In need of a stiff drink

Brawny hooves, the new pony in Ponyville walks into the tavern with nothing on his mind except some Cider. He walks up to the barkeep and asks for the strongest drink in the house. As he waits, he looks around the tavern to get an idea on how others in Ponyville act

The door of the tavern was opened by Fireseeker as he trotted inside, accompanied by Gemini.
Fireseeker was surprised at how fast he had found a friend in Ponyville, considering he had moved here only recently. Despite his short time here, he already felt pretty accepted into the community.

As he came walked unto the bar, he was just finishing his funny story to Gemini.

"And so I told him, 'They're all a bunch of neigh-sayers if you ask me.'"

gemini chuckles at the joke fire made, feeling thirsty from all his running around today. he goes and sits next to a green earth pony." don't mind if we sit here, do you?" gemini looks at the other pony a bit." i don't think i remember seeing you around. are you new, or have we just not meet yet? either way..." he does a small, polite bow, then holds out a hoof to shake." im gemini. that there is fireseeker." gemini points to the other pegasus." its good to meet you." he turns and orders a drink from the barkeep.

"It's cool if you sit here. Name's Brawny hooves, and yes, I'm new here. You two real good friends?" Brawny gets his drink and chugs it in about 15 seconds "Man, that was pretty weak"

"I guess you could say that," replied Fireseeker, ordering a cider for himself. "I've only been here for a short while. Less than two weeks maybe?"

His cider arrived but before he could drink it, Fireseeker's attention was caught by Brawny as he chugged his entire drink. Wondering if that was even pony-ly possible, Fireseeker attempted the same thing.

The result was him choking halfway through, spluttering and ending up with cider coming from his nose and watery eyes.

Brawny just falls out of his chair laughing at his amateurish attempt to copy him.

"You, you really shouldn't try that. It takes years of experience and training." He quickly changes the subject "I'm brand new here. Just arrived today. This place seems alright"

gemini laughs a bit at fire too, then pats his back to make sure fire doesn't end up choking." yeah, it probably would be best if you didn't try that again, fire." he looks over at brawny." so, if you're new here, meet any new friends yet? and yeah, i suppose fire would be one of the ponies i hang around more with. granted, im normally busy during weekdays, unless i get the day off."

With some cider running down his face, Fireseeker tried to salvage some dignity by slow drinking the rest and wiping the liquid off of himself.

To save himself from further humiliation, he sat quietly and let Gemini do the talking for now.

Brawny goes back to Gemini, trying to stifle any laughs still directed at that huge mishap "Well, somepony came by my house today, Moon Whistle I think." Brawny orders another drink "So, what do you two do for a living?"

"well, i work at a veterinary office for a mare called violet. i guess i'm her...assistant? assistant manager? i don't know my exact title, but i mainly help her a bit and do paper work and stuff like that." gemini answers, thinking a bit."hmm...moon whistle...i think i met her at the library once. yeah, i met her and whiplash there. it was a decent day, except i lost my first map after that. i got another one though. so, what do you do, brawny?"

"I play a lot of guitar. I had a band but we split up pretty fast. There were a few colts around Equestria I've been hearing about. (OCs I may or may not create) One was in Canterlot, one in Manehattan, and a couple are coming to Ponyville."

"So your a guitarist? That's pretty cool," Fireseeker admitted. "See, you two both have much more exciting jobs than me."

He gestured to Gemini. "You get work with all kinds of animals," he then gestured to Brawny, "And your a rock and roll musician. I'm just a plain old writer."

"What do you write?" Brawny gets his drink but drinks it more slowly for Fireseeker's sake

"a plain old writer....who likes to look at mares plots." gemini said, laughing." hahaha, s-sorry fire... i just had to bring that up again. and i tend to only help work on the pets. its not like i'm treating panthers or anything. plus, i tend to do the paper work. you know, stock up and stuff. though it is a very interesting job some days, its definitely not that interesting." he starts to drink his drink too as he gets it.

Fireseeker chuckled at Gemini's joke, hoping Brawny wouldn't take it seriously.

"Well, at the moment, I've settled here in Ponyville to write a novel," Fireseeker explained. "But my actual job is writing action adventure articles for 'Pony Pulp Fiction' magazine. I liked to base them off the experiences I got from travelling all around Equestria.

"That isn't very lame. if anything gemini's got the worst job." Brawny finishes his second drink, and gets a third

"What was that, about the mare plots, or whatever?"

"nothing much, just a joke between us. so, do you have any family or friends here brawny? or did you move here for other reasons?" gemini looks at brawny with curiosity." what makes ponyville a better place to try to live in than other towns for you?"

"Well I used to live in poor Manehattan so almost any other city is nice in my opinion. And my family is back where I used to live. I just wanted to get out of Manehattan. And I just came here because I've heard it was pretty nice here"

Fireseeker nodded his agreement.

"I grew up in Manehatten too. Not the friendliest or safest place to go up, especially when you mum doesn't really keep a close eye on you..."

"hmm....i've never been to manehatten, so i'll have to take your words for it. so, how long were you here for? only a couple of days? got any good stories to tell or songs to sing? this is a tavern, and when in a tavern..." gemini rubs the back of his head." i forget how the saying goes."

"I just got here today." Brawny looks at gemini rubbing his head. "Well you know more than I do"

Fireseeker chuckled at both of them.

"I don't think there's a saying for taverns. I think it's just common knowledge that when in a tavern, you should have a few drinks."

gemini looks away, slightly upset." im sure there was..." he looks back to fire and brawny." so, any thing interesting to talk about? i know i had some....interesting experiences here, but i'd rather hear others stories before i go into my own."

Brawny gets a little dizzy "Speaking of drinks, I think I had a little much" He stops for a second "But that's never stopped me!" He grabs a whole barrel and drinks all of the cider in it

Fireseeker was never one to drink heavily. He always preferred to keep himself in control, especially since travelling required you to be able to make important decisions. However, he was staying in Ponyville now. Why not?

He ordered another cider and raised the mug. With a "Why not?" he began to drink it.
