier. Even the mercenary gave him some comfort, since it lessened the chances that he would actually have to use a gun.

A pegasus mare went around, asking the names, and talents of the other ponies in the room. Fireseeker, Shadow Whisper, Onyx, after that Thunder Bird zoned out slightly, and then the unicorn from before had gone in front of him, and asked his name

The pegasus mare loomed over Thunder Bird. The Pegasus took a deep breath and began to speak. "My name is Thunder bird, and I'm a spy." Feeling awkward for what he just said, he felt as if he could have made that sound better. But how could he even describe being a spy? Anyway, that wasn't important.

Well, I'll find out that kid's name later. If he doesn't want to reveal it to the squad, that keeps security leaks to a minimum. Smart kid...' Tornado Wing thought, listening to the ponies introduce themselves.

The only other mare in the group surprised her. Tornado expected a Unicorn to be the liaison between the S.T.S and the higher-ups in the U.A.E, not another Pegasus. But she did seem to act as an upper-class mare would. The Elite must trust her, if she was to oversee an operation as important as this one.

As for the rest, they were as much as she expected from the U.A.E. Straight to business, clean, and efficient. This mission shouldn't take overlong.

"Good. I've received dossiers on each of you, which I plan on reviewing tonight. I had you recite your names and positions for the benefit of those you will be working with." At this point, Tornado Wing paused, looking at each pony before continuing. "While the U.A.E is known for it's calculating and decisive actions, those actions could not be carried out near as effectively if the ponies performing them did not trust and know each other. Now, i'm not asking you to become buddy-buddy, but you must have faith in those whom you work alongside."

"I would like the kid, Thunder Bird, Onyx, and Victoria to stay behind. As for the rest, you're dismissed. I'm giving you a free reign to pursue your own missions for now. Do what you think would best aid our cause. But, should you waste your time goofing off, I will pile so much work on you that you will not sleep. Now go," Tornado Wing announced, making her way to the head of the table.

It was time to tell these ponies how it worked around here.

Kid was curious as to why this higher up pegasus was placing her hoof on his shoulder. The only time Kid had been touched by a pegasus in the U.A.E was during the hazing beatings...and the regular ones. It was going to be difficult fighting in a war while his body is already bruised and bleeding.

"Before we continue, my apologies for being late to the meeting, ma'am." Kid said with the same discipline and maturity as his earlier 'speech'. "I was being held up by the guards in this building. They refused to let me in due to my age and...'history' with them."

Kid made sure to keep eye contact with his superior, lest he be seen as not mature or disciplined enough to be a part of the squad. Though he thoroughly knew that he wasn't disciplined or mature at all; he found that the U.A.E appreciates it when you can at least fake it. And when the right ponies appreciate you, life-long boons are sure to occur.

"Though I know that no excuse is a good excuse, I felt as though I should inform you." Kid spoke up again before anypony else could say anything. "and the reason why I felt I should inform you isn't for pity points. It was simply to prevent you from thinking that my tardiness due to some childish antic."

"Yes ma'am." Victoria remained in her presence.

She lifted her hoof from the foal and brought her posture into accordance with the circumstances. Whereas she might have anticipated the reprimanding as well, the pegasus chose not to offer a reason for her late arrival. Her own experiences as a conversationalist were enough to suppose that it was better to consciously submit than to retaliate and potentially worsen things. Besides, she reasoned, what was pride to the dead?

She did, however, assume the liberty of inspecting their leader. Although the mare stood not much taller than herself, her sky-colored eyes were sternly conducted, and her professional demeanor indicated that she was more than familiar with authority.

Victoria naturally disliked her -- as she did all other ponies -- but she could at least appreciate the mare's apparent willpower.

The punishment that was allegedly to come almost intrigued her, as it would provide insight into the motives of the mare in armor.

(Just felt like I needed to post my exit.)

Shadow jutted down the rest of the details of his supposed comrades in his head, reminding himself to take it into account when the situation calls for it. Who knows, maybe he'll be leading these colts and fillies sometime in the future. As the mare singled out four of them to stay behind, he couldn't help but try to hide a smirk. 'This'll be good.' The rest of the group were dismissed.

He intentionally lagged behind the others as they left, and as soon as they were out of sight, he walked closer to the door. The first one to speak up was the colt, trying to sound mature and disciplined. 'Biiiiig mistake kiddo. No one speaks before the head honcho gets her word out.' The next to speak was the mare with an accent, saying only a simple "Yes Ma'am."

Shadow would have stayed a while longer but the sound of hooves on concrete forced him to walk slowly to the source. A unicorn in armor was the one responsible for interrupting his eavesdropping. "I was instructed to give you this." She said sternly with a bit of distaste in her voice as she held out an envelope.

"Huh, a little too early for payment, not that I'm complaining." Shadow took the envelope and stuffed it in his pocket. "Now if you excuse me, darling, I have some hunting to do." He walked off into a dark corridor and faded from sight. 'So far so good.'

Onyx turned his gaze to the youngest of the group as he stepped forward. He was a child. A little kid that didn't even have his cutie mark yet. Onyx had learned to agree with the fact that the U.A.E. was quite skilled at finding expert specialists, but...well this was quite a doubtful pick. The colt introduced himself with a minute-long speech on how he was not to be underestimated, refusing to even say his name during the whole process. He looked over all of the other team members as he "introduced" himself, though Onyx didn't flinch as he was looked upon, keeping an unemotional and expressionless look.

Next in introductions was one of the late Pegasi, apperantly named Victoria and assigned to the team as a diplomat and authoritative representative. Onyx was not surprised at all that the team had a member to act as a go-between the members and the squad authority, though the fact that this mare was also a diplomat was somewhat unexpected for him. He had been told that this squad was to eliminate all known rebels, and so he didn't see why they would need to negotiate with said rebels.

Last to introduce himself was the third pony to come in late, a pegasus stallion named Thunder Bird, who was apparently the team's assigned spy. Onyx couldn't think of a reason why the U.A.E. would assign the earlier colt as a deep cover agent when they had this stallion as completely capable spy, but he didn't say anything, simply directing his attention to the squad leader once again as she spoke.

"I would like the kid, Thunder Bird, Onyx, and Victoria to stay behind. As for the rest, you're dismissed. I'm giving you a free reign to pursue your own missions for now. Do what you think would best aid our cause. But, should you waste your time goofing off, I will pile so much work on you that you will not sleep. Now go,"

Onyx found trust and faith to be foolish ideas, though he did agree that, in some cases, teamwork was an important factor in victory. Nevertheless, not much caring about the fact that he could be in trouble, he walked over to the table that Tornado Wing approached in response to her given request, awaiting whatever she had to say to him and the three other ponies whom she had called out. Unlike the others, which answered to the mare as soon as their positions were established, he simply waited for her word, looking at her nonchalantly.
